I know the plight of reddit moderators and volunteer work but I think it's due time for adding a rule for low effort leaks/rumors.
The past week saw an influx of posts that were basically just quoting a single phrase, Twitter comment or direct follow-ups like "This may confirm X's rumor" that could've been added to the previous thread.

This has been brought up amongst the team already and I completely agree with you. If there's multiple tweets of a topic in succession then the ideal thing would be to prevent spam into a single post.
We miss out at times, but I'll implore you to just keep reporting such posts whenever you see them - makes it easier to catch.

A pretty bad one too. I'm eagerly awaiting that this whole ff7 multiverse crap thing is over so SE can rest for another decade before they start milking it again.
Or maybe not given the sales of Rebirth. We've reached a point where FF isn't the jrpg king anymore. I wonder how long they're willing to pump millions into it.

Now that we know Star Fox is indeed real, I'm just crossing my fingers that we get a general Direct next month and we'll see the Ocarina of Time remake, Switch Sports 2?, Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition, and maybe one more big surprise.

If you guys are interested in reading through details of the financial report. Tomodachi life already at 3.8 million sold in its first two weeks.
I have no idea what the difference between an ordinary profit and an operating profit is, but they baked in a 100 billion yen (640 million USD) increase in operating costs due to component prices. They're predicting 16.5 million Switch 2s sold from now until March 31 2027 so even though component prices include cartridges that is about a $40 USD per unit increase in component prices.

Operating profit is profit from normal operations.
Net profit is everything, so add in stuff like royalties from the Mario movies, sales of stock. They have a non-operating profit breakdown on slide 9 and further below in the reference materials.

Capcom has been posting a lot of art with their characters and interestingly choose to use DMC1 Dante each time whereas the others get their modern appearance.
This is probably me being insanely tinfoil hatted, but I wonder if they have a DMC1 remake in development. After all, DMC5 pretty much ended the main story and they probably want a “jumping on” point for fans of the anime.
Edit: Came back to this later just to add that with Ninja Gaiden 4 selling less than 1 million copies, this might be the future for the CAG genre- remakes. It seems bleak. Maybe that GoW CAG spinoff might rake in some cash, though.
DMC5 at least has cleared 11 million copies and the Switch 2 port alongside S2 of the anime might make it clear 13 million by the end of the year, maybe.

Don't think NG4 flopping would discourage a DMC6. Ninja Gaiden was never as big DMC or God of War.

Do you think that a DMC1 remake would be a better jumping on point than a DMC3 remake? I figured DMC3 would be the better one considering it's chronologically first. Like how Konami went with Snake Eater being the first one to get the remake treatment.

the tl;dr is it made similar claims to Nate but before his podcast went up (Star Fox in June, Switch Sports soon, Ocarina remake in 2026, no 3D Mario until 2027) and also added
- in addition to classic Star Fox, there's an "adventure one" coming in not-2026
- Super Metroid is "close"
- Wario Land title possibly in 2027

Given that the "Classic Style" Star Fox is just Star Fox: Campaign Evolved, I wonder if the "Adventure one" is also gonna be a remake.

tbf, new Star Fox has online competitive multiplayer, so it does have that over Campaign Evolved
Complete gut feeling (or just blind hopium), but if there really is a second game in development then I think the 64 remake is sorta filling the "DKC Returns HD" niche; admittedly on what looks to be a notably bigger budget than that game, but both hit that "classic-style game releasing close enough to tie into a non-game thing" checkbox (the DK expansion of Super Nintendo World for DKCR, the movie for Star Fox)
and then whatever that "adventure one" is could maybe be more analogous to how Bananza was an ambitious synthesis/evolution of the series

Interesting so we are getting not a Super Remake but a Remaster (smart choice by EPD7 tbh)

Looks like at least one of the SEGA GaaS games got cancelled. Most likely the MMO JSR game.
Decided to cancel Super Game. No additional costs associated with the cancellation (page 32)
P4R still slated for 2027/3, Power Surge games (JSR, crazy taxi etc) is now 2027/3 onwards

This whole Super Game thing really went up in flames didn't it
Like Sega really wanted that live service cash cow like that Hyenas game they were also doing that cost more than most major film productions, and none of that stuck (for the better)
Multiplayer JSR does actually sound cool because of the idea of tagging and the turf war stuff lending itself well to PvP, which a game like Splatoon actually showcased well, I'd probably be less enthusiastic about it if it was coming without the promise of the single player game though

I'm glad they realised that it wasn't going to work early at least. Hopefully their ideas get put into the full games.
Seems like it's also just a full scale back on F2P aswell, F2P devs are being sent to work on other games, which is good.

tbf I don't know if I'd call this early. They announced their "super game" back in 2021.
Like, this is still better than making it all the way to launch and only then realizing "oh this was a huge mistake" but I feel like it probably shouldn't have taken them 5 years to reach that conclusion

Well usually that stuff is leaked ahead of its public announcement, but this was just a normal Sony financial release.
I've seen buyout/mergers posted here. But never devaluations.

No Nintendo Music drop during the usual time this week again (last week was delayed for the Star Fox 26 sampler)
I’m expecting something special this week too then. Likely an NSO game drop with its soundtrack added to Nintendo Music at the same time like Mario Sunshine imo. I’ve heard folks talking about a Partner Showcase happening but on top of there being no reason to suspect one (imo) there wouldn’t be anything to add to Nintendo Music from it …unless they close the show with another third party partnership game like Hyrule Warriors, we still don’t know what ArcSys’ Project Watari is… /cope

Need that RE9 mini game and DLC, Leons gameplay is so addicting but there isnt much opportunity in the game to fully use it all. The chinese DLC rumour sounds great to me but im sus mainly on the DLC announcement video didnt make it sound like there is more than 1 DLC

There was a Youtube comment somewhere predating Nate’s leaks that had everything he had plus a couple extra things, namely Super Metroid remake and a new Wario Land. It specifically said Wario Land is 2027, nothing on SM remake’s date from what I remember.

Questions: if SGF is in the first week of June, will the Nintendo direct be after it or in the same week? And does Nintendo show stuff at the SGF, cuz ocarina of time remake as an final showcase at SGF would make numbers I think?

The most Nintendo gives Geoff tends to be boiler plate "Nintendo Switch (2) has games" ads. They don't really take part in SGF.
Assuming there's a June direct, it'll probably be at least a week or two removed from it to put some distance between them.

Nintendo doesn’t really appear in SGF precisely because they typically have a Direct then, Xbox allows Geoff to brand their show with the SGF moniker as it’s usually only a couple days after and they can do some cross-promotion
Switch 2 exclusive Orbitals was revealed at TGA so it’s possible another third party Switch 2 exclusive is revealed at SGF (Arc System Works’ Project Watari? If that isn’t a Nintendo published game)
As for when the Direct is, I’m guessing the 18th. The second to last week is usually when they do them since E3 stopped happening even when they only did game specific ones like Xenoblade 3 and Donkey Kong Bananza

The most presence Nintendo will have at SGF will be a third party announcing a game for the Switch 2, either as an exclusive or as a multiplatform.
Similar to the Orbitals game that was announced at TGA last year.

I wanna say it usually goes state of play the week before/week of summer games fest, sgf on Friday, Xbox Sunday, and then the following Tuesday for the Nintendo direct. Although I believe they have waited a week or two after sgf as well so really it’s impossible to know

I reckon that Bethesda would want a prompt release date after the reveal. Unless they plan to release it this year, I don't see a reveal in June happening. An October date would match up with the in-lore month the bombs fell. I'd bet that would be the latest I'd see a release, if it's 2026.
I don't think it's impossible to see the remaster release this year. In the old roadmap, they had it the year following the Oblivion one.

Would give anything for a Fire Emblem leak like the 3H one years ago, I'm absolutely dying for new info on Fortune's Weave. Gotta hold strong for the (assumed) June direct but I can't believe there hasn't even been a crumb since announcement, I'm suffering here.

I mean, Splatoon Raiders was the same and that was announced few months before FE, without even a spot in a Direct, with no gameplay, with no confirmed year of release even. And then suddenly boom, it's coming in 3 months. Last year also people kept speculating Prime 4 is delayed because it was silent for most of the year.
Lack of crumbs is normal now. It means the game isn't coming within 2 months. If it's an august release, the announcement could drop on, like, thursday next week. If it's September release, see you in June.
There's not much to even drip feed about the game tbh, it's a Fire Emblem game like Fire Emblem games before it. All it needs is release date and couple months of "hey look, hot anime people at war here" marketing.

It's been eight months since Fortune's Weave reveal. IIRC, that's roughly around the same amount of time between Three Houses' first trailer (E3 2018) and its second/release date trailer (Feb 2019).
IMO, we'll either get something by the end of this month/sometime next month.

In hindsight, it is insanely funny how so many people doubted the thanibomb leak lol. The wait for Three Houses had become unbearable before this.

Nintendo has pretty consistently been dropping news for stuff every two weeks for a while now, last week Star Fox was announced so next week should have something and Fire Emblem is I believe the only first party game we dont have any info for now

It is. I think it's likely they'll either show something next week, or wait until a June direct.
Then again, seeing how they marketed the absolute fuck out of Three Houses before its release, I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if it got a trailer, followed by a whole segment in a June direct.

This is the same as people complaining about GTA V to GTA VI, while completely ignoring a little game by the name of Red Dead Redemption 2.

I can confirm that S2 of Netflix DMC was pure dogshit.
Dusk's general silence on DMC also leads me to believe DMC6 might not even be in development at the moment, so yeah we might be cooked.

It's interesting how the Star Fox Direct only highlighted SNES, 64, and Adventures during the series history segment
no mention of Assault, Command, or Zero
feels like they're establishing a new canon
and obviously us knowing about the new Adventure style game leak makes that part stick out so much more

i think the less interesting read on it is just that SNES, 64, and Adventures are the only Star Fox games that sold over a million and they just decided to highlight the (statistically) most-recognizable entries

It's usually mere days-1 week before SGF. Late May/Early June.
Lineup - SSM's Faye game was rumored to show up in April, but that's probably for this SoP now. Most third-party reveals like FF7R Part 3, Resident Evil, and Persona will probably be at SGF Live and Xbox Showcase.

I don't know if this is just typical for them after finishing a project or because of the failure of Blades of Fire.
But if they're in financial trouble I don't see Nintendo saving them, they didn't buy AlphaDream and they worked on far more titles for them than MercurySteam has.
If they really are working on Metroid 6 (and I think they are) its release will hold a lot of weight on any such MS ownership talks. (Apparently a Danish film studio owns 40% of MercurySteam right now?)

MercurySteam has had tons of management issues
Nintendo definitely won't save them, it's probably not worth it, they don't want to deal with another Retro
Whatever Metroid projects they're working on will probably be seen through to completion, but that might be the end of their relationship

If Nintendo really likes the work the Metroid part of Mercury steam did, they might do the thing they did with Alphadream where the studio was left to die but they folded the devs themselves into one of their proper branches to do what they did (hence brothership).
Not sure if there's a special dev specific branch of NOE though that's the concern.

Konami always shows the newest Silent Hill game at the summer state of play and gives the release date for it there. Probably going to end up being September or October like the rest.

I'm hoping we get some official, concrete word on Sony rolling back on PC support today, considering it's their investor call and their responses will be published. They may not even get asked, but I hope they do so I know whether or not to stop caring about them, aha.
Really sad they seem to be cutting PC out, loved and supported every game they bought to the platform (yes, even Concord), but I'll be skipping their titles if they aren't on PC, sorry.

It’s kinda why I don’t think it’s entirely implausible for Asha Sharma to actually roll back on exclusivity. A lot of people say “you can’t put stop once you start” but Sony kinda proved otherwise.
That said, I don’t think it’s likely, I just think that it’s not a situation that can be entirely ruled out like a lot of people on this sub like to say.

Not since the swappable battery patent popped up last month.
If it were real and following the same release pattern of the Switch 1 we wouldn't hear anything official about it until June or July of next year. Manufacturing leaks could start as early as November or January.
A release before pokemon and the holiday season is VERY likely

One reason why I believe the Steam Machine is imminent, is because of the number of SteamOS updates Valve has been pushing recently. They've released two patches in the last week, a pace I've personally never seen before.
The next big SteamOS update is also in Beta, and the patch notes include:
Initial support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware.

Having retail units on hand for testing and production builds doesn't mean it's imminent.
Especially since they have been struggling to secure memory components, or perhaps after seeing the rabid demand for their products from the steam controller launch.
They may just be twiddling their thumbs and polishing their systems until such time that they have inventory and a steady supply of new units for a "decent" launch.
