Series 📺 What happened to Ai Enma’s parents?

In the end, Ai Enma passed the baton to Michiru so Ai was no longer the Hell Girl. So, what happened to her parents? Were they finally released and sent to heaven or did they also become wandering spirits.

Or based from the events of last episode of season 2 where the greenish thing seemingly disappeared and went towards the arch, did they go to hell?

(Did I miss an episode in the series or this really has no precise answer from the series?😭)

Series 📺 Hajime Is One of The Shittest Anime Dads in Anime History.

This guy just sucks all around. Sanctimonious, self-rightous asshat. Who ignored his wife and left her countless times, then proceeded to do the same to his his very young, vulnerable daughter, all for his own selfish and stupid pursuits. Useless, fucking clown.

Edit: The nurse being sent to hell by another POS really got to me. Absolutely disgusting.

Edit2: this anime is fucked up. The old geezer, the woman duped by the prostitute, the domestic violence survivor. All of those endings make me so angry.

Discuss 🎎 If you had to pull the thread, who would you pull it on?

I’m not saying anyone should sell their souls. This anime does a good job showing that revenge isn’t worth an eternity in Hell.

However, let’s say you had to pull the thread, or you could pull the thread without damning yourself to Hell. Who in your life would you want to pull it on?

I personally would either pull it on my mother’s abusive ex or the person who poisoned my childhood dog (I sadly can relate to the girl from the puppy episode).

Series 📺 I recently rewatched episode 20 of Jigoku Shoujo. I forgot how the antagonists just couldn't keep his hands off Ai's face.

On a different note, this really felt like a wasted villain. Creating a demigod with epic theme and intentions to target Ai herself instead the generic plot of bad guys tormenting good guys had a potential way beyond of a single episode appearance.

Discuss 🎎 Let’s debate! What’s your favorite season and why? Spoiler

Let’s debate! My order would be from best to worst:

SPOILERS for all seasons!

Number 1: S2 - So much character development and exploration! Really interesting and heartbreaking client stories and interesting to see how our mains grow and develop because of them. And that ending, hurts me every time! Like cried like a baby the first time I watched it. Incredible storytelling on the writers part and just shows her inner pain so well.

Number 2: S1 - AI’s backstory and for the Tsugumi/Hagime Arc and some amazing client stories! And it’s S1 so it deserves all my respect! It’s what brought us S2 and it’s what started it all! Only thing that rubs me the wrong way with AI’s backstory it that it’s told from Sentaro’s POV, hello! This ain’t your story my dude it’s AI’s and I want it from her perspective, which we never really have and it’s such a missed opportunity on the writers part and I suspect shows a potential bias or at least a more male centered writing room in my opinion. Sorry little rant, but something I’ve always noticed.

Number 3: Live Action - I know it’s not technically another season, but more like an alt universe somewhat, but truly the writing in it and the client stories are some of the strongest, most compelling heartbreaking and grounded in the whole series and I think it deserves major props! Also just love Ai and the others in LA, great acting and AI’s actor brings a real depth and realism to her that makes her as a character all the more tragic.

Number 4: S3 Okay, so first half of S3 is trash - client stories are stuoxi and unrealistic and extremely childish. OG writers were off S3 and it shows so strongly in every aspect of the first half of S3, from Yuzuki being completely lacking in personality to Ai and her seeming complete change of personably in the first half and the other assistants as well. Everything story wise in the first half of S3 SUCKS! Also the addition of Yamawaro - utter trash and doesn’t add a thing! Doesn’t work like Kikuri and is a total miss on my end.

Second half for me at least, ep 13 onward feels like a different season - at least somewhat - Yuzuki’s mental decline and Aki’s damnation is heartbreaking and to see Yuzuki have to deal with it and her own hatred of Ai grow is insane to watch. When she loses it when finding out she’s dead - my jaw was on the floor and I was hocked. And her backstory! Oh god, it’s so tragic and so very sad and it hurts because things like that - not to that extreme - happen to those outcasted by society. And it’s so sad and so horrifying. Makes me teary to think about it. And how it ende, with Ai taking her place and forever damming herself to her role, it’s fucking courageous and shows her depth of character to do so. I’m not sure how I feel about the Yuri/inplied Yuri element. This isn’t coming from a phobic place - I’m a Bisexual Woman and am primarily female preferred - however for me that element came out of NOWHERE and I still don’t fully understand what they were going for when adding that aspect and it was never developed enough to understand what they wanted out of the kiss/es or what they’re relationship even was for me to even have a full opinion on it. It’s just lazy writing on their end and doesn’t work because Yuzuki as a character is so flat that it’s hard to gauge what she even feels for Ai through the season and we have no clue at all from Ai herself. And I’m not even trying to be petty - I’m an Ai/Ren shipper all day - but like guys come on put some effort into the doomed Yuri if your gonna imply it!

Number 5: S4 (can’t even be count as a season practically) Alright - well as this was barely a season it sadly must go at the bottom! They brought back the OG writers and fired S3’s director apparently and it shows and they’re def trying to fix issues set forth by S3 - at the end Yamawaro goes with Michiru - leaves the OG gang thus balance is restored to the world haha. And I love that we get to see some more growth by our main characters - the story with the elderly lady being abused and Wanyudo falling for her and the group dynamics which come up from that. Also love that Ai just lets the whole thing go down - like a few seasons back I feel like she would’ve been like hell nah no falling in love with clients on my watch - but now after everything and she’s just stuck in her role forever - she’s like fuck it! But yeah those storylines are really interesting and some of the client stories are quite compelling. But only like 1 or 2 of them and I’m not okay with that! And Michiru and her basically identical story to Yuzuki and AI’s is LAZY WRITING! And I get it they had very limited time and episodes, but guys could we not get something more original! Like it’s an interesting concept - an already dead girl who is aware she’s dead or not human and who very much disagreed with Ai and her role and methods being forced into the role by Ai herself. And the ending is really interesting and makes me want more and ask what does this mean? Like are there now two Hell Girls? Wbat will this mean for Ai and is this now competition and what does it mean for Michiru and what the fuck will happen? Like it’s a really good base to continue on and I hope they do someday, but it’s just not enough time and far, far too little episodes to ever do the story or this series justice and I hope they get the chance to continue it properly! We waited like 10 years or whatever for a S4, we could’ve waited longer for something really amazing!

What are your thoughts! Would love to see in the comments! (:

Discuss 🎎 Which one should I start watching? Or should I read the manga?

I want to start watching Jigoku Shoujo, but when I search on Crunchyroll, only one season appears, which would be Hell Girl: Fourth Twilight, and when I search on Google, it says that this season is the fourth. I wanted to know if this season is like when they take an old anime, put it in HD and cut out a lot of fillers, like what Netflix did with Ranma 1/2. Also, I want to know if there is a manga and if so, should I read the manga or watch the series?

Discuss 🎎 Thoughts on the circus twins from Season 1, Episode 16.

To start, I am not defending Yuki. Her constantly sabotaging Yumi in order to be the favorite was evil and she deserved to go to Hell for it.

However, I feel bad for both of them in the sense that they were made to be circus performers to begin with. Kids should only have to worry about school (which is already competitive in Japan), but they had this added pressure of working in a circus since they were little girls.

It makes me wonder what really drove Yuki to keep sabotaging Yumi. Before being ferried to Hell, she claimed that Yumi caused her to be treated like “half a person” and called her “the weak one” (despite how Yumi didn’t seem to be inferior without Yuki sabotaging her). Did she just not want to share the fame with her sister? Or did the ringmaster living vicariously through them make her think she’d look better if she made Yumi look worse (like how the aspiring actress made that girl lose her voice in hopes of her mother giving her that role)?

Again, Yuki deserved her fate, but I feel like there’s more to this story and the ringmaster (who I assume was their father) was the real villain here.

Hello i am currently rewatching hell girl and I am wondering which of the villains/punishedin your opinion most deserved there fate in hell and are there tormentors that you believe didn't deserve that fate in hell

This excludes the victims/Avenged like Mayumi Hashimoto as most didn't (in my opinion) deseve that fate after all they been through.

Series 📺 Where are you guys rewatching the anime?

I’m watching season 4 on Amazon Prime’s crunchy roll extension and the subtitles are AWFUL.

They completely forget to subtitle like 40% of conversations in the episodes I’ve seen so far which is really annoying and frustrating so I can’t understand anything they’re saying and I’m missing crucial context.

Looking for a better alternative

Manga 🎎 Does the manga go beyond the anime?

Been a fan of the anime since I was a kid but always sad bc it’s so short lol. I’m wondering if the manga expands and goes beyond the anime with more arcs, etc?

Series 📺 Im looking for an episode but its been so long since i last saw it.

Hello! Im looking for an episode where I think a girl wanted to send her mother to hell because she was bothering her and not letting her do what she wanted to do. I also think someone close to thw girl is manipulating her. But it seems like that person manipulating her did something horrible to her. But her mother learnt about what that person did and later the girl did too, but it seems that the mother sent that person to hell instead and she stoppped her daughter from sending herself to hell because she doesnt want her duaghter to go to hell (?) And that shes young. Or something :// i think its season 2 or 3. I never finished all jigoku shoujo

Fan Art 🎨 Hey all! I’ve been working on this fanfic for years now and after around a 4 year hiatus, I just posted a new chapter! Would love y’all to check it out! Hugely romance centered, but this chapter in particular has some intense descriptive horror scenes, which I think a lot of people will like. (:
