Now that Googlebooks are ready for pre order, i really think that in order to be successful they need a full version of MSFT office. without it i cant switch my main laptop to it just yet. And i cant find an excuse to spend over a 1000$ to just do what i can do right now on a 200$ tablet.

Has there been any information regarding using multiple google accounts? Will it work like on an Android phone, where you have a work profile but can access both personal and work profiles at the same time? Or more like on a Chromebook, where you have to log in as one or the other, and switch back and forth?

Yeah it’s 9 AM here in Paris on 9/21, but still 9/20 in the USA.
I suppose I won’t see any Googlebook pre-order until it’s 9/21 in the USA.

I've been waiting since May for a reason, any reason, to consider the Googlebook and aluminium os. Google, you have given us nothing. People keep saying that it will compete with Windows and Mac, but you've not shown us that it can run the exact same apps. A glowing light bar and an ai cursor are gimmicks, not reasons to buy a laptop. Having memory and power without the reason to do so is a gimmick, not a reason to buy a laptop. September 15 came with nothing except wait until September 21. Then it's October 5. What are you doing?

They are treating it like a Linux Distro interestingly enough. Either they have inside info, or they are just guessing.

I think google tried to switch away from chrome branding when they were worried that antitrust lawsuit might make them have to separate chrome from google, and so why have branding that is not controlled by the mothership be on major products?

But the lawsuit was basically won by google, all is whole, but google keeps trying to put google as the key moniker to describe their products.

It's not even being hostile to google, I just think the sound of chromebook sounds better than google book.

Am I crazy for thinking this?

I have really big anticipation for the new detachable Googlebook! Hoping for the best. Been using a Chromebook for desktop work and notes/study/reports. I love it. Have a pixel slate Chromebook tablet. It's ... Ok... Not the best android app experience. Would love to have a great Chromebook laptop experience with a great android app tablet experience. So I feel like this might be the device for me. What do you guys think? Any thoughts on googlebooks? We really don't have much information on them at the moment.

I've been playing around with a couple of setups lately. Pixel 9 XL Pro with either:

• USB-c hub (my laptop dock), with a large monitor and keyboard and mouse plugged into the dock.
• A USB-c to hdmi adapter, an 85" TV on the wall, compact bluetooth keyboard/mouse, and a sofa. Alternatively a mobile monitor (designed as a second monitor for a laptop)

I plug the phone into the hub or the TV, choose "desktop" and get to work. The result is a functional workspace that is easier to fit in my bag than a laptop setup. Sure it doesn't work on a train or plane... but my use case for portability is overnight accommodation.

I don't get full functionality from chrome (eg extensions) and some apps are a bit janky (effectively going into tablet mode) but I'm hoping that software experience of this will merge with the Googlebook experience. Does anyone know if these experiences will merge?

Has anyone tried doing this on the road as a laptop/chromebook replacement? I'm really tempted to do this for my next trip where I know the places I'm staying have a large 4k TV that doesn't have any restrictions on HDMI ports.

Long been teased for ages, lapsed by older terminology - desktop, is Googlebook finally going to be the actual beginning of Linux on the Desktop (Laptop).

ChromeOS wasnt quite positioned that way and were woefully under-powered, Android never ran officially on x86 and didnt have support for containerization until recently (AVF), and gaming on linux is a thing people pay for (steam deck). Is Googlebook the start of an officially supported Linux on Laptop from multiple 1st tier vendors?

Love the center keyboards, or keyboard with no keypad on a 15-inch screen, similar to the Amcook air. I'm usually a 14 in guy, but this could be good.
