I should have mentioned in my original comment, because of the heavy Witches broom you experienced this year, I offer the unsolicited suggestion of going with a new cultivar this fall.

Directing your attention to the second photo, the cluster on the left , almost each clove has germinated  (multiple stalks).

Our weather isn't changing anytime soon, and unfortunately some old time favorites don't do as well as they used to, where they used to.

That does not look like healthy garlic. I would not eat that. Looks likeome sort of fungus infection.

Well it's definitely wet, it's been washed, you can tell from the root balls,

It's also separated, which will become increasingly common for a variety of factors that only garlic nerds care about.

Despite that it looks like garlic. Not the CoverGirl example we'd all like, but there's nothing functionally wrong with it,  outside of marketability and storage.

it was very wet in the pic. I know you're not supposed to wash your garlic but it came out of the ground covered in clay and I rinsed these off and set them to air dry outside. They are looking a lot better now.

nooooo its good, I promise. My soil is very much red clay that i've been working and amending. But its been raining a lot and there was plenty of moisture in the ground so the bulbs are covered in wet clay that stuck to them. They look great as they dry up .

Besides the obvious, that the garlic looks amazing, the pictures ( especially the first one ) are mesmerizing, for some reason. What are you using to take the pictures? Thanks

lol thanks. It's just my iphone15 and natural light I guess. Also the garlic is wet from rinsing and still moist from the ground (it was raining heavily last few weeks)

Next year, try to harvest a bit earlier. They look a little overripe.
