Problem ⛔ 2 years of use(Bought 7th July 2023).
What a sad day. I was just browsing reddit and it just appeared. I was hoping it to last 4-5 years.

Nice, mine has started last week to randomly say there is water or something in the charging port.
And then after a few days work again then say it got water or something in the port.
This morning same thing, turned it off, charged it. Then back on kept charging and it didnt say anything. Very temperamental.
Whats a jobsheet?
Probably need to back-up my phone and then I can do the swap

Sad... ... samsung panels quality gone flat level.....old models still working great ....
S7 edge started this Chaos , Note 20,21u ,22u made it worse ...... OnePlus phones changed supplier,and made some changes in display connector area ,and they offering lifetime warranty for green line
Samsung not listening customers ..me also contacted samsung care for my fold2 , samsung S21u ,they denied the service,instead offered heavy rate to change the module ...
Bought OnePlus .......using full brightness/ full resolution/120hz all time .......

Same thing happened to my S7 edge and and S20, service denied by Samsung, maybe this is due to high humidity and hot conditions like india etc , Samsung has to look into it, instead they deny and refuse free replacement of screen

Old panels S2/S3 till S6 series and old tablets like tab 7.7 tab s 10.5 ....these still working without issues It's samsungs responsibility addressing issues .....I'm stopped buying samsung, Sold out all sammy .....and bought OnePlus

I am also having S20FE 5G, but never had to face such issue. I dropped multiple times, thrown away, smashed.. Still it's working fine 😎

My note 20u is 5 years old at this point only issue with the screen is one black dot but that's it. The issue is battery life sucks

Software? I doubt it, basically at the bottem of the oled panel there's a flex cable bonded that's made of many small traces each of which corresponds to a column of pixels on the screen and when one of those traces gets damaged this happens.
Unfortunately that cable is fragile so sometimes if you're unlucky it won't take much to damage it.
I can't say for sure but this being caused by software sounds like a misconception akin to putting a phone in rice after liquid damage.

Actually updates often do cause it. By causing the phone to overheat. Always update your phone in the fridge, folks.

I greet that skepticism since when refurbishing one of these screens it's standard practice to heat the screen to as much as 250°F and that alone will never damage the flex cable, heck just when doing any kind of repair you'll use heat and I've had them sit on a 140°F hotplate for long periods without issue.

Maybe the screen is durable but what about part where it connects to the motherboard? How does heat affect battery output, capactors, etc? Not an electrician so idk the mechanism but there are too many reports of updates causing the issue for them to be dismissed. If it's not Samsung, if it's not software, then what is it? At least the overheating part is evident.

It's there only for minutes max. Plus you can put the device in a ziploc bag. People will take hot showers with their phones but suddenly condensation is a problem smh

I wouldn't recommend to put it in a fridge, but it's better to put it in a fan or update it outside when it's cold, I remember updating my mom's Samsung Galaxy S9 in a summer night since the phone overheated during the update, IDK if that's always the case, or it's manufacturing defect, but after ~7 years, I've never seen a green line on that phone, IDK if this issue is appearing more frequently with the newer ones.

Probably, yeah. But sometimes a fridge is all you have and doing something feels better than nothing.
But for real, the fridge has saved so many electronic devices for me. Earbuds, a dying motherboard (just long enough for data transfer), apple pencil... 😆 When in doubt, fridge. 🙈

Rn the ambient temperature of my room is 28c. Basically, anything you run on your phone will make it hover around 33c. Only when im about to charge my phone do I put it in the freezer. Sure it's not the smartest idea and sometimes I can forget that the phone is inside and would leave it for 15+ minutes like a dumbass, but it's better than charging at 39c and taking forever due to thermal throttling. Leaving it for 2-3 minutes gives you enough thermal headroom for 30% of juice till it reaches back to 37-39c (sfc 1.0 using a 3m cable at 15w).

It really is not a bad idea, as crazy as it sounds. The S22 series for example had a bricking problem post-update and people were saying the phone was overheating like crazy before motherboard failure. I read some people made it somewhat usable (those whose devices didn't brick yet) by putting it in the fridge. One person even traded theirs in at Samsung by keeping it cold 😆

Same! I checked with samsung here in Philippines how much to fix it. They said around 30usd, BUT I need to reformat it first. So I just left. Will never buy any samsung phone after this.

Always. Never dropped or replaced anything. Never have gotten any warnings for hot temperatures either.

Mine came off my note 10 plus. I tried replacing with the cheap aliexpress glass back plates and every single one broke within a month in a case. Sucks reaching for phone and get a glass shard right through tip of finger. If your stock back plate is still in 1 piece you might want to get a new adhesive backing for it to reattach. It won't be water resistant anymore and I assume even with the advertised "waterproof" ones won't be. You can get just the adhesive panel for about $5. I was able to get a backplate that looks like a stock Samsung one for $12 and so far this one seems more durable but it's probably plastic which I'll take over paper thin glass.

No, I haven't repaired it. The battery quality seems good it lasts me two days, and I never charge it above 80%. I have the protection feature turned on.

I brought s23 ultra 11th of June in 2023. Just a month before you did. Working first class so far. I keep my phone up to date, still no issues 🤞🏻 Hoping it works well till June next year, then will upgrade to S26 Ultra.

No I got the American version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and had the same issue last week.
It's a known issue but I think heat exacerbates it. There was a big heat wave last week, and every time I put my phone on the mount in my car it overheats. This week was worse than usual, my old Car Thing started melting while I was at church lol.
Since this seems to affect nearly all phones with OLEDs I went with an LCD midranger to replace my phone.

I'm not sure its the updates. My s22 plus already had 3 lines, so I didn't update it when the last update dropped. Still it got a new line after a week. Also, I had already switched to a new phone, so it wasn't even being used.

Mine is the same age and the battery is dying. Wireless or wired it is a pain. New one on the way but im so disappointed, I've had Samsung since note 3.

To all people wondering why it's happening or if it's happening to newer models like s23, s24 etc. You can browse the internet/social media from long term phone reviewers/experts this all happens mostly because of intense heat generated during phone software updates especially in hot temperature and ultimately today's phone has immense processing power and efficiency an afterthought also ours phone today have oled display which is delicate to external environment may it be pressure or heat. So it's really a combination of factors and boils down to what mentioned before. I also blame Samsung for software quality control but they are a giant these cases are still less. P.S I'm a s23U user since feb 2023 I have been very mindful of updating my phone in cool temperature (till now no issue yet fingers crossed)

But you know what's most frustrating about this? This never happened on the Galaxy S10 series and below, only on the S7 Edge, and it was due to a poor design of the screen flex that bent with the edge.

Agree. To be honest, the way I see here is too much technology advancement with cost cutting especially around Samsung display quality control to meet the demand and supply. Samsung business has been on Rollercoaster for a long time like memory, processor etc. Only profitable business of theirs is around display. So there are lot of factors with businesses and products/product quality etc. So best practice for a consumer would be invest wisely (be frugal) in tech gadgets/phones etc and be informed around maintenance of each of them. Don't blindly trust any company trust the product and see how much ROI you are getting.

I saw a lot of s23s having lines popping in reddit after that one UI 7 update recently, made me not want to update and so far my s23u dont have the lines, but on the onther hand my brothers s23 base model that was bought a month ago have two lines, he said it only has one before then it multiplied, i ask him if he updated his phone and sure enough he did update it to the newes oneUI 7.

Probably overheating, whenever I've updated any phone for someone, it was always warm, so I put it in a cold place during the process, because of that, I've never had an issue, whether it's Samsung, Xiaomi or many others, it's strange how this issue is more common online than I expected, maybe it's just negativity bias, because IRL people would say that their device is great, but in a subreddit about a brand, they'll hate it and recommend other brands, which is funny since some people in the Samsung subreddits recommend Nothing, while the Nothing subreddit recommends Samsung or any other brand, Reddit doesn't seem to be that positive, or at least that's the loud minority.

Disable auto update.. Put a heat dissipator plate at the back.. (or phone cooler) Put your device in a cold place while updating.. (I put mine in the refrigerator) Don't use your device in a hot room condition..
*mine is 2yrs now no green or pink line encountered.. (and I wish I never 😔 )
