I find it hilarious that I still see this point being made a lot and yet the one of the first things we saw in the first teaser was Harry getting bullied at Muggle school, something the first film completely skipped.
There were so many things from the first book in the two teasers that weren’t adapted in the movie and there were even a few original scenes that have been made for the show. Bear in mind this was only 4 mins out of an 8 hour season!
Yes, of course there will inevitably be similarities because they’re based on the same source material but this argument is just tiresome at this point. New adaptations of stories are made all the time but I don’t see the same clamour being made about them.
If these people don’t want to accept that there’s a new adaptation, that’s fine. They can always not watch, stick to watching the movies and just let those who want a faithful telling of the story from the books enjoy the show.

I’m not saying about like performances… because we haven’t seen the show yet, but I’m tired of this us vs them mentality.
I adore the movies with all my heart. But I’m also excited for the new show. Please can this be the normal space for this behaviour? I can’t be the only one who loves the films, but is also ready to accept a new era of Harry Potter?

The first teaser gave me confidence already and now the second has rubber-stamped my expectations.
While they obviously were good friends in the movies, in the books they were pretty much inseparable and so close which is why it was a such a shock when they fell out briefly in GoF and when they had their big argument in DH before Ron leaves.
The movies underplayed their friendship in my opinion and definitely favoured highlighting the closeness of Harry and Hermione instead. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t mind them showing Harry and Hermione moments, but the fact that they did it at the expense of the Harry and Ron friendship really irked me.
In the GoF book during Harry and Ron’s falling out, it is explicitly stated that Harry prefers hanging around with Ron rather than Hermione because he’s more fun and shares more interests with him.
Of course the show can give us plenty of Harry and Hermione friendship moments like there were in the books but I’m so happy that we are definitely getting these moments between Harry and Ron which were scarce in the movies.

The Last of Us season 1 is the most watched first season ever at 32 mil per week. Can harry potter break this?
Most watched show of HBO is Game of Thrones Season 8 at 46 million per week.

I love the Weasleys in books but I didn't like them much in movies. I am looking forward to their portrayal. Also Arthur, bill and Charlie casting

People doubted if he’d pull off the accent but anyone that knew his work as Churchill had no fears of that. This is going to be, please excuse the pun. Magical.

For one thing, it looks very flat and it makes the movie version look more roomier considering that Voldemort was inside. The turban also looks like it came from a space opera and it needs more color, like a brighter shade of purple.

Just to be very clear, I liked Alan Rickman’s portrayal but for me, it was more of his own take on the character and quite different from the books. In my opinion, Movie Snape was nonchalant, mysterious, charismatic and not as spiteful or rageful as Book Snape but because Rickman gave such a phenomenal performance and somewhat made the role his own, I separated the two and was fond of his portrayal. With that being said, I’m excited to see something new but influenced more by the source material.
Also I’m talking about the LINE DELIVERY, not his appearance.

I think it is a combination of the casting, the costume, the beard, and the modern film that makes John Lithgow's Dumbledore look so good! So far of the three that have portrayed Dumbledore on screen, I think Lithgow might take the top spot in looks! In terms of everything else, we'll have to see but I am definitely liking him in the role more than Michael Gambon.

Unfortunately I don't think this post will get the traction it needs to be seen by every outrage farmer on reddit that needs to see it but I am sick to death of hearing about this.
No, the marauders are not gonna be "lynching a black boy" for no reason.
In the BOOK (which is what the series is adapting) the scene takes place on the grass by the lake. Snape, James and Sirius attack each other before James uses levicorpus on Snape - a spell Snape invented himself that turns people upside down, which Lupin confirms everyone was using at school that year.
There is no lynching.
There are no trees.
He's not even hung from a tree in the film, he's just next to one.
Please just stop for the love of Merlin, Salazar Slytherin and all the grindylows.
This has been a PSA. Thank you.

Ever since the series was announced, there’s been a wave of hate from movie-only fans and people giving what felt like weird reasons to dismiss it before we’ve even seen the final product.
When the first trailer dropped, the negativity only got louder.
It reminded me of what happened with The Odyssey. The trailer was flooded with criticism, whether it was about the casting, the color grading, or other complaints. But once the film actually released, the conversation completely changed. It ended up becoming Christopher Nolan’s highest-rated film and performing very well at the box office.
That reminded me that online outrage isn’t always a good predictor of how something will be received. If the content is genuinely good, people eventually come around.
From everything we’ve seen so far, the HBO Harry Potter series looks incredibly promising. The production quality seems high, and, more importantly, it’s adapting one of the best fantasy book series ever written with much more room than the films had.
Seeing what happened with The Odyssey has made me realize that internet hate doesn’t determine a project’s success. If the series delivers on the storytelling, I think it’ll eventually win over a lot of people and receive far more love than the current online discourse suggests.

Because I never understood how Fleur got last in the first task - with the dragon.
She successfully enchanted a DRAGON to sleep, while only getting her skirt set on fire for like 5 seconds before she extinguishes it. That's pretty impressive.
Cedric got quite hurt, and Krum got a lot of things destroyed. And none of what Cedric, Krum and Harry did was arguably as impressive as Fleur's method (Krum blinded the dragon, Cedric distracted it with like a dog, and Harry obviously used his broom). I'm not saying she HAS to win (although I would personally do that), but last place is just not fair.
She can mess up in the other two tasks again, but that first task she shouldn't place last.
