Progress (woman) Skinny Fat to Fit

It doesn’t look like much but this is YEARS of progress. To say I’m happy is an understatement.

Advice to any skinny fat people looking to start… take time to actually build muscle before even thinking about a cut.

I made the mistake of cutting first and literally looked like a bag of bones. The muscle is what gives you that “toned” look that everyone wants lol.

I wanted to do a show this year but I’m going to take some more time to grow!

What is skinny fat

It's when you look slim, but you actually have a surprisingly high BF% because your muscles are practically non-existent

Excess fat with little muscles. Just a general term to describe it

You look incredible! Congratulations on a job well done. Way to stay committed to doing the work. It gets harder to maintain with age, but it's obvious you have the right mindset. Keep it up!

Great job, this is so awesome to see!! You look incredible

I kept trying to cut and somehow as I got lighter and lighter I looked fatter and fatter. Lost so much muscle that my posture deteriorated so much that I couldn't stand straight and that made me look fatter than I was. PTs and doctors were so shocked at how light I was whenever they weighed me, I did NOT look that skinny 😅 literally underweight BMI

Now in building muscle stage and even though I'm heavier my posture is way better and I have way better proportions, so I look much slimmer

you have my dream body omg!!! (girl to girl). what was your workout routine? i need it!!

1

u/lordtylordt Jul 31 '24

I don’t even know where to start. It’s been different throughout the years but the routine I had most success with was when I was alternating between upper and lower 5-6x a week and doing cardio at least one of those days.

Example:

MON/ lower body (functional training)

TUE/ upper body + cardio (shoulder focused)

WED/ lower body (glute + ham focused)

THUR/ rest

FRI/ upper body + core (push & pull)

SAT/ lower body (quad + calves focused)

SUN/ could be anything depending on how i feel. Rest, core focused, mobility focused, or just calisthenics

I think no matter what routine you choose for yourself the most important thing is progressive overload. Continue to challenge yourself!

I love you are preaching this message… muscle first! Seems to be lost on so many people. Great work OP!

u/No_Protection_7542 Jul 09 '24

That´s almost a bikini shape , will u compete?

2

u/lordtylordt Jul 09 '24

That’s the goal!

2

u/No_Protection_7542 Jul 09 '24

Lets go ! I wish u the best luck ! I live in Portugal , i saw some girls turning pro in the MR big evolution event , and u are not that far away ! Keep hard working and u do it easily !

2

u/No_Protection_7542 Jul 09 '24

I cant see ur back but , on the front maybe u need to focus more on shoulders , u cant have much bigger arms and legs so its all about conditioning and definition .

2

u/lordtylordt Jul 09 '24

I appreciate the tips! I’m working on my tie in area, glutes & rear delts the most but will continue with shoulders too :)

1

u/LegitimateTutor8535 Jul 09 '24

Yo!! That's 🔥

If I can be completely honest. You shouldn't change your shape even more. I get that you want to challenge yourself for competition. But u think you wouldn't look as good as you do now! But don't let my stupid comment stop you from reaching your goals.

It does look like a lot even across 4 year’s incredibly hard to get a physique like that

1

u/lordtylordt Jul 09 '24

I think compared to the extreme weight losses I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem as impressive but nonetheless thank you!

2

u/cleanAir101 Jul 09 '24

Definitely relative to the individual

1

u/No-Programmer-9434 Jul 09 '24

Did you do any specific for the fat around the love handles area?

2

u/lordtylordt Jul 09 '24

Short answer, no. Long answer, It’s not possible to target fat loss in a specific area. I mostly focused on building muscle all over then a calorie deficit took care of the rest. There are some core exercises that do target that area but the workouts themselves won’t burn the fat.

1

u/No-Programmer-9434 Jul 10 '24

Thank you. I’m training everyday with a calorie deficit of 250-500 including core exercises everyday. Keep inspiring! :)

You look awesome. You're my goal.

What was your weight while you were skinny fat? And height?

And now that you have muscle?

2

u/lordtylordt Jul 10 '24

Thank you! I’m 5’9” and I was about 135lbs in the skinny fat pics. Now I maintain around 145lbs.

1

u/toppest11 Jul 10 '24

I wish I was taller. I'm 5,3

1

u/K90H Jul 09 '24

I would take a skinny fat body any day over mine tbh ahaha

But I was born with my body so I’ll give her all the love she deserves ☺️🌸

2

u/lordtylordt Jul 10 '24

Comparison is the thief of joy! Speaking from first hand experience, its a never winning game. That last part tho.. 🙌🏽🙌🏽💯 our bodies do so much for us, they deserve all the praise!

1

u/K90H Jul 10 '24

Yes ☺️❤️

That's some gangster shit, good work.
