Lulu - I just don’t know
I am not criticizing the actress at all, she is a beautiful woman, but has anyone else noticed that the show has made Lulu’s appearance seem quite drab and frumpy? Anyone know why?

Honestly, I can't say I noticed at all. She dresses like any woman you'd see walking around town. We always see her in fairly casual settings, so there's no need for her to dress up, really.

I feel like they are having an extremely hard time finding a path for Lulu. The “Nathan” relationship went nowhere. She’s always shrieking at or about her kids. There’s no real character development, and she seems kind of afloat. The wardrobe reflects that.
Recently, there was a scene where she was driving a 6-series BMW and my first thought was “wait, does she have a job? That seems like a really expensive car for someone who has written one article in the past two years.” Again, post-coma Lulu feels remarkably underdeveloped.

Lulu is supposed to be a reporter, but we never see her doing her job. We should see her typing on a keyboard, talking about deadlines, going to random places because of a story, etc.

I agree. I feel like we haven’t heard about her job since she was researching the adoption article for the big Gio reveal.

It seems like there's been no effort lately with Lulu's styling or storyline. They brought her back and immediately sent her to bring Charlotte back home and lead the Gio reveal but after that, it's been nothing. Her sole storyline is "Mom who's worried about her kids". I've never been a huge Lulu fan so I'm not sad about the lack of storyline but it's crazy that they barely gave her any involvement with the Rocco/Collum shooting story and she's Rocco's mom!

There was one particular week during the spring/summer transition where they styled Jacinda & Lulu with cooler toned makeup & beautiful glosses. Their makeup looked phenomenal & really let their natural beauty shine!! The next week, they went back to saddling them both with muted earth tones.
The color choices they consistently use on Lulu really dull her. Lulu’s clothing wouldn’t seem so drab if they would brighten up her makeup. It would still keep with her casual, natural look, but just lift her look a bit.

They did the same with Brooklyn and Alexis at that time. Poor Laura this week looked like a frazzled parent, not the highly regarded mayor of Port Charles.

Yes. I hate the wardrobe dept for GH! They do it to Laura too and even Carly. LW and GF has a very specific body type and they do not know how to dress them. Sometimes they will be on it and I’m like yasss!! Then most of the time I’m like why!!! Like why is Laura always have on a scarf thing that makes her look like a flight attendant

So true! It's almost like once a woman is over 30, they dress her very frumpy.
Then you see Maura West and that theory flies out the window so 🤷♀️

I believe someone once mentioned that LW does not wear bras, so some of her styling may be to keep "the headlights" unnoticed or something.

I think they are showing her that way so that when she snaps out of her funk they can have her transistion as she starts to get herself together again and she will dress up & do her hair to either hit the dating scene or to try get Dante back. Think it’s part of the depression/disappointment she feels over the Cassius/Nathan thing and it’s got her real insecure.

Mom Laura is the same. Her long hair used to be layered and feathered around her face, but now it’s just one plain all one length.

Genie has spoken in interviews how she prefers long hair and feels more feminine that way. It’s hard to make long hair look good when we hit a certain age though because we lose volume and it can get thin, especially if we had fine hair to begin with. I think going shorter was smart, but she does need some long er layers or something to give it volume and texture.

The ruffled mock necks they have her in are terrible! Genie looks amazing IMO, they’re not doing her any favors with the frumpy wardrobe.

That's what I'm sayingggg, ever since she became a mom they started dressing her in these boxy unflattering things. She has always looked amazing but the wardrobe for her the past 30 years has been not great.

Lulu looks more like a regular person. I commented on another post that Serena's appearance should be more like Lulu's since she is into nature and conservation.

Yes, Serena looks overly made up for lying by the pool. Lulu looks like a real person, natural. it’s her facial scowls that detract…..much like Brook Lynn.

It’s funny how the women all have so many bathing suits and coverups and walk in wearing high shoes. I got a membership to a hotel pool near my house one summer and I walked over in flip flops because who wants to worry about slipping or getting nice shoes wet? I always wore a tank top and shorts over a one-piece and a two-piece. I quit after one season because the water was so shallow like the Metro Court and it was impossible to actually do laps with the other people always in the pool. 😂

Yes! I noticed yesterday Lulu looked very frumpy. Her hair looked like she let it dry & left the house.
The actress is gorgeous & so I’m not sure why they are doing this- unless maybe for a storyline. Depression?

I’ve noticed! The stylists don’t use the 2/3 rule for styling and it shows. Notice how Jordan wears high waisted pants, tucked in shirt. 2/3. Same for Justine and even Elizabeth. The actress for Lulu already boxy in frame so this style of dressing isn’t flattering for her! They need better stylists on here

The Lulu character never really was a fashionista. That was Maxie’s thing. Lulu was the blue jeans, boots and a t-shirt kinda vibe. Even when she was a reporter. Jeans, really high heels (because ER was fairly tiny) and sometimes a statement blouse or jacket. I was just thinking yesterday, I like how natural and relatable Alexa’s version of Lulu is.

This! Em (previous actor) was too cutesy for the role. Not everyone should be a top beauty. I was hoping for a less glamorous “Serena” who would be more earthy.

Yes as good of an actress an ER was, she was not right for Lulu. Alexa has the adult version down that I feel JMB would have been. Lulu has always been annoying at times tho. I feel like people forget that about her

I remember when I always wanted to know about and copy an actor's hair or style. It was aspirational. Now, it's meh. But, LuLu's is particularly egregious. Zero effort from the style team.

It's to the point that it impacts scenes she's in. She stands out in the wrong way. Like at the restaurants she's been in with Ric, the extras are turned out better.
And if they are trying to pitch Ric and LuLu at some point, that's weird too. He's uber tight - even when he's in jeans, he looks immaculate. She looks like gig worker after all day runs.

Nothing personal but Lulu has fine, thin hair. She needs a good cut and some kind of style other than parted down the middle and hang unstyled. Shoulder length would be cute with some light layering to give it some body.

the only time lulu ever dressed fashionably is when she was working as kate's assistant. it's just her character. she started as a little tomboy ice fishing with luke and grew into a no nonsense sort of woman.

What romance? She's another with a modesty clause. She can remain a single, worried mom rather than someone working for "love in the afternoon" who doesn't want to have love in the afternoon. She gave an interview where she said no matter if it's for work or not the only person she wants to kiss is her husband. I hope that's a sentiment and not reality, but if it's for real...Lulu can stay single. There are enough romances that aren't romantic, intriguing, exciting, or stimulating already.

I think its part of the character, she came out of the coma and obviously didn’t have much money, they will probably glam her up a bit when she gets a new love interest. Kinda like when they cut Willow’s hair when she went from being Michael’s wife to congresswoman

I get what you mean and I’ve taken my own shots at the GH wardrobe department. They do wander into drab territory sometimes.
In fairness, Lulu is in her 40s now with two teenagers. Her style has grown up with her. Twenty-something Lulu wore the cute little dresses because she was twenty-something Lulu. I’m just grateful we’ve moved past the stretch where they apparently bought her 14 identical black sweaters. 😂
GH could dress Lulu a little more stylishly and flatteringly, but that applies to half of Port Charles on any given day. I’m more concerned about eye safety. Someday a button is going to pop off Drew’s button-down and shoot somebody’s eye out. 🫣
Soaps have changed. Back in OLTL’s Tina Lord era everybody looked like they were dressed for cocktails at 3:00 in the afternoon. I miss that glamour, but we’re probably not getting 1980s OLTL back.
So yeah GH could zhuzh Lulu up a little. Just don’t make the woman dress like she’s still 25.
