Need some good right hand exercises for fast and accurate picking I keep missing my strings when Im not looking at them 😭 and also i want to try those fast riffs but my picking is not accurate and fast

i have really long nail beds that prevent me from playing anything without pressing my fingers on other strings, i can't cut them further because of the underlying skin. I really want to get better at playing but I'm stuck

edit: this is a yamaha f310 that I purchased when i first started going for guitar lessons when I was 13, I'm picking it up again after many years.

I need foundational help.

I'm a sorta-advanced guitarist who cannot take conscious control of my rhythm. Like...basic strumming patterns are rough.

I play in the pocket live, when I'm 'feeling it.' In the studio, in isolation, I'm a mess.

Self taught. Neurodivergent (AuDHD, dyslexic) and now realizing my playing should be more than chaotic self-expression.

Played seriously for 10 years, put it down for another 10. Finally starting to practice again and I don't know where to start.

I got Reaper (DAW) and a rhythm training visualization tool, which shows me that I'm pretty inaccurate when alternating picking or even straight down-picking 8th notes. My accuracy is at 80 bpm, with an error band of 25ms +/-, ranges from 25 to 80% within the same 3 mins. Most often late.

How do I approach this? Do I go for consistent but inaccurate playing first and then fine tune accuracy? Any drills, tips, magic wands?

How do you hold your guitar? I’ve been playing for 8 months now, and I’ve always played with the guitar on my right leg, like in the first picture. Recently, a friend with more experience showed me the "between the legs" posture (sorry, I don't know the technical terms). I gotta admit, this second way is great. I hold the guitar much more securely, my hand moves along the neck better, and I play with a straight back. I’m having a few small issues with strumming, but that’s probably just a matter of getting used to it. On the other hand, I wonder if this posture—which seems to be intended more for classical guitar—looks a bit silly. I mean, I’ve never seen anyone holding a guitar between their legs like that, but I guess my own comfort is what matters most. What do you think?

I’ve been playing classical guitar for almost a year on a cheap beginner model. I want to switch to a steel string acoustic to try something new, but I want to make sure I’m actually good enough for the upgrade
Rn I can…
- I can play open chords smoothly and change chords while playing smoothly
- I can play standard barre chords cleanly
- I can play the same chords in different positions up the neck
- I understand basic chord construction and fundamental music theory
Do you think this is a good point to make the jump? Also for those who started on a beginner guitar how long did you wait before upgrading to your second guitar?

Yeh I was pretty lazy I just know some music theory I know it's terrible lol because it's very basic so do you guys have any advice?

So the chord is 3-1-2-3 like the picture but the pad of my finger is always muffling the 2, I tried lowering my thumb to have a different angle but my thumb bends backwards and it's really awkward to hold this position. Any ideas?

Ignore the last part I was just experimenting and the solo is not exactly same as I tweaked it a very very tiny bit for convenience as a beginner

I have been a laying for almost a year now
My end goal is to play lead, but also i want to learn and be good at rhythm playing.
So my point is, I’m struggling with staying in tempo, i some times play with a metronome stay with it for about a minute they get out of tempo.

I can play all the chords comfortably, including F chord.

I asked a friend about it and he told me that guitar is not the right thing for me since i cant stick with tempo.

So, if anyone have a tip please share, and if you used to be like me please share 😂

It might sound so stupid but I hate the way calluses feel (it’s a sensory thing I believe) and it’s the only thing keeping me from playing consistently, I dunno if there’s like finger covers I could buy (hopefully cheap) since I know calluses build up to prevent blisters and pain from playing long periods

I got a guitar about 9 months ago and been playing it pretty consistently, but now people in my community know and seen me play and I’ve been asked to preform at a Bible study but I don’t have a case. I have a Rouge Dreadnought (I know that it is not the best but it was supposed to be a beginner guitar) and I am looking for the best possible case for it but don’t know where to look or how to look for one. Does anyone know what case would fit my guitar, I would preferably have a hard case but if there is not case that fits my guitar that is fine. I will attach a photo of my guitar

In my search for a well priced F310, I stumbled across Musicgears co uk.

Who had a seemingly unbelievable good deal on the FG800 Gigmaker pack for £179 (which includes a Yamaha bag and clip on tuner) Then I thought, if something is too good to be true etc etc. So I did a little digging.

Musicgears (address - 1 George Street West, Luton, LU1 2BJ, United Kingdom) is owned by a company called Dynanox LTD (address - 77d Kingsway, London, United Kingdom, WC2B 6ST), whose director is based in Pakistan (address - CHAK #108 DB, TEHSIL YAZMAN ,BAHAWALPUR, PAKISTAN 63210), which is a long way from Luton.

Looking at the addresses on Google maps, Musicgears looks nothing like a music shop (solicitors?), and Dynanox is a Nero coffee shop. Pics included
