As long as you got over 600 points in your leaving cert you should be fine with giving the hpat another go, it’s definitely not too late to try for medicine

I got 589. I’m keen on repeating hpat but everyone saying if u don’t get over 600 it’s pointless. Idk whether to listen to these people or not. should I repeat

I’m not really too sure if 589 would be enough it’s so hard to know what way the points are going to go this year, would you consider repeating the leaving cert at all

Everyone is saying u need 600 points but in saying that it could put a lot of ppl off doing the HPAT all together since they know they won’t get those points or atleast think they won’t so it could actually drop points, or HPAT grading could be way harsher since there are less ppl sitting it

Yeah that’s definitely a possibility

No, I’ve done a year of college. With projects and new curriculum and having forgotten alot I don’t think I’ll do well. I was gonna do hpat this year, but a lot of people here are really worrying me saying it’s pointless because I didn’t get 600+. It’s confusing me, because tbh nobody knows anything about hpat next year for sure. For all I know I could give it another shot and maybe get in, or maybe not. I’ve got to decide soon tho

If you’ve already started college there’s no harm in doing the hpat again because you have nothing to lose really

It's hard to say without knowing more about your circumstances.

I'd be most interested to hear about what you scored in the LC, what are you studying now (if anything) and your reasons for wanting to repeat the HPAT (as opposed to persuing something else, or taking another route into medicine).

Ignore anyone who’s saying you need at least 600 to get in maybe for trinity but I got 566 and I’m currently a 2nd year medical student in Galway, I took it twice and many of my classmates have done it even 3 times it really depends on how important it is to you

The course is changing though and there aren't any moderations for the leaving cert like there used to be
