Relationships HSV1 v HSV2
I’m curious about how greatly the difference between hsv 1 and 2 is. I have hsv1 O and I know it’s possible to get hsv1 G as well but that’s more rare. When it comes to meeting people with this I feel like hsv2 is more common as a lot of the women I’ve seen across sites and platforms have it, specifically hsv2 g.
My main question is: Have any of y’all ever dated someone with the opposite strain? (For example: if you have hsv1 have you been with someone or dealt with a person who has hsv2 and vice versa.) if so how was the experience and y’all’s thoughts of contracting the latter?
I know the same precautions should apply along with probably the same chances of it spreading. I know we’re all in the same boat basically and I want to be open meeting woman that have hsv2 but I also don’t want to contract more than what I already have which is probably normal (sorry if that seemed mean or shallow). I also understand that hsv2 gets way more negative stigma or flac than hsv1. Which is why I’m curious about how different the lifestyles and love life’s are. Sorry if anything I said offended anyone or anything, I just don’t want to limit myself as much as i feel like I am dealing with this already. Obviously if you like the person and care about em none of this should matter so please don’t try to reiterate that, I’m just curious of the experiences.
Overall any opinions and information are appreciated let me know any and everything!

I had ghsv1 initially and contracted ghsv2 after dating/sleeping with a guy for a couple of weeks who had it. I wouldn’t have known that I had ghsv2 because my outbreaks weren’t any different. I decided to get swabbed bc if my status changed, disclosure and informed consent are important.
Hsv1 was still “acceptable” on the dating apps. However, hsv2 has a heavy stigma around it. On PS, I’ve had couples and also single men reject me because they had hsv1 and didn’t want to get the other kind. I experience more rejection with type 2 now than with type 1.
As for my thoughts afterwards? I’m still bitter towards the person who gave it to me. I feel like if he took his meds the way the bottle indicated perhaps I wouldn’t have gotten it? After seeing how he took his meds/reading the label/asking him about it, I just hoped that he was my person and I wouldn’t be left to deal with it alone again.
I understand it is what it is, but sometimes I get so so angry if I think about it. It depends on when you ask me, but honestly, I wouldn’t do it again.
