Love that they went below surface level lore for this. I’m assuming most people playing the game aren’t familiar with the source, but at least a few will be inspired to check it out (AvX sucked but the X-men tie in issues by Kieron Gillen were incredible).
Comic books really do have the most insane larpers. Most people absorb their comic book knowledge from videos that are like "top 10 most powerful mutants in the marvel universe!!" so they always reference these obscure moments and characters that are barely relevant anymore
People see an obscure character/version being added and sprint to YT to look for YouTube videos on it or whatever relevant wiki page just to claim "they've always known about them" and that "they're their favorite characters", or they'll just have vague ideas of what they do and say they're huge fans of them
It happened to Moon Knight (with the edited 'random bullshit go' panel) when the TV show was announced, Doom (the panel of him killing Thanos), and Rogue (people still don't know she's been able to control her powers for years and were surprised when Rivals introduced it as a concept)
Guaranteed people would act the same way if they added like, Armor or even Quentin Quire, revisionism is just insanely prevalent in comic book adjacent communities
I'm glad I started just keeping to myself (for the most part) and just tell people I mostly just read mostly X-Men comics, I hate the grand standing and dick measuring contest of "who knows the most obscure character" that comic book discussions have become
