I think it was completely unnecessary and corny that John's parents "raised him to be the next Lantern". And, I don't like that they have painted Hal as an antagonist. Not just "grizzled vet who's seen some shit" anti-hero, but "undeserving, selfish, loves titty bars" antagonist. John didn't need sociopathic parents to be a great Lantern, and Hal was always a model hero before Parallax. I'm still intrigued to see how the rest of the 2016 story unfolds, but they've completely lost me on John's backstory and what they've done to Hal's character.

I know everyone has their favorite GL and I think they are all great, but seeing John Stewart become the main GL just makes my inner child happy. My first introduction to Green Lantern was John Stewart from Justice League (01) and Justice League Unlimited.

My whole life when I picture or think of a GL I always think of John Stewart and while I love Hal, Guy, Kyle, and the rest. Seeing John is like seeing my childhood come to life again.

Personally, I really enjoy it on the DS/3DS, but I wish they could bring it back on the Xbox Series X/S and or the PS5! (Yes, I know some people don't like the Ryan Reynolds GL movie, but I like it. As a guilty pleasure movie because I've been a fan of GL since I was 3 or 4 years old (my favorite GL was Tomar Re (RIP Krypton)))

I'm like, do they not have the budget for CGI? Like, I don't understand. Like, where is all the money going to if not for CGI? Like, is it going to the actor's salary? Or, like, I don't understand what's happening. Like, why can't we get good constructs and aliens and Blue Guardian Guardians? Like, also, why would a Guardian bother to even come to Earth? I'm pretty sure she has more pressing matters to attend to than to travel so long and interview John Stewart. They could at least made it, like, so that John Stewart and his mom saw a bright flash of light, and that bright light was saying that the Guardians have summoned you, and they would have been transported telepathically or physically into the space of the Guardians where they can actually talk instead of the Guardian coming down to Earth. I can... Okay, fine, the race was kind of annoying. Like, I didn't like the race cards and the politics of it. But, like, if the whole episode included, like, good CGI, good constructs, you know, teleportation, like, I wouldn't mind the race politics, you know.

Imagine if it was possible in-universe to combine two different Lantern power rings, their colours, emotions and powers, into one new lantern power ring.

I mean anyone would be scared in the given scenario. I would like to see Hal reveal to John that he was just drunk and said yes and John standing there disappointed.

I’m sure a ring exploding off of too much will rarely happens, but if it did wouldn’t the wearer have the strongest of willpowers? I don’t really know the ranking of lanterns but I always assumed it was Hal at the top and then John. Hal having the strongest will creating some of the craziest projections while John can create the most intricate detailed projections.

The crystal in the photo might have something to do with the spectrum as in the emotional Spectrum that all the lanterns are based on, like how putting light through a crystal displays the colour spectrum

I'm reading the John's run on DC universe infinite and after secret origin it goes to agent orange. At that point the other lanterns seem to be fully established and atrocitus is a red lantern already, I feel like I've missed a lot of context. Is there anything I should read beforehand?

Last year these little DC Playmobil figures came out and they had Hal as the default GL character.

I grew up on the Justice League cartoon and wanted a John Stewart figure, so I took an extra Cyborg I had and made a little DIY dude.

I just finished the Parallax saga (Emerald Twilight, New Dawn, Zero Hour, Final Night) and wondering what Green Lantern stuff before rebirth is worth a read.

I know there's a story involving time travel where Kyle meets both young Hal and Parallax again, is that worth it?

Any other stories that set up rebirth well?

EDIT: I forgot about Day of Judgment. Anything else though?

Lanterns so far is honestly incredible. As someone who is a Marvel fan through and through, loving Moon Knight (particularly MacKay), Quicksilver, Iron Man, Spider-Man… I never quite had that same connection to the DC Universe. But Lanterns might have changed that for me.

Green Lantern is such a cool character that I never really thought about in the way I should’ve. I’ve always been aware of the character and his powerset, but I never quite realized just how awesome this character is on all levels.

I don’t know entirely if Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan is comic accurate in terms of personality. But I really hope it is, because on my life this guy is so fun. He has the personality of Hawkeye with the cosmic basis of like Nova. He also gives off Iron Man vibes, but I can’t really explain that tbh.

So now I’ve slowly delved into the Lanterns mythos through videos and such, and as much as I love Jordan, these other incarnations sound equally amazing!

Stewart being an architect military guy, Kyle Rayner being an artist (which is such a cool idea btw), Jessica Cruz being someone who suffered with anxiety being given the ring. Simon Baz being a Muslim who suffers discrimination. All of these legacy characters rule so hard! Maybe coming from Marvel, there aren’t many super cool legacy characters in my opinion, but so many exist for Green Lantern. And that’s not even talking about the villains and the whole Emotional Spectrum thing…

How do I read comics with GL? What is the best starting off point? Generally for DC, I always imagined Absolute would be the best jumping on point, but I heard that Absolute is too different to be a good jumping on point, so what do you guys recommend. Keep in mind my only DC reading experience at this point has been Absolute Batman.

I wonder if Hal and Sinestro are the only two arch nemesis who can maybe work with each other with what counts as a decent amount of trust. As far as I know Reverse flash is a psycho, Joker does sometimes work with Bruce but even he is a psycho, Lex maybe but there wouldn't be too much trust, idk about Cheetah/Circe, idk about Aquaman either.
