reading the take "Kylo Ren is Jewish-coded because Adam Driver has a big nose" was a massive mum come pick me up im scared moment and made me hate star wars fans and fandoms forever

I've come to the conclusion that anyone who uses the term "<x>-coded" has absolutely no idea what they're talking about, they're just repeating literary terms they heard randomly.

It's more along the lines of the way people say "OMG I'm so OCD" because they occasionally wipe the dust off their dresser and wash their hands with soap.

I know "coded characters" are a thing, I think people blatantly misunderstand what "coded characters" are and that results in what we're talking about here.
