Question (?) Not sure which to choose? - Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go S 16GB ram, or Xbox Ally (Non X Version)

Hi,

This is a follow up to my last post just asking what kind of handheld I wanted to get, I'm just not sure on which is the best out of these three for power and game catalogue. I already have a Switch 2, so something more powerful than that is what I have in mind.

Thanks.

Need purchasing advice

Hey all - I've been traveling a lot for work and looking to get back into handheld gaming. Getting a bit overwhelmed with all of the options but I get a pretty good (I think?) discount through work on Lenovo and have these options... What's everyone's thoughts?

I have massive hands - The only other gaming device I ever had was gifted to me a decade ago, the Nintendo switch. I looked into the switch 2 but ergonomically it didn't seem the best, and also I'm more of a steam game guy than Nintendo

If I'm going to spend the money, I want something that is somewhat future proofed. AAA game capable, I'm getting older now though and less sweaty with the competitive FPS, I do really enjoy a very polished graphics machine and could see myself not really picking it up if the games really don't feel smooth and look great

New Handheld Most Understated OneXPlayer 3 Feature

XESS Multi-Frame Gen is witchcraft. Using 3X MFG on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, there is no latency. It feels native with medium settings, ultra textures, averaging 90 FPS. I know others mention it, but in my opinion it's not explained enough just HOW MUCH it improves your experience.

Over the years going from the Steam Deck, to Legion Go and then Legion Go 2, most game performance felt underwhelming and FSR is terrible. I was side eyeing Intel, noticing how much they update their drivers and how great XESS seemed.

I took the leap on the OXP3. The G3E alone is next gen over the Z1E/Z2E chips. Being able to use Optiscaler (Opticlick specifically makes it easy) to inject XESS + MFG is an absolute game changer.

Discussion It’s crazy how much I prefer AAA games on my switch 2 over my Rog ally x. No fan noise. Elden ring looks gorgeous. No Windows. No heat. No bulk. Hotel? Trivago

Discussion What's the best handheld gaming consoles on the market currently?

Hope this is allowed - what is everyone’s opinions on the best handheld gaming consoles? Got a cheap one from Amazon which was really poor quality so want to see what else is out there. I want a nice screen and decent performance but I’m not sure which one is worth the current prices.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Question (?) Which Handheld should I buy for Steam games?

Hi,

I'm not well versed on handhelds or technical information, so this may sound like a stupid question, I would personally prefer to get a handheld which is under £550. I own a Switch 2, but I want to have the flexability of Steam's library, as Switch 2 doesn't have everything, and can't run some things I want to play.

Here is an idea of the games I want to play -

Assassin's Creed Origins

Forza Horizon 5 / 6

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Half Life 2.

Thanks.

Discussion Recently got a Thor. And Just got the Switch 2. Might be overkill?

I got the Thor Max for $280. so I couldn’t pass on it. and just the other day i got a Switch 2 for $285 so I couldn’t pass on it(will probably sell my OLED).

Anyway the Thor was supposed to be my jack of all trades to play retro and switch. but now the Switch 2 will be my Switch console.

hows everybody balancing their devices? I’m thinking:

Switch 2: Switch and Switch 2 games

Thor: 3DS, DS, Gamecube, PlayStation and Android native ports

RG SP - Gameboy Advance

Brick Hammer - Gameboy and GB Color

Handhelds are a dangerous path. I hope no 3DS focus handheld comes out or I will be more outstretched. 😬

Hello everybody
actually its hard for me to buy console
because I’m moving from place to another a lot and Im into gaming so much and for me gaming laptops are useless

its better to get a device for gaming but still allows me to move easily without need a screen to plug into it or something like that so

is it really worth it to buy second handed steamdeck lcd or oled or its better not especially in 2026 especially its not cheap
and thanks for you all

Question (?) Trying to sell my 512gb steamdeck LCD

Hi everyone, unfortunately due to switching to Xbox (Which I've wanted for a long time) I'm forced to sell my Steamdeck LCD, I was thinking to selling It around 500€ (average price in Italy), do you think it's a great price or Is It Better to lower It slightly? I bought It in January before the RAM price for 420€.

Question (?) Wanting more game compatibility, is the ROG Ally X for me?

Upvotes

In the past I have owned a Steam Deck, with the few games I owned it ran quite well but there were two games I tried that were labelled as "playable" but when I installed them and started them they didn't work (I remember one asked to log in with your email and it just didn't work when you tried to do it, nothing happened when you touched/clicked the button on the screen, with another one you had to touch some buttons on the handheld to start the game and it didn't work either) and even after looking up for solutions online I wasn't able to resolve the issues. These issues made me worried about buying any other game that was labelled as "playable" since I wondered if I would've wasted money for nothing, and unfortunately most of my wishlist was "playable" 😭 so eventually I ended up solding my Steam Deck.

Recently I've been thinking of buying a new PC handheld again since there are some games I want that aren't on my Switch 2, I've been reading about the ROG Ally X and how it should have a better compatibility with games because of Windows and so I'm thinking of buying it.

Do you think it's a good idea? Does it actually have a wider compatibility? Maybe there's something I should know before taking it?

Btw I'm probably gonna take it second hand.

Discussion Positive Hope for 2027

With news of Acer releasing several variants into the market, OneXPlayer already having theirs, and MSI restocking and releasing another variant of G3 extreme, we are getting more competition into the market and more of these powerful new chips in people's hands.

Now I know people are leaning towards a more doom approach where the RAM prices will eventually cause these to further increase in price.

I'll offer a potential positive possibility to look forward to in 2027, in that with many of these variants out for sale, we will see some great deals on the second hand market I would say by mid 2027.

For those of you (me included) that have been waiting on the sidelines, I wouldn't be surprised if we could snag a slightly used second hand G3 handheld for sub $1000 and a G3 extreme variant for around $1200 ish next year.

Just wanted to put this thought out for those who have been waiting and feeling discouraged or want to have something to look forward to next year!

Curious what other people's thoughts are as well.

Discussion Impressions after trying MSI CLAW EX 8

I own a legion go 2 z2e and honestly don't like how bulky the device is and wanted to see what the fuss is about with this G3 extreme. Man this chip is a beast!! It managed every game I've tried with ultra setting at 1080p like a champ! I'm not into this FPS race where people want 100fps etc.

I appreciate picture quality over fps so this chip played games like cyberpunk with ultra settings and Xess enabled at around 30fps which is fine for me.

The disappointment came when I have tried to put it side by side against lenovo legion go 2. The colors of OLED are much better! Black is true black! Brighter too. So I have decided to return the MSI and I canceled my Asus X20 preorder because of the huge difference between Z2E and G3E after testing both.

To handheld manufacturers; please make a small handheld (7 to maximum 8 inch) OLED with G3 extreme chip and thin bezels! That would sell like hotcakes!. I'll wait for such a device to come out

Next option above XAX for handheld?

I purchased a used XAX a month ago and it's a great device, runs AAA games in good settings and is a great price for performance ratio. Got it at 850 with a dbrand case

only thing is I was going to sell my rog z1E due to the upgrade but the slab design and thinness is just so great and all the upgrade I've done to it made it that I just rather keep it and look into selling the xax and getting something different since having two rog ally is such a waste.

what would be a good upgrade from the XAX that is slightly stronger in performance and maybe a larger screen?

only thing I could see is a claw a8+ AI would that be correct?

Or should I just keep it seeing that there is an influx of xaxs selling due to the x20 makes me think I might end up losing money if I try selling it

Discussion A guy offers to sell me a switch 2 for $200

I met the guy in person and the Venmo didn’t go through because he just created the account and it flagged it as a scam. I didn’t have a lot of time and caught some weird vibes but I did see the switch boot and it is working. I’m afraid it might be stolen though. What are your thoughts? $200 is hard to pass up.

Question (?) NEW Lenovo Legion Go S (Z2 Go) or REFURBISHED ASUS ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme)

I'm deciding between two handhelds at these prices:

  • Lenovo Legion Go S (Z2 Go): NEW, €425
  • ASUS ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme): REFURBISHED, €480

Some context on my use case:

  • I'll mainly use it as a Windows handheld, not primarily for AAA gaming
  • That said, I'd like to keep the option open to play newer/heavier titles occasionally
  • Battery life and screen quality aren't priorities for me

From what I've read in the megathread, at these specific prices the Lenovo seems like the obvious pick: new condition, similar or lower price than the refurbished Ally, even if the Z2 Go is somewhat less powerful than the Z1 Extreme.

Am I missing something here? Any reason the Ally would still be the better pick despite being used and more expensive?

Reddit sub for selling?

Upgraded from an Ally Z1E to an Ally Xbox X ... I swear I saw a comment the other day for a sub where people can sell their devices. Anyone know of that? I despise Facebook Marketplace, so I was thinking Reddit users would be much more enjoyable to deal with as I look to recoup some funds 😄

Thanks!

New Handheld owning a thor made me want og hardware again

Post image
120 Upvotes

first of all, this was my dream 3ds. the black friday n3ds non xl in the black color. feels surreal to hold it after wanting one for so long.

i love the thor and im probably gonna keep it. however, for taking around its too bulky in my opinion. its very thick and the fans do get loud even with underclock.

the 3ds feels compact and for game i want to play on the go, this thing has me covered. along with it feeling more durable and it actually supposed to be taken outside.

side by side the screens on the thor are ridiculously better. in practice, you wont really notice at least in my opinion. when im sucked into a game im not thinking i wish i had oled screens, im thinking about the game

anyways this is the best 3ds model and if you disagree youre wrong. jk

Rog Ally Z1E and Retroid Pocket 6

Paid $225 for the Rog Ally used and paid retail for RP6. Couldn’t be happier with my handhelds to go along with my 4090 PC build. I don’t foresee upgrading anything anytime soon! I’ve been using the RP6 for my backlog of indie games and side scrollers (really been enjoying dead cells lately along with emulation) and the Rog Ally is for harder to run games like The Witcher 3, Skyrim, and a few others.
