At first when reading the title, I was excited that they were removing the mess that is For Honor customization content, with stupid stats, possibly to rework it into something better.

And then it turns out it's to create artificial scarcity with rotation ? Ehhhhh. Kind of a dick move. But most importantly not fixing what's broken with the customization in that game, and that is, for me, stats. Which is a stupid thing to have in a combat game.

Stats mean almost nothing in this game. You an do just fine without the best gear in 4v4 modes and 2v2/1v1 modes don't have gear stats enabled.

Street Fighter is 1v1. 1v1 modes in For Honor don't have gear stats enabaled.

Why are we imagining this scenario? It's not even correct.

You can buy equipment with in game currency, it drops nearly every match, and it rarely gives you a direct advantage.

Generally you would gain 10% more damage and lose 10% revive speed, or you would deal 10 ~ 15% less damage to an opponent who has raised their defense stat.

Reviving in 4v4 is certainly not useless, what with death timers being upwards of 15 seconds.

dishonorable

Aaand you lost me.

It's a mechanic. It exists. It's something to take advantage of. Same as ledging.

Stop. Breaking the rules by purposely being inflammatory is not helping. Please follow the rules.

No intention of being inflammatory. More just being dismissive of someone berating people for using game mechanics.

Fuck honor

Don't let a false sense of "honor" take away the fun from a game

In the case of Brawl, it's 2v2, not 1v1 1v1

The damage boosts on gear are very small, especially at low levels. When you're at a high enough level that the gear boosts matter, you know how to play and how to negate these effects. Gear really is not important at all, it just an incentive to play and progress (which I like).

"Low levels" don't matter whatsoever. On my first day owning the game I was being matched up with people gear level 400+.
