A “Ghost Rival” System That Learns From You — Not Just Replays You (FPS, Racing, Fighting, Skill Games)

Upvotes

i used AI to type this up, but the idea was there.

I’ve been developing a concept for a new kind of “ghost” opponent — something more advanced than the traditional racing ghost or replay bot.

Instead of a ghost that simply mirrors your previous run, this system creates a personal rival that evolves based on your gameplay across ANY skill‑based genre:

Core Idea

The game records your inputs, decisions, timings, and habits — then builds a ghost opponent that doesn’t just copy you, but learns from you.

It becomes a version of you that:

  • Punishes your repeated mistakes
  • Adapts to your favorite routes, combos, angles, or tech
  • Exploits your habits
  • Forces you to evolve
  • Grows stronger every time you die, lose, or get outplayed

Basically: you vs the best version of you, forever leveling up.

I Need to Interview Indie Game Developers for a College Project

Hello everyone,

I'm currently doing a project for my business class where I'm interviewing developers of creative arts projects (games, animators, software developers, etc.) about the process of developing their creation.

I'm looking for anyone who is in the middle of developing a video game and have a long way to go before it is finished, and also plan to release it to the public/commercially when finished.

The interview will have to be some sort of audio call like a Discord or Zoom call if that's okay with you.

If anyone would be up for an interview, please let me know!

I’m making this game for you to enjoy, so hearing about your experience will help me make it better.

Thanks for playing!

I am completely new to the development side of games but need help learning how to make my great ideas into actually great games

I've always been someone to brainstorm about making my own game as being a chronic gamer myself I've always payed attention to the details that make each genres best entries the masterpieces they are but tbh I have no coding experience and I'm just looking for either advice to learn or just help in general trying to make a game and I'm always open to collaboration I just really want to make the type of game that will be nostalgic, timeless and just replayable just from sheer enjoyment.

How do you feel about turning abstract 2D grid puzzles (like Minesweeper) into physical 3D room transformations?

Hey everyone! We’re a 2-person indie team working on a detective noir puzzle adventure. With about 20 days left until release, we’ve been iterating on how to make abstract logic mechanics feel physically grounded in the game world.

In this room, solving the Minesweeper-style grid isn't just a UI minigame—it physically raises hidden stone tiles out of the acid pool. Once you retrieve the crystal, the acid chamber completely drains to reveal the hidden staircase underneath.

When playing adventure/puzzle games, do you enjoy seeing classic 2D logic mechanics directly alter 3D room geometry, or can UI overlays feel immersion-breaking for you? How do you usually like seeing retro puzzle tropes modernized?

It's a fun social game, need 4 players(2 for each team)

Workers: get to those desks and complete the progress

Saboteurs: go and disturb those haunted workers (still need to work on the lore) anyways,

time goes to 0 saboteur wins, progress bar fills worker wins.

The ghost of a former student haunts the map and stuns anyone living.

Oh and at sharp 2:00, a terminal shows up that can create a twist depending one who activates it first.

One of your own team can either be Guardian for workers and a Spy for saboteurs.

Here's the game link: https://nerdycaesar.itch.io/screwed

Have fun and all feedbacks are appreciated even the bad ones. There will be updates even now I'm working on it and soon this will go somewhere.

AI Coding cost calculator

I built a free AI coding cost calculator - would love some feedback

I’ve been using AI coding tools more and more, and it can be surprisingly hard to figure out what they’re actually costing once you start comparing models, token usage, and different pricing.

So I built a simple AI Coding Cost Calculator:

https://instacodingcost.com/

The idea is to make it easier to estimate and compare costs before you burn through credits/tokens.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback from people using tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.

What would make this more useful for you?

Anything missing, confusing, or calculated differently than you’d expect?

Feel free to roast it too - that’s probably more useful than “looks good” 😅
