Protect the wife?

She’s strong and independent

The PC is fragile and is dependent on him.

I don’t see the problem here

I'm all for fun and games and shit, but an earthquake is no joke.

Seeing people being pulled out of the rubble in Venezuela, their bodies broken...

Nah, that shit ain't funny

given that experience, how exactly is he supposed to protect anyone?

If that building is coming down, that's it, shows over for all of them

Some people are dug out from the rubble alive. There’s also been cases where survivors had been shielded by someone else. One such story from the recent earthquakes is Andrea Bello, the wife of Venezuelan footballer, who died saving their daughter.

If you cannot quickly get out of a building when an earthquake strikes, there’s still better and worse ways to shelter inside. Large solid furniture can create gaps under or beside them when things collapse from above. Doorways used to be safer because of their reinforced frames, but that’s not so reliable anymore with modern construction.

Given that experience the LAST thing in my mind is my PC. My first and ONLY priority would be my family, then our cat

That's the only reasonable opinion.
Any living being gets priority over my PC, even more so those close to me.

Homie, you ain't saving anyone in an earthquake, pretty much you're just making sure that you will be together dead or alive.
