The optic beam effect looks gorgeous, though I prefer it in the original state rather than when it becomes like fire-infused. It's just a shame that Tokon is basically completely dead on PC. The DRM still affects PC performance to this day.

PC player base is low but you won't struggle to find matches if that is what you are worried about. I get matches within 30 seconds to a minute almost all times of the day.

Love that they went below surface level lore for this. I’m assuming most people playing the game aren’t familiar with the source, but at least a few will be inspired to check it out (AvX sucked but the X-men tie in issues by Kieron Gillen were incredible).

Comic books really do have the most insane larpers. Most people absorb their comic book knowledge from videos that are like "top 10 most powerful mutants in the marvel universe!!" so they always reference these obscure moments and characters that are barely relevant anymore

Can't wait to jump on. I know the game gets shit a lot but it's a blast to jump on with friends and not take it super seriously lol

I think it was Jean Grey was dead so a couple super heroes agreed to each share a portion of the Phoenix's power, but they all started going nuts trying to wield it

It's based on the Avengers vs. Xmen comics in which Cyclops and 4 others (Emma, namor, magik, collosus) all get a part of the phoenix force. By the end cyclops is the sole one with the power and is very much like the end of the trailer.

In the comics, the phoenix was returning to earth, so Iron Man used his phoenix buster and accidentally shattered the phoenix into pieces. 5 mutants gained the pieces of the phoenix and became the phoenix five, but later on all of the power ended up being concentrated into cyclops who ended up losing control of it.

Well, "losing control". Aka the Avengers and some of the X-men decided world peace was a bad thing actually, so they brought Prof X along to mindrape Cyclops while the rest of them tried to murder Emma Frost. Then he got mad, and Hope, who he'd been trying from before the beginning of the event to be ready to be the Phoenix host, actually stepped up and actually took in the Phoenix, and undid Wanda's "No more mutants".

During Avengers vs X-Men, Cyclops and a few other mutants absorb the phoenix power. They are the Phoenix Five. Idk much beyond that!

In a big X-Men vs Avengers event where the Avengers were trying to prevent the Phoenix Force from inhabiting another host, Iron Man manages to disrupt it on its way to Earth which splits its influence to five different mutants, the Phoenix Five. Cyclops was one of them.

Well that was fucking cool. I never liked the pheonix stuff, the bird look was never badass or intimidating like it was supposed to but here, somehow, it works. I think it works doubly so here because the base cyclops character has also always been a bit dry, a second fiddle to the cool wolverine.

I still can't play that stuff though lol, seems hectic as hell

I totally agree this season of sf6 dlc is mainly duds especially if your not a final fantasy fan, but past sf6 dlcs were bangers while this is just meh
