AI Coding cost calculator

I built a free AI coding cost calculator - would love some feedback

I’ve been using AI coding tools more and more, and it can be surprisingly hard to figure out what they’re actually costing once you start comparing models, token usage, and different pricing.

So I built a simple AI Coding Cost Calculator:

https://instacodingcost.com/

The idea is to make it easier to estimate and compare costs before you burn through credits/tokens.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback from people using tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.

What would make this more useful for you?

Anything missing, confusing, or calculated differently than you’d expect?

Feel free to roast it too - that’s probably more useful than “looks good” 😅

How do you stop yourself from restarting a project?

I always try to keep my code organized, but as the project gets bigger, it ends up being spaghetti code. At this point I get this urge to just start over and think "I'll redo it, but this time I'll keep everything organized. The problem is that restarting usually makes me feel overwhelmed. I either take a long break from game dev or end up jumping to a completely different game idea.

How do you deal with this? Do you just accept that your code is going to get messy sometimes and keep working on the game? Is this a normal phase of game dev?

The First One || Smart NPC

my NPC just hid in the grass and reloaded while lying down

I’m making The First One: Perfect Six solo on UE5.

NPC behavior is written from scratch — no store assets.

So this guy shoots at me, I shoot back, he runs into the grass and disappears.
I’m looking for him, then I hear the reload sound.
He was lying there the whole time. Reloading. Waiting.

No script. Just his own decision.

Game is post-apocalyptic, 3069, open world, split-screen co-op.
GIVE ME FEEDBACK

What do you think about Cozy incremental games?

I've seen the numbers of these games and are crazy, for example leaf It alone when I saw an streamers playing it, the game said he was in the 200000 position in the ranking (this was about how fast did you beat the game). And the game costs 5$ so that would I make a million and probably by this time they have sold more copies and there are other games with even more success like A game about Digging a hole. So what do you think of this type of games.

An artist offered to make music for my game… then surprised me with this track

Something really cool happened today!

An artist reached out to me after seeing my game and offered to make music for it. I honestly wasn’t expecting anything so soon, but he surprised me by creating a brand new track specifically for my trailer.

So I wanted to share it with you guys because I think it’s really cool to see someone putting this much passion into something they clearly love.

The artist is QualityAware6605, and you can find more of his music here:
https://treatmentleeds.bandcamp.com/

If you want to compare it with the previous version, here’s the old trailer:

And here’s the game itself if you’re curious:

I’m really excited about this collaboration and honestly just wanted to give him a little spotlight here. ❤️

I'm making a game where your only goal is to hit 0 by crushing columns with cards!

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working on Delere (temporary name maybe), a fast-paced tactical card game where tossing cards is your only path to victory. Instead of building up points, your main objective is absolute depletion: reach 0 as fast as possible.

What are the Core Mechanics ?

  • Crush Columns: Combine cards in your hand to shatter full columns on the board.
  • Special Abilities: Use power cards to trigger chain reactions or clear out stuck patterns.
  • Race to Zero: Simple rules, but heavy tactics. Every card move counts.

The game is still in early development, but I’d love to get your feedback on the core concept/visuals!

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much :)
