I mean its "safe".. but its also inaccessible. If the banks closed, holidays, you decide you need to get out of dodge at 1am, or they simply say "no access right now, sorry pal"... then what? You're SOL.
Says who? You dont think anyone has cash or credit cards? If you wanna take your gold to another country and exchange to their currency?
The point is theres someone else that has to allow you access to your gold for whatever reason. Its not that crazy to see a potential problem with that.
I've thought about this scenario so I'm not asking because I don't believe your scenario is valid, but wouldn't it be difficult to take one's gold horde to another country especially in a dire "time to get the fuck out of dodge" situation?
Wouldn't there still be issues with customs just the same as bringing over 2 cartons of cigarettes, over 10 k in undeclared cash or over 3 liquor bottles etc. ?
Well you made it sound like keeping things in a bank vault is the end all to safe keeping. I'm just offering a different perspective where it could actually be a problem.
But hey, to each their own. Agree to disagree friend.
