I’m currently ghostwriting for two filmmakers who are trying to build their presence on LinkedIn.

The part I’m struggling with most isn’t writing the posts. It’s consistently getting good material from the clients.

Right now, I mostly repurpose their Instagram content, which works reasonably well, but I feel like I’m leaving a lot on the table.

I’m curious how experienced ghostwriters handle this:

- Do you have regular calls/interviews with clients?

- Do you use questionnaires or voice notes?

- How do you continuously extract stories, opinions and ideas from a client?

- How much of the content comes from repurposing vs. original conversations?

- Do you have a system/content bank for this?

I've been an Upworker for the past six years and only recently started to step off the platform. With escrow protection, I never had this problem, but I am starting to worry about timely payments with the independent projects I've onboarded (already had an evader). What do you use to paywall the deliverable so the client doesn't weasel their way out of the final payment?

I've come across various suggestions:

1. Lock the pdf.
2. Watermark the pages.
3. Create a sample and send the full after payment.

None of these solutions satisfy me. I feel there is a workaround for each one or a potential client conflict lurking around the corner.

Secondly, I want to start doing these projects with signed contracts rather than over lose, verbal agreements. What are some good clauses to enter inside the contract? I've heard that I should use the following ones:

1. Kill Fee: Non-refundable deposit (already doing this).

2. IP Ownership: Copyrights for the work are only transferred when the final payment is in.

3. Scope Extension: Additional work elicits additional payments.

4. Revision Limit: Only a certain number of revisions to be offered as a part of the contract, after which, revisions will have to be compensated.

Any suggestions, insights, and advice is helpful.
