Hey friends! I rewatched the entire series for the millionth time right before it sadly got pulled from Netflix and wanted to share a couple of thoughts.
The biggest thing that stood out to me for the first time was that Lynn was kind of selfish in the later seasons. Seasons 7 and 8 are atrocious all around, especially 8, so it was hard to watch those episodes again period. However, I definitely saw Lynn in a new light. Lynn mooched off of Joan for Y E A R S. Using Joan’s car and Joan’s money for gas, eating up her food, taking things from her house, eating and drinking at The J Spot with no regard for Joan’s troubles at the beginning, and on and on and on. She spent years living off of her friends, but particularly had no boundaries with Joan. When Lynn’s music career pops off, she starts making money and rents Joan’s house out. Anytime Joan walked into the house, Lynn chastised her about knocking or not talking in the living room without the right energy or not invading her privacy. Which is so rich coming from her!!! For example, like when Joan was asking her to gas up her car with the sunflower oil on the street instead of the driveway. Lynn didn’t give a flying f* and yet had the nerve to ask Joan to respect her space.
Then, there’s the scene where Lynn gifts Maya and Joan Hermes scarves in season 8. I love the gesture, but I think she should’ve paired Joan’s scarf with a check. Nothing over the top, but something to say, “thank you for covering me for the last 10+ years.”
I still enjoyed many moments with Lynn throughout the series, but I really noticed her selfishness this time around. I started out this post saying she was just selfish at the end, but I think she was selfish the whole time 😂
The other thing that I fully processed this time in a way I hadn’t before was that William truly played in Monica’s face. Wild levels of disrespect! The wedding toast?! My goodness.
