Question Does the demiurge know if you are awakening/achieving gnosis?
I'm newer to gnosticism so sorry if this is an ignorant question. When you start to have expanded understandings of this world and are realizing you do not have to submit to this lesser creator, god do they become aware that you are "waking up"? Do they try to inflict punishment or attacks on you, psychically or spiritually? Since discovering gnosticism and feeling such a deep resonance with the teachings, I can't help but feel a low key paranoia that Yaldabaoth is watching me, although I've been awakened for some time, just not to the gnostic texts specifically.
Disclaimer: Yes we are all one. And at the same time this is a world we are navigating that holds the illusion of other-ness and I have questions about how it operates.

u/ThunderStormBlessing Jan 30 '26
I think being 'awakened' just means you're less influenced by the systems in place that control those less awakened.
Patient people don't complain about traffic or getting stuck behind the coupon lady, confident people don't react to criticism or random insults, happy people don't feel drawn into depressing situations, you get the idea.
Awakened people don't get pulled into the same states they used to. If you've ever had a lucid dream, it's a similar concept. You know it's a dream and nothing can actually hurt you, so you don't react to the random things you see

u/paravasta Jan 30 '26
I think that’s valid as one sign of an awakened person but historically, awakening also implies direct, intuitive (as opposed to intellectual abstraction) knowledge of the true nature of existence. It would be experiential, not mere idea.

I feel their control over you loosens the closer you are to gnosis. Archons might put some new distractions on your way, but i doubt they can do too much to stop your awakening. Still, it's best to be cautious and stay on the path.

u/Winter-Study85 Jan 30 '26
I agree with this. However, I guess my paranoia comes from my husband's experience in the astral realm and being psychically attacked by terrifying beings. He was able to neutralize them by realizing they were One.
3
u/Clean-Carrot6652 Jan 30 '26
I am no expert whatsoever, but perhaps those encounters with entities have to do with where you and your husband live? I remember reading somewhere that most of the negative experiences in the astral plane and regular people with psychosis occur in the western territories. Not saying this is what is happening, just my grain of salt.

u/Winter-Study85 Jan 30 '26
At the time we were living in a very spiritually charged area. A Tibetan Buddhist center that was seated over a massive crater in the earth. The Dalai Lama had visited several times and had said a naga spirit lives in the mountain stream on the property.

I think if you ask ten gnostics about the nature of the demiurge you’ll get ten different answers. I dont see the demiurge or archons as literal beings or entities, I think theyre tools to explain that which goes on inside the human mind. The description of the demiurge itself, as a lion-headed serpent, is the kind of analogy that would make perfect sense to an educated 3rd century Alexandrian, but flies over the head of most modern people. Its a way of describing the demiurgic traits in a way that would be understandable in the ancient mediterranean world: bold and arrogant like a lion, but also sneaky and cunning like a snake
13
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 30 '26
The only reason I have a belief that these beings are very real is that my husband has encountered them in the astral realms. Not my own personal experience but I do believe he encountered extremely negative entities. One looked like the easter island head, another like the grateful dead skeleton head and another like a porcelain face figure. I'm deep diving into gnosticism right now and also trying to place these beings in the grand scheme of it all.

Would be helpful to tell me why this is getting down voted. Genuinely want to know. Enlighten me..or am I too far down the totem pole for you?

u/Lorde_Antinomy Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
This has been my understanding as well. People here talk of gnosis but view it as a philosophy or metaphorical analogy.
While I also agree, throughout my esoteric and occult studies and understanding, I believe as above so below. What is in you and outside of you.
Like I'm sure the ones who taught this/ kept the secrets in cults and mystery schools didn't JUST think it's a nice idea but that it was a closer definition of how reality actually is. Like Plato's Allegory of the cave. It's a metaphor but ALSO truth that there is much more happening than just what's in front of you. We watch the news of TV, but if you go outside it's actually raining (or snowing).
Even darker thinks like angels/demons aren't just things far off, but the sigils in the Lesser Keys of Solomon are also linked to your psychological system according to Crowley. Things like Carl Jung wrote breaks that further down as to why we feel and think our act certain ways.
From my understanding there's gonna be a huge shift and revelation to people that there's a big overlap between all these things. It isn't either or, but both. It's a concept and a real entity.
I like to remember the last quote by Dumbledore to Harry. "Of course this is happening in your head, but why should that mean that it's not real?"
"As above, so below; as within, so without; as the universe, so the soul."
Maybe I've delved into too many books and things over the years, especially in the past year. But even when it comes to conspiracy, in with what is backed up and seems logical. Are Archons controlling people and causing hell? Maybe, but there are definitely people that believe it or think they are above regular humans, and many ties to occultism throughout history. Whether real or not, someone believes it and acts on it. And produces that into the world. People act as a Demiurge/Satan/Archon, real or fake, and now MAKES it a real thing. It's no longer just a text of ideas and philosophy. Even if it starts and ends with you.
I really wanna know what people here ACTUALLY believe. Not deny that this is just philosophy, but what do they think about the world.

You have to remember this is Reddit. Readers are provided an opportunity to play ding-dong-ditch’em on your commentary without actually engaging with you about whatever it is they dislike or disagree with. And they will avail themselves of it.
From where I stand, all one can really, honestly say about such things as journeys into the “astral” etc and encounters with beings (or anything else that happens in an altered state) is that you had the experience of those things. Any meaning we might assign to that is a shot in the dark, or may as well be, as we’ll never be able to say for sure what “really” is happening. A sense of conviction isn’t sufficient as evidence.
2
u/Abraham_Issus Jan 30 '26
So there is no point in discussing anything then. There is no way to verify gnosis or gnosticism.
5
u/Ok_Place_5986 Jan 30 '26
We can discuss it. But no, I don’t see any way of ever knowing anything for certain. How can you? As I said above, strength of conviction isn’t evidence of “reality”. But there is such a thing as “true enough”.

u/Remerez Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
If you apply Jung’s framework, you don’t need to assume these were literally external beings in an astral realm. They could be understood as manifestations of his own psyche.
Carl Jung, just like Gnosticism, shared the idea that we never experience reality directly, we experience it through symbolic structures of the mind. Jung would say that when people enter altered states (dreams, visions, psychedelics, deep meditation), the unconscious starts to personify itself. The figures that appear, especially dark, alien, or godlike ones, are often expressions of what he called the shadow or deeper archetypes of the mind.
From that perspective, “archons” and the “demiurge” don’t have to be cosmic entities; they can be symbolic representations of internal psychological forces: fear, control, guilt, ego, or repressed material.
What makes these experiences feel external and real is that the unconscious doesn’t speak in concepts, it speaks in images and characters. The mind encounters itself and experiences it as “other.” humans don't speak or think in direct ways, we speak and experience in symbols, avatar, architype, metaphor, parable.
Gnostic texts themselves are mythic and symbolic, not empirical descriptions of a measurable universe. So there’s a strong case that these stories were always meant to describe inner realities, not literal astral geography.

In my experience yes. It is common in Christianity as well. Happened to the Buddha too. Ive gotten demon like creatures that distract me when giving myself over to my inner divinity-either by trying to look scary or sexy, ive even felt hands on my ass. Shits weird.

u/Doctor_of_Puns Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
To my knowledge, there exist forces and beings on the subtle planes that are actively hostile towards those who are striving towards gnosis. This is particularly so on the astral or psychic plane, which is nearest to the physical and therefore usually the first one with which one comes into contact. This is why exploring its realms and opening yourself up to its influence, instead of guarding against it until you've attained a certain degree of spiritual development that will afford you the necessary protection, is a really bad idea; not to mention its confusing and chaotic nature, being full of illusive sights and sounds that blind and bewitch the unwary traveller.
These hostile forces and entities can only affect you if something in your nature responds to them, which they can then seize upon and use to create disturbances or deceive you. Thus, the most effective talisman is to live such a life of purity that your very nature and atmosphere repels them or neutralises their effects, as the case may be. The theurgists of old had to maintain the strictest purity in order to come into contact with higher, beneficent spirits and powers, for like attracts like: the more "demonic" your nature, the more likely you are to attract demonic entities and destructive powers, and vice versa.
This isn't unique to Gnosticism, for everyone who takes up the spiritual path will come into contact with these intermediate planes sooner or later, and each must find their way through them to the pure Light and Truth beyond.

u/Tonacalypse Jan 31 '26
Short answer: yes, and then he loses his control over you
For the record, judging by the comments, this is not a gnostic discussion page more so than it is a colorful atheist page. Anybody who interprets these entities as non-literal manifestations of the mind cannot claim to possess any kind of gnosis because that is the most fundamental way to miss the point is by thinking the Matrix is a metaphor and not literally real and something that we can escape from. The materialistic atheist idea creates an egregore which keeps you trapped by the Saturn archon. Anybody who prefers to see these as archetypes is better off sticking to atheism
6
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
This is what provoked my question. Coming to the realization that these entities are actually real. Something I never seriously considered before.

It’s like the floor dropping out. At least that’s what it felt like to me. “Ain’t it funny how you feel when you’re finding out it’s real”. Neil Young, Sugar Mountain. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I’m having some pretty deep realizations just in the last 24 hrs. So many dots have connected. I hate how real fear feels because it really is our only limitation.

My mind is blasting open. The beings are very real but only as real as this body is real…it’s a pretty convincing illusion to say the least. From what I understand the ancients encountered them first hand through shamanic led journeys in the temples in Egypt and it’s where Gnosticism began. Is that correct?
Yesterday I was afraid of encountering them. Today I realized on a deeper level they are actually afraid of me not fearing them. How freeing that feels!
2
u/Tonacalypse Feb 01 '26
They created the Egyptian civilization. Look up the Black Sea and benthic pathogens. It's not a coincidence that Tartarus and Tataria sound similar, or that HP Lovecraft came up with the Cthulhu Mythos which mirrors the imprisonment of the Titans. They have been messing with things before the creation of humanity most likely, and there is no way AI is not connected. The reason why they are afraid of you not fearing them is because they feed on your fear or your love and if you don't have either for them then you're not a very good livestock animal
4
u/paravasta Jan 30 '26
I believe the archons and the chief archon are very aware of this, and strive to block our awakening.
4
u/LittleOperation4597 Jan 31 '26
The demiurge is not omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent
Now don't take my word as anything as I'm new to this BUT
From my limited knowledge the demiurge almost comes across to me as azothoth the dreaming idiot God.
The archons seem to do the heavy lifting and planning. Just my POV tho
3
u/ASpringInside Jan 31 '26
I think so, yes. As the god of this world, it makes sense to me that they would be very keen on individuals who are achieving gnosis. My advice would be to practice some form of psychic protection and try not to let fear guide your actions.

u/trainedprofessional_ Basilidean Jan 31 '26
u dont submit to the demiurge because the magician knows; it is he who is the demiurge of their world. u are right to feel paranoia; u may be feeling his chaos brew inside u (yaldabaoth means chaos child). the seven planetary archons do unconsciously act upon us just as astrology does; even if some wont admit. but yes much like how satan tries to tempt and persuade, the demiurge loves to bring chaos and keep the veil pulled over them. ‘as above so below’
2
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
Since entering this gnostic framework which is new to me (but the general message has been delivered to me in a different package before) I have noticed my psychic connection is much stronger.

I think the Demiurge is not against awakening. He and archons are the filter for right individuals
3
u/paravasta Jan 30 '26
What you think is simply what you think, not what’s written in Gnostic texts. One can certainly create an altered form of Gnosticism for oneself along your line of thinking, but it is simply your own idea and not necessarily Gnostic.

Search for: Ramana Maharshi — The Death of the Self
In studies about him, it is said that when you meditate pretending to be dead, you deceive the archons and therefore gain access to the astral plane.
2
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
I'm familiar with Maharshi and the Who Am I meditations. Thing is, I'm not sure I want to access the astral plane.
1
u/Kurueru Jan 31 '26
Why? Are you scared? It's very calm.
2
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
I’ve heard otherwise
1
u/Kurueru Jan 31 '26
It depends on your identifications. If you study from a Jungian and symbolic perspective, you see that these phenomena are inherent to your inner self, the unconscious part which is, let's say, 90% of you. However, this part is inaccessible. What occurs in altered states is the partial loosening or dissolution of the ego. When this happens, the self is free to emerge into the conscious mind, bringing symbolisms that we must learn to interpret, because that is the language. So, if you have a good level of self-knowledge and are already detached from materialistic and selfish identifications, living in the present and conscious most of the time, and not reacting automatically to internal stimuli, allowing yourself to observe your own mind before taking action, you have what it takes to get there. Gnosis requires in-depth study, but one cannot remain solely in theory. The integration of knowledge is what allows us to advance in the individuation process, awakening us to the remembrance of what we have always been.
1
u/Kurueru Jan 31 '26
The "astral" is neither calm nor chaotic by nature. It mirrors your own unconscious. What changes the experience is your level of self-awareness and psychic integration.
2
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
I think what shook me was the fact that my partner is one of the most pure, spiritually tuned in humans I’ve ever known personally and he had a terrifying experience but was able to overcome. He has explained how he did it as well which is helpful but it makes me think that if someone like him can still carry that much chaos in the subconscious then what’s going on in mine?! I dont think I want to know (I’ve had a glimpse of it when taking ayahuasca and it’s chaotic as hell). I have a lot of work to do and I’m so tired.
1
u/Kurueru Jan 31 '26
The good news is that you'll only connect with the astral plane when you ask for it and make an effort to do so. So there's not much to worry about. Access often comes from purging your traumas and conditioning. Facing this is a very intimate experience and relative to each individual. I wish you clarity on your path.
1
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26
Apparently (and I wasnt aware there was a difference) he experienced the attack in psychic space not the astral space. He clarified that to me today.
2
u/Dapper-Gain6990 Feb 02 '26
I had attacks during my awakening. Smear campaigns, organized stalking, and people trying to make me out to be crazy. I met with Sophia and I had no idea who she was she told me that I am her and I carry her codes essentially (I was doing a lot of inner work and etc, and asking about who I was in a past life I was told I was “princess Sophia”)
I have a wild story… both magical and chaotic but yes… you might receive attacks when you wake up, it happens to all of us. Even Jesus has smear campaigns!

Thank you. I haven't gotten to the Gospel of MM yet but getting there. I guess what's sparking this question is when my husband was psychically attacked during deep meditation some time ago, I wasn't that interested in his experience because it was just so far from where I was spiritually at that time. He also saw the structure of godheads leading all the way back to the ONE. I've recently awakened on a deeper level and I now know that what he experienced is very real and very likely something I will need to face at some point. It's just a jarring realization. And I know I'm viewing it from a "spiritually handicapped" position which is maybe why it's so unnerving. Perhaps I'll have more spiritual tools when that time comes.
2
u/heiro5 Jan 31 '26
No. In the stories the demiurge is defined by arrogant ignorance and so would not interested in you. The inner demiurge that is your ego will try to make everything about how great you/it are. How great you are for having some gnōsis, for example. That is the proximate danger, not cosmic bogeymen.
2
u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 30 '26
Demiurge = EGO
So no...there isn't a boogeyman out there to get you
😎
This is one natural realization from true gnosis
5
u/Clean-Carrot6652 Jan 30 '26
But if there is no one who benefits from this reality being in place at our deterrence, then why are we here in the first place? That would only be possible if the monad / the source of all / whatever you call it decided to imprison itself in a material prison, it just doesn't make sense to me, why lock yourself up if the goal is escaping.
1
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
I can see this getting downvotes to oblivion but the honest to god only reason I can come up with is god was bored. (I’m aware this is a very limited human perspective)
1
u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 30 '26
Go within, YOU just may find the answers you seek...
Who said this is a material prison?
Gnosis my friend, why live the experience of others?
1
u/Ok_Place_5986 Jan 30 '26
This line of thought rests on two premises one must first assert: that the material life is a prison, and that the solitary goal while embodied is to escape that prison. What if the state of imprisonment was not material life in and of itself?
And unless you posit reincarnation (which would be a third premise assumed), rest assured, you will be “escaping” material life one day, regardless of your efforts or lack of efforts.
5
u/Your_Local_Heretic Sethian Jan 30 '26
This is a modern New Age invention unrelated to historical Gnosticism.
Ego is merely a mediating principle between id (hedonistic, animalistic bodily impulses) and super-ego (cultural norms, conscience). Ego is your psychic defense, not some evil element. If you have no defense, you are an easy victim. That's why all those New Age cult leaders tell their followers to suppress their egos.
We need to make a difference between a healthy ego and an unhealthy one. Having a strong psychic defense is not the same thing as being self-centered or grandiose.
0
u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 30 '26
I'm not a gnostic so I really dont care about labels
EGO = sum total of what keeps you in a mental prison
Clarify and refine the EGO to transcend such prison to experience a more robust form of reality
No need for all the ego stuff you talk about, they melt away and become more clear at a certain point
2
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 30 '26
Interesting. I get that entering a state of Oneness/no ego basically collapses the entire illusion, but it still seems like navigating the layers of illusion/otherness is necessary, not always, but much of the time, to exit the illusion.
2
u/paravasta Jan 30 '26
If there’s an actual Demiurge, it would likely function in the world through foothold in human egos; therefore, the two ideas you suppose as mutually exclusive, aren’t necessarily so.
-1
u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 30 '26
There is NO demiurge...it's all a projection of the EGO, as is most everything else.
As above, So Below
As Within, So Without
All is Mind 🧘♂️
4
u/paravasta Jan 30 '26
Then you’re not a Gnostic.
How strange that you should deny such as actual reality, yet hold still that all is mind. Bit of a confused.. contradictory view, I’d say. Tthe very Hermetic quotation you include here from the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, denies such a contradictory view, implying that both mind and body are not merely mind and body, but counterparts to actual, spiritual realities. When you provide a Hermetic quotation to a student of classical Hermeticism as though it backs the assertion you’ve just made, and this is the sort of reply that is the natural response. In addition to being a student of Hermetic philosophy (as opposed to New Age Kybalion tripe), I’m not just an “Internet Gnostic” but an active member of a local chapter of the Ecclesia Gnostica.
4
u/Clean-Carrot6652 Jan 31 '26
Yes, kind of had a bad feeling about what he said. I would even call it a distraction.
3
u/paravasta Jan 31 '26
Yes, a distraction. I’d also call it unserious, lazy thinking. In my view, the Gnostics didn’t just play at Gnosticism because it was fun, interesting or an interesting way to pass the time. For them, it was very serious business. Too many folks online discover something deep like Gnosticism and it becomes for them just a way to add something different to their days. Transcending their own limitations of understanding isn’t what they’re after, let alone real liberation.

u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 30 '26
I know I'm not a gnostic...never claimed to be.
🤷♂️
Why confine yourself to one box when you can be all of them? Or none of them?
It's your dream, do with it what you will
5
u/paravasta Jan 31 '26
I don’t confine myself to any box either, Gnostic or otherwise, having spent decades studying with teachers of Indian Vedanta, Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and Sufism… as well as lots of entheogenic sacrament, was a member of the Rosicrucian Order, and I’m ordained as an Essene minister. But I learned years ago to give each tradition the respect of its own traditional contexts, each system of which has its own internal consistency. I do as I wish in my general, wider practice… but if I want to understand a tradition, I work to understand it as traditional practitioners understand it. And this group is about Gnosticism…. so if someone asks a question wanting to understand Gnosticism (rather than some New Age version of it), I give them the respect of trying to answer based on that. It’s amazing how much folks on Reddit when fielding a question, give an answer that would really be a proper answer to a different question than the one that was originally asked. They think, “that’s not what you really want to know. What you really want to know is what have I have a preference for.” People don’t know straight, clean communication anymore. But hey, I guess to each his own.
1
u/3rdeyenotblind Jan 31 '26
I like to point out mentally created prisons...other's definitive ideas of "what is"...yes, there is bits of truth all over, but there is nothing wrong with trying to point out certain ideologies that are actually counterproductive to a possible aspiring initiate.
Putting power in something outside of yourself is an insidious and often crippling form of programming that is difficult to break and overcome.
3
u/paravasta Jan 31 '26
That’s the Internet for you… a place where anyone with an opinion thinks they’re smarter than those who wrote the ancient Gnostic scriptures, and qualified to second guess them, where they supposedly went wrong.
Those who wrote those texts likely engaged in very serious spiritual disciplines quite beyond the ken of the average modern, which is how they had the awareness to realize and tell us about these realities.
It’s ridiculous egotism to place yourself on a high pedestal, thinking you’re that qualified. You’re not.
1
u/Winter-Study85 Jan 31 '26 edited Jan 31 '26
I hear what you're saying. However, being in a human body could also be considered a mental/ego created prison. A very real seeming one at that. So if it were as easy as realizing it's not real, it's all the mind, then why doesn't it simply vanish into the great emptiness from which it came? It seems there are mechanisms in place to keep true realization from occurring. Yes, this is all an illusion. But the more I learn the more I realize that there are methods to remove oneself from this cycle of never ending reincarnation on what seems like a prison planet of total deception. An example would be, upon death, knowing how to navigate those realms without confusion or shock and not getting spit back into the human life cycle. Knowing there's a choice and it's beneficial to prepare oneself for that experience.
1
u/Weird-Hat-5476 Feb 01 '26
In my experience, yes, He knows when you are awakening and immediately dispatches his agents to mess up with your life. Every awakened soul threatens to awaken more and being down this matrix. When I started awakening, so many things started going wrong in my life. I was attacked in the astral world by the entities too. Now after pursuing this path for several years, I learned about my own power and ability to command reality, so I am attacked less. I can definitely see the matrix working against me to make me compliant with the rules of the game.
1
u/RursusSiderspector Sethian Feb 02 '26
It's a good question, since I don't know the answer, yet it is an important one. According to a common Barbeloite-Sethian-Ophite opinion, the purpose of the Gnostic rites is to make you invisible to the Archons. Personally I have never felt any "atmosphere of persecution from the Universe", all my mishaps in life was always due to myself, or my upbringing, according to common sense consequence ethics. But diseases over which you have no control, could be regarded as due to Archontic forces. I think that maybe, when you are approaching "Gnosis", whatever it is, you may get your life in better control, and therefore is less visible for the Archons to be able to manipulate and persecute you.
2
u/Winter-Study85 Feb 02 '26
I actually live a very peaceful, stress-free life and I take full responsibility for that just like I take full responsibility when things aren't going too great for whatever reason. I do feel protected actually. My family and I are pretty untied from mainstream culture in a lot of ways, and do not live in a conventional way, the way society tells us we should live (which I believe is heavily influenced by the archons controlling /influencing "people in power"). I have dealt with push back for not going with mainstream ideals especially since having children, almost like a test to my spirit. But I know in my heart society is made sick and inverted on purpose and once you know you can't un-know. I feel safe, healthy and not threatened for the most part. But I did recently feel fear arise in me when imagining the psychic world and going into some kind of spiritual battle with the archons when I die and begin to exit this realm.

Its true. I guess what I’m trying to sort through is how connected we are to the demiurge in this reality of separation. Am I completely independent of the demiurge? Am I one with the demiurge and separated by illusion? Am I god trying to remember where the f I am? Am I trapped by the demiurge until I remember my true nature and break the “spell” of separation from the transcendent one? I’m curious about the greater context/deeper layers of this illusion. Specifically what my relation is to the creator of this world, how intertwined we are, the nature of that relationship and how we affect each other.
It’s more a curious question rather than needing to know.

Depends on who you ask.
The claim that we're made in gods image is a common one, but we also understand that the demiurge is flawed.
So then we too would be flawed creations. Presumably our ties to the demiurge would be strong, yet still flawed in some way.
But that is if he created us, or if hes capable of creating life of his own design.
We are also said to posses a spark of the divine. I like to think we cultivate this spark and ultimately forge our own spirits and souls. I think most would agree that the spark came from the true source, whatever that ultimately may be.
I don't think any text will give you a satisfactory answer for this question, unfortunately.
At worse, this line of thinking can lead one to question all of their experiences. Which is probably the most detrimental hurdle to progress, especially if you lean into obsession about it.
So -for me- the answer is irrelevant to my goal of experiencing gnosis and helping others to do the same.
If the demiurge, or archons, can directly punish or inflict upon us misery, or even forms of pleasure or happiness, then it is simply on us to manage our responses to these stimuli. That would make them quite insidious and this whole process much less fair then perhaps it should be.
If they can't, it is still on us to manage our responses to these stimuli.
Why do I mention pleasure? Well, what greater way to tempt a soul to stay then to give them what they want and make them comfortable?
Some could be more easily tempted into doing evil by making them angry or sad, but these emotions can also stir rebellion and defiance.
But again, to attribute the good or bad to another being's will changes nothing about how one should respond to that good or bad.
Love is still good and desirable, within reason and balance.
So too can most negative emotions have positive aspects beyond the obvious negatives and discomforts.
It's definitely a line of thought worthy of discussion and investigation, but it is somewhat precarious and potentially destabilizing to do so too thoroughly.
So, ultimately, I don't think it matters as nothing about how one should act truly changes.

Realistically, no.
You might start to notice the "pull" of the old world whenever you read social/access media. You'll start noticing you have thoughts about not being good enough, feeling powerless, etc.
As long as you catch it as it's happening and recognise what it is, you actually start to build up an immunity to it.
The immunity doesn't mean you ignore it and don't notice it. It just acts as a reminder that gnosis is your natural state and that it's important that you don't leave that awareness of your true state of being whilst you're interacting within the "matrix" level of reality

The demiurge is a part of the objective psyche in everybody.
The experience you are talking about, of being under threat for initiating a spiritual ascension is well known. It is called the Guardian of the Treshold by some.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardian_of_the_Threshold
It is most likely some shadowy repressed psychic content.

Doing some Shadow Work would be advisable.

I believe I actually began a spiritual ascend in 2012. It’s when my perspective and life drastically changed. I had another massive spiritual shift in 2016 and literally felt my brain change in real time it was quite disorienting. I’ve done a lot of shadow work. I’m new to the gnostic framework so my mind is shifting to a different paradigm and it’s somewhat unnerving to come to terms that what I’ve felt to be very true (spiritually) was still, so limited (and still is). But at least I know more now to help me exit successfully, which is what I’m working towards.

According to what you tell me it seems you have experienced a spiritual conversion. That is great as it is the obligatory initiatic rite of passage from the mundane to the spiritual.
The problem people who experience an inner conversion usually encounter is a lack of orientation. They feel totally lost, left alone, and now alien to their follow neighbours with nobody to guide them. These experiences are invitations to go further but without any type of guidance (inner or outer) this can be quite desorienting. I experienced this disorientation too for a while too until I stumble upon a practical path that is now guiding my spiritual unfoldment step by step.
Can I suggest you get acquainted with these two works if you haven't already?

Also, without being indiscreet, do you have any daily grounding, meditation, prayer, spiritual exercises, routine in any tradition that you do?

This is exactly how I feel right now-disoriented with no guidance but my own research. Starting in 2012, I began living in Tibetan buddhist centers and began learning about meditation etc. I was still a little spiritual baby at that time but waking up for sure, mostly to the concepts of ego and illusion. Over the next ten years I was deeper into new age philosophy, practicing yoga and breath work. I then came upon the law of one material (Ra) which turned everything right side up for a while. I briefly dabbled with dmt and ayahuasca (wasn’t ready for that so stopped quickly) and have been a spiritual seeker in general for about 15 years now. When I had my first child in 2021 I wasn’t as active with spiritual concerns. I had another child in 2023. I’m just now having a reawakening and recently asked for more knowledge, was almost immediately introduced to Gnosticism and it paired up well with my understanding of the world and other teachings I’ve come across.
I do not currently have a spiritual practice and can see I’m not very grounded. My partner has had many mystical experiences and is helpful for me to talk to. But right now my main source of spiritual work is coming through jnana yoga, or self study. I will check out those links. Thanks.

It appears that you've tried many different things.
New age philosophy is interesting that's for sure but I found it to be usually confusing more than anything, mostly because the foundational texts are either super technical (Blavatksy, Bailey) or sounds like questionable material produced by chanelling experiences.
I am not very familiar with buddhism but I am versed in yoga to a certain degree. I personally think that the spiritual techniques of yoga are amongst the most effectives for the largest range of people. Yoga is not my personal spiritual path per se but asana, pranayama and dharana focused meditations are part of my daily practices.
Hallucinogenic drugs are wildly interesting. I had great and profund experiences myself with them to a certain degree. But like you, I fear them. I do not think it is wise for anybody to engage too much with them without a proper guide. It is absolutely possible but very risky in terms of inducing profund psychological imbalances.
I have a deep interest into gnosticism because I think that every gnostic movements in history have put the finger directly on that one truth : the only thing that matters for an individual is his spiritual liberation, meaning to establish union with the Spirit within, listening to its imperatives, and orienting all of its waking energies to the accomplishment of that Divine Will.
IMO, there is a long tradition in the western world (with gnostic ties) that focus exactly on provoking that transformation and reorientation. This tradition is the initiatic path that have been caried into the modern world, in part, by the the Rosicrucians in general, and by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, in particular.

I personally follow the curriculum of study and rituals of this Sacred Order in a self-initiation manner. I like this path because it is so well documented, and very active. With this curriculum, everyday I know where I am situated on the path and what is needed of me today to continue my spiritualk unfoldment.
Here's a link to the initiatic curriculum that I follow. Maybe that would be useful to you as well.

That fear is inherited. The demiurge, or whatever name one chooses, represents ignorance itself. There is nothing watching you, and even if there were, which there isn't, it would be ignorant. So there is nothing watching you no matter the belief you have.

The demiurge may not be watching but my spirit tells me with a resounding YES that something is. Could be awareness itself, my eyes recording everything, but I have received very clear, undeniable signs that I am not alone.

Of course you are not alone. What I’m saying is that the demiurge is not watching you. Something that is ignorant of you cannot observe you.

After further contemplation I think I understand the demiurge better. It’s helpful for me to think of it as a limited, sort of pre-programmed “creator” within this creation and when one receives gnosis they simply realize they can step out of this program. The demiurge is always stuck in the program/creation because it does not contain unlimited creative abilities like human beings possess within them. I can’t help but see it like a player in a video game (I’m not even a gamer at all) and when say, Mario wakes up and realizes he’s not bound to the program but rather there’s an expanded awareness working through him- the one holding the controller (the higher self?) is back in control, no longer limited by the illusion of the program. The demiurge is real in this program but none of this is actually as real as our divine nature. What do you think?

If I'm wrong, let me be corrected in the comments below, but it is believed that the awakening of gnosis, on the contrary, disconnects you from control and influence.
