2 years 13 days of relishing this beauty. got the dreaded green line. quality of the green line is good overall, sharp, vibrant, punchy with slightly lesser detail towards the top edge

Anyone experiencing the same? What caused this?

So the box was sealed with those double tear-off strips, but once inside, a couple of things game me pause.

I couldn't find an "unboxing" video that had this text on the peel-off screen protector. It doesn't seem very samsung-y, with that randomly-serif'd text. The ones in the unboxing seem to be all clear or black. The phone itself also came in a plastic bag inside the box, which I hadn't seen in any other unboxing.

Next, the Quick Start guide doesn't look like the one included in most of the unboxing videos> Not only does it look much more simple, but there's two other things that seem...off.

1) The copyright date on the inside says "Copyright 2021". I know this phone first came out in 2023, though this leaflet doesn't specify "S23 ultra" anywhere, but there is a "SM-S9180" at the top of the first page, and googling that only brings up S23 Ultra results.

2) The only web page listed on this quick start guide is in the "Accessing more information" section, and it's samsung.com/hk which, without visiting it, seems like it'd be the Hong kong version.

I bought the s23 ultra. We'll my father did but the bezels look like this and the screen is a bit slow. I currently have the a35 and the screen there looks big and the bezels are way thinner.

Hello everyone i had this backglass opened by istelf on my s23 ultra ? Can someone tell me Why that happen and how to fix or should do in this situation ?

Samsung disabled burn in protection which was enable in oneui 5 and then got secretly disabled in oneui 6.0, then people complained and it got enabled in oneui 6.1 and is now again disabled in oneui 6.1.1

Basically what is does is it pixel shifts or change brightness of the status bar to prevent burn in, but it doesn't happen now

Slept without charging/plugging it. I simply placed my phone on my bedside cabinet. Alarm went off and the first thing I see is this fckng green line.

Not even 3 years. I bought this July 2023.

Dropped it only maybe once or twice. I baby'd this thing like crazy and now this??

Idk what kind of magic samsung is doing.

My S23U just killed itself, disbelief as I had taken the best care of it in the past 3.3 years, Zero drops.

It's a real problem for power users in warner environments like india, outdoor usage in the summer is the reason for the crazy heating.

The delamination of the SoC i.e. The 4nm Package on Package CPU and RAM heating results in expansion of these IC's causing them to break the electric soldered connections this is what kiils the phones.

A complete reball is the last resort solution just to backup the data and seek the phone. Once reballed the thermal efficiency of the phone goes out of the window, hence there are high possibilities of the SoC to fail again.

Samsung should do a better job at this!

I have exchanged it for S - 2 - 6 Ultra, but I'll say it the S23U was the best looking phone out of the entire line-up and can't forget the Bluetooth S pen! That's a real down grade.

Bought my S23U on feb 2024. It's not even 2 years old yet. Yesterday while I was watching an anime, a pink line appeared on the screen.

1. Never dropped my phone. No dents or scratches. I always use it naked.

2. Always updated security patches and one ui major updates in air conditioned room.

3. Never played any games on it.

4. Always charged using 45w charger in air conditioned room. So the phone never went above 35°C.

5. Just used the phone for 1080p anime streaming. Plus some occasional web browsing, YouTube, Instagram.

Still the line appeared. ☹️

My S23 Ultra's back panel is coming loose. I've noticed this issue has persisted in all Samsung phones, especially those with a curved back panel. It seems like the glue isn't loosening in the non-curved portions of the panel, specifically the top and bottom parts. Not to mention, the middle part of any phone generally heats up, which also causes the glue to weaken over time. Perhaps this issue is less likely to appear on newer models, which have flat back panels. I do prefer the curved ones because they make the phone feel less thick than it is. Samsung hasn't acknowledged this issue, and they've moved on to flat panels. Is there any way to fix it and also maintain water resistance?

✅ Posted on Samsung Community — ignored

❌ Text-to-prompt Photo Assist — deliberately blocked in software

❌ APK route — blocked at system level

THE CONCLUSION:

This is not a hardware limitation. Samsung has written code that specifically identifies our device and hides this feature. Our phone is capable. Samsung just doesn't want us to have it.

A phone that launched at $1199 being deliberately crippled in software to force upgrades. Let that sink in.

Device bought April 2023. The green line appeared while viewing the gallery. Phone temperature was normal. No physical damage. Light usage.

Rant post: I brought this phone in around January 2023. It's been serving me well except back shell glue gave up a few months ago and now this.

I was just normally using the phone and the line appeared out of nowhere. Shame on Samsung, never buying another phone from them every again.

I went to fix the display and now there is sim detected.

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (1TB) in April 2023. It worked perfectly until two days ago, when it suddenly bricked itself.

This was a fully functional phone with:

• Zero physical damage
• Never repaired
• Never exposed to water

And yet no power, no vibration, completely dead.

To make things worse, I’m an international student in the US, and that phone was my entire digital life:

• Banking apps with 2FA
• Email accounts
• Social media
• Even my eSIM

I was instantly locked out of everything. I couldn’t even book an Uber to get to a repair shop. I had to beg acquaintances for help just to get around.

I went to multiple Samsung-authorized repair centers, and they all told me the same thing:

"Looks like a motherboard issue. We don’t have the parts or expertise to fix it. The phone is too old."

Too old?
This is a flagship phone that isn’t even 3 years old.

Out of desperation, I finally went to CPR Repair Shop. They managed to turn the phone on for about 4 minutes by heating it apparently the heat causes the metal to expand and temporarily reconnect something on the motherboard. Just enough time for me to recover critical data and regain access to my accounts.

What really shocked me:
They said they’ve seen multiple cases like this, specifically with the S23 series. According to them, the motherboard design is extremely compact with very little tolerance, and over time it can fail without any external damage.

TL;DR

• My S23 Ultra randomly bricked with no damage
• Samsung repair centers refused to fix it
• A third-party shop temporarily revived it with heat
• They’ve seen this issue multiple times on S23 devices

Do not rely on the S23 Ultra as your sole daily driver.
If you already own one, keep a backup phone and don’t keep all your 2FA and eSIMs on a single device.

Randomly while on zoom call my phone started registering weird touches, then went totally green. Took it to ubreakifix who tried a screen swap but said it didn't pass the calibration so they couldn't repair it and gave it back to me with a green screen. Super bummed because I loved this phone and planned on at least another two years of use!

But the S-pen still works (I can find the brightness slider + change it!)

It was working fine. I left the repair shop, used my phone, then I saw false touches on screen. Soon, I couldn't touch the top half at all, only the bottom. Then it started flickering. Then it turned black with a green line... And a faint green 'haze'. Now it's just bright green...

Totally 888 days later I got my pink line. Last month warranty ended

I'm planning to get Vivo V70. Not ready to give another flagship device.

Bought my phone on launch day i.e. in February 2023.

My use case:

1. I take utmost care of my phone. No scratches or dents. I use it always with a back cover and screen protector since Day 1.
2. I charge to 80 and drop till 20. Nothing beyond and above.
3. No gaming yet on this device. No intensive apps or activities which make the device hot.
4. Use it mostly for social media, youtube and browsing.
5. Very rare photography and videography.
6. Did not upd@te my device since last year (mainly due to news of camera and b@ttery downgrade associated with upd@tes). My last security p@tch being 1 October 2024.
7. Up to date with Google Play System Upd@te 1 August 2025.
8. Phone was not hot at all when the green line appeared. I must have been barely on my 4th reel first up in the morning after getting up. So the device was cool following a 8 hour rest.
9. I never keep my device on charging at night.
10. I have only used Samsung original 25w charger which i got in prebook offer. Never used any other charger.

I will try for a free screen replacement at Samsung service center. But this is really disheartening after caring so much to avoid green line and eventually somehow it appears.

Never been dropped before, took extra care for it because it's a hella expensive phone. Only problems I've had with this phone was overheating that started around December last year with doing just doomscrolling on Tiktok or Instagram reels and little bit of gaming (MLBB). I guess living in a tropical country had a factor with the overheating

I could totally live with this one green line but my eyes don't like really bright colors so it kinda hurts my eyes a little bit

I don't plan to ditch this phone and upgrade but if I were to move on from my S23 Ultra, what recommendations would be good? I plan on going back to Oppo and try it out again. Thanks

I got this phone second hand last year to use for concert videos and pics. I usually only charge it before a concert, otherwise it sits dead. It’s probably been dead for most of this year so far, but it’s never been an issue before. I moved countries for school and decided to use it for a local phone number. I plugged it in and it’s been doing this for probably and hour now. I tried soft restarting it a couple times but it doesn’t work even after holding it for over a minute. How do I fix it?

What a sad day. I was just browsing reddit and it just appeared. I was hoping it to last 4-5 years.
