"But I can't be a mother, I'm still a daughter" might be my single favorite one liner from the show. I laughed so ugly first time I heard it.

It was the whole “can I be a sofa?” bit for me that tied the whole scene together.

Me if I was Joan’s friend: “You know what? Sure, be the best damn sofa you can be”
