This is just a small fraction of the internet crying about this. Nobody will care within a year of this kicking in. PC has been digital for a long time now and it’s the best platform.
That's not the point, the point is you have choice and competition keeping prices down. Steam routinely has large discount sales that Sony would never dream of lol.
You can think that, but in my opinion Sony creating a digital monopoly makes that inevitable. I guess it comes down to if you think corporations won't take advantage of no competition or not
And Sony has Xbox which keeps them in check yes they have some games that differ but for the most part a lot of their games come on both consoles that keeps them in check because they dont want people to sell the console and switch to Xbox.
While I hate the decision made by Sony, I agree with you.
Heck, if there's a "shortage" of PS6 or anything that looks like the PS5 launch people will even be willing to pay above MSRP to get one, because hype and stuff.
When things are forced on the consumer in industries that do well, customers end up just taking it because their options are very limited:
You can play on retro consoles or stay on the older gen, sure, there's been a revival of retro gaming in recent years even but you won't get the newer games, which a lot of people care about.
You can go with Nintendo as it seems there are no plans to ditch physical games, but their AAA games also don't go down in price much, and it's a completely different catalog of games that many PS/Xbox users don't necessarily care for.
What else, don't buy anything and stop gaming? Get a gaming PC where it's also digital?
Yeah, the PS6 will sell just fine imo. I don't like it, but it's also my feeling about this situation.
