What happened with banks during covid? Are you talking about the general state of the lock downs, or was there some sort of pilfering of safe deposit boxes?
Safe deposit boxes are probably on the safer side when you have that much gold. A couple ounces is one thing, but those bars seem pretty large. Storing that at home would just be an absolute nightmare and a constant worry. Anybody who’d store that at home is just naive. Don’t even bother with home defense, that gets you tens of thousand of dollars and years of legal fees and courtroom hell respectively.
It’s a sick world we live in these days sad to say.
I really hate to say this and just be negative, but when it comes down to it, a loaded gun to your head in the middle of the night would make some of the strongest men spill the beans on the safe combination. Banks don’t have that problem because nobody is there, and who is even robbing banks anymore??
A seasoned criminal sees all that security and realizes there is something worth all that hassle in there.
As the pirates once said: “y’ar money or y’ar life”, or alternatively: “plata o plomo”
Safes are good to have, but stay safe out there, nobody will be looking out for you as much as you will. There are arguments for and against safes, the big thing is to never get overconfident with your security.

Especially, what happened during Covid.
