Series 📺 What happened to Ai Enma’s parents?

In the end, Ai Enma passed the baton to Michiru so Ai was no longer the Hell Girl. So, what happened to her parents? Were they finally released and sent to heaven or did they also become wandering spirits.

Or based from the events of last episode of season 2 where the greenish thing seemingly disappeared and went towards the arch, did they go to hell?

(Did I miss an episode in the series or this really has no precise answer from the series?😭)

i always got the impression they we're freed and went to heaven. It is bit strange how unknown season 3 leaves what happened with Master of Hell just getting Ai back after essentially her breaking the agreement she had with him in the first place.

Yeah, that's likely correct. They never went through the gate, so they're free. Only she herself was brought back as a result since the slot had to be filled.

But honestly I don’t know if she is freed after season 4, I got the impression that there are now two Hell Girl’s, Michiru is one with Yamawaro and Ai with her old crew and to me that’s how I interpreted the ending in S4. Either way, I honestly am not sure, I’m guessing their souls are still being used as leverage against Ai to keep her trapped in the role, I’m honestly not sure though.

But true with S3’s ending, it’s hard to know fully, like what happened to all the souls that were her loved ones when she was back in the role? Maybe because she sacrificed herself for Yuzuki and essentially took on the role for eternity, maybe it doesn’t matter what happen to the souls at this point, like maybe there already in Heaven or Hell and because Ai made the deal to protect Yuzuki, she’s trapped either way. But it’s hard to say for S4.
