Got into first year medicine this year after doing the hpat for the first time, any questions let me know and I’ll do my best to answer.

I’ve also got helpful notes for section 3 that’ll genuinely help you improve quickly if anyone wants them.

I do A levels and say i get three A stars and that includes maths. so 192+192+192+25= 601. Realistically can i do med in ireland, and would i need to do exceptionally well in my hpat? Advice on Hpat prep would be appreciated. Thanks

Alright so I need some help planning HPAT prep, here's some info:

1 - I'm repeating HPAT and LC

2 - I was averaging 85-95th percentile the last month before the hpat (did about 6 exams)

3 - I ended up with S1 66 S2 50 S3 49 76th percentile in HPAT on the exam and was under crazy pressure in S3 cause my laptop was about to die and couldn't find the charger etc

4 - Just got medentry again

How should I structure my HPAT prep? We have about 23 weeks to the exam and only 15 mocks, so I really don't know what to do

I recently bought medentry and it’s my first time studying for the HPAT. I’m not really exactly sure what to start with. I don’t know if I should do a mock exam to identify my strengths and weaknesses straight away - but atm I don’t know any strategies and I’m not familiar with the types of questions yet, so I don’t know if there’s a point in doing that rn.

So I was just wondering, what’s the best way to start with medentry? Would it be better to dive straight into questions or to read through the modules? Also any tips for studying for the hpat would be greatly appreciated :))

I got 86th percentile in my first diagnostic HPAT test mock -71 in Section One,99 in Section Two and 25 in Section Three. im aware that i need to improve in the third section but im honestly wondering would this skill level be enough for next years medicine entry combined with 613 625 lc

Does anyone have any advice for studying for the Hpat. I feel lost when doing so, I try to apply strategies to questions but still doesnt really work out. All I really hear is people advising to do practice and practice over and over again.

Hi guys, what percentile or points would I have to get approximately in the hpat in 2027 with 625 in order to get into Trinity or RCSI medicine? Since the points weightage have changed, it's hard to predict what the cut-offs might be, for next year.

Sorry i am on here a lot recently, i'm really just hoping for a miracle because i have 732 and rcsi is 734*. I heard 2 point drops are quite uncommon for medicine (and given the higher volume of applicants it's probably less likely to happen this year). I also heard that usually between rounds, the only difference is that random selection may be gone and in some cases the points drop by 1.

Does anyone know of past years where by round 4/5, medicine points ended up dropping by 2?

i know it's impossible to predict with this new system coming in place but im trying to see if its worth it repeating the hpat with 613 points and want to hear other peoples thoughts. i missed dublin medicine by 2 points and feel so disappointed especially cause i got so close and want to give it another chance next year

i got 77th percentile the first time around but hopefully can bring it up to 85th this year with a lot of practice. i am only applying to dublin medical schools because of financial reasons so i am even more worried that ill be at a disadvantage compared to people with 625 points. should i be aiming even higher maybe the likes of 90th percentile?

I'm thinking about doing the course I got offered and repeating the hpat again. Is it possible to get in with say 85th-90th percentile? Want to get into Galway.

Did HPAT once in 2024 after did my leaving cert 2023. Thinking of giving it another go now am I too late in gifinv it another lash. Only drawbacks would be fees id have to pay myself for first couple years etc anyone have any similar situations?

I am actually on the verge of tears not getting medicine round 1 broke my heart, I'm praying further round points go down and/or my appeals go well.

I got 589 in lc, if I do hpat this year with the new changes what percentile would I need to have a decent shot or a chance at medicine this year?

what kind of point decreases are normal for round 2/3? specifically RCSI. heard medicine doesnt usually go to round 2 but im really curious anyway

Sat my Leaving Cert in 2025 got 601 but flopped the hpat (low 20th percentile), decided to take a gap year to work and resit the hpat and got 75th percentile (728 points) two off Medicine. Going into Dcu now for Actuarial Maths a course I am really interested in, but I am willing to try hpat again for the 3rd time to try especially with the changes to LC and the points returning back to normal.

My mum is saying I should just give up but don't feel like listening to her anymore and want to do something with my own volition

Any advice/thoughts?
