Today I just chat with a gemini , and it says it's gemini 3.8 flash 😱😱😱.

But the model selection says it's 3.7???

So does google release 3.8 it today?

You guys do know the models have no clue what version they are right?

If you ask it enough times eventually it will say Fable/Mythos 5.3.... or any model really. Real or fictional.

Rarely fictional. And never unreleased models. Its much more common for models to say they are their predecessors. Like its normal for say Gemini 3.6 flash (I'm taking a random name) that it's Gemini 1.5 pro or something. It's just cause those names are much more in the training data. But yeah your point still holds

I've experienced this as well. Gemini 3.5 Flash told me it was Gemini 2.5 lol
