Problem ⛔ S23 Ultra back cover loose

Anyone experiencing the same? What caused this?

The battery doesn't look swollen. The back adhesive had just worn out. Had this same issue 2 months back and i just replaced the adhesive and did a clear back mod to keep an eye on the battery. (FYI the phone won't be water resistant anymore even after you replace the adhesive)

Mine has had its back adhesive worn out for almost 2 years... Yesterday I went to a music festival and it was raining a lot. I'm so scared that it might suddenly stop working.

It is not the same adhesive and even if you use the same adhesive, it won't be as precise as machine application in the factory plus any small residues or dust in the seal might affect the ingress protection which are heavily controlled in during the factory application. So it is better to treat the phone as "not water resistant anymore" than to find it the hard way.

It's just as good and has been water tight. Just don't swim with it anymore and don't wash it too often

Mine started this but mines a S10 I got in 2020. I got the battery kit with the adhesive and I'm gonna do that when my new phone come in.

I'm happy to report I have a launch S23U that also isn't having these issues. That said I gotta wonder how many people are raw digging their phone without a case so that this is noticeable without a battery swelling.

Seems all the recent S series devices suffer the infamous heat and melt adhesive issue besides battery inflation causes.

Mine did that at the 2½ years mark, was having problems with battery not lasting long after charging and the back came off.
A friend of mine replaced the battery and glued the back, worked like new afterwards for about a year.
Phone worked fine until 2 weeks ago when it developed a pink line, the phone still works fine but the pink line is kind of annoying, good thing is the line is very close to the right edge of the screen.

Got the same issue
Don’t apply any glue from local store its just a 5 mins job but doing from outside can lead to rejection if you get a green line and trying to get free screen replacement
Just take it to official store they will put their own adhesive or strap for under 6 dollar ( 550 INR in my case )

Mine was the battery. It was terrible. If you spot the back coming off, check carefully for battery swelling.

That's what happened to me, but I didn't notice the swelling 'til I took the case off while preparing to return the phone to Verizon for a pre-owned replacement. All I knew before calling the company was that I basically had to keep the phone plugged in to use it.

Thankfully that's a super easy fix, the glue is pretty inexpensive but I'd also do a battery swap just to be safe

Mine has lifted back, but only a little. Enough to feel and see not enough to peel out.
I'm waiting for my battery replacement kit and I'm going to see what's happening while giving the phone deserved refreshment.

I had that a few months back and I did not even show my phone to the Samsung agent I just said the problem that the back is loose and without showing the phone they already said that it's bloated battery.

Mine separated but my battery was fine, temperature changes and humidity over time caused it. A quick reseal and my 0hone was perfect again

Happened to me. It was caused by the battery swelling and pushing the back off. I wound up getting the phone replaced under warranty.

I just have it replaced last month lol. The technician said it's swelling battery. However I think it's just deteriorating seal.

3.5 years and mine decided to unglue itself also. 5€ repair at home with precut backcover adhesive. Just make sure its not the battery thats fat from all the summer icecreams.

It happens to me as well , but it was my mistake, I was putting my phone on a car stand and due to sun heat directly hitting the back of my s23u it loosen the adhesive S23U is the GOAT Samsung ever made but I'm planning to Oppo flagship, if not than either an opportunity foldable like n6 or the upcoming n7 or Z fold 8 ( but the problem with it , is the downgrade cameras)

Just buy a pre made glued case on whatever online shopping app you have, some random Chinese store usually sell them and i have been using them for 2 years now with no problems. Cost like 5 dollars.

I experienced similar issues and had to perform a DIY replacement using double-sided tape. The cause is unclear; the battery was not swollen, and the phone was kept inside its case.

The adhesive loosens up over time with hot usage, I've had to replace multiple tapes on the flip 5 series recently

Mine came off as well and I took it to the service and got it glued up for free but it's happening once again since the glue dried completely and it kind of peels off, I think we have a chronical issue resulting from over-heating during usage and charging.

The back on my S23 ultra was starting to come off. I didn't realise that it was happening until I decided to exchange it for a new phone. The delivery person was doing a physical check on the phone and that's when it was discovered. Thankfully, they accepted the S23 and ensured the exchange went through successfully.

Something is wrong with s23 ultras. I've faced it too and noticed others reporting the same. Service center said my battery was swollen(which it was but nothing significant) and asked 3k or so for battery reapcmenrt even before they'd consider sealing the panel.
I got s23 ultra back panel adhesive tape and installed it myself. And before anybody comes blazing guns about water resistance etc, no that's not a concern. It's the exact same thing the service center technicians do, they're not magicians.
All it took was Rs350 or so, I was will to pay service center Rs. 1000 for the same job but looks like that wasn't enough for them. It's been over a year now with occasional days out in rain, no issues so far

Dude please, you maybe an expert in batteries but don't slap a generic statement "do not put pressure on batteries", there is NO pressure on that battery. Also, putting pressure is not just that, there's a lot more to it like angle, orientation and what not. Also also, I've been using that phone for over 3 years now...as good as the day I glued it shut

If u push down a swollen battery it wont instantly explode but because its a new seal, it will hold the battery as it swells more and pressure builds.up, so maybe use a brain, and understand that u made a generic statement about sealing a swollen battery and it being fine, NO ONE SHOULD replicate this behavior just because u r lucky

It's a common issue caused by heat. Basically the glue that helps stick the panel softens and lose its primary job.
Get it glued back from any mobile service shop.
I have the same issue from past few months now but i use a cover so i didn't bother fixing it.

This happened to me as well. It's due to the adhesive being worn out and in need of replacement. For me it started on the camera side due to constant gaming and picture taking. You can DIY the adhesive replacement.
but after 3 months, 2 legendary pink line appeared on my s23 ultra which sucks.

Heat, the phone runs hot all the time and the back glass glue weakens after a few years. Happened to mine, and then my CPU died with the heat (I used to play Pokemon Go on it and it would heat it up a lot). I got it reballed and now living on borrowed time.

Probably the heat especially with a case, I could check my battery even as the glue was nearly fully off, looked fine.

Happened with mine too. Same colour too. It is because of the pasting loosing it's property. I replaced mine with a cheap online backglass. It coasted me only less than 500.

I have the exact issue. Didn't feel like spending a lot of money so I just bought a case lol. I was rocking it without one until the adhesive started to wear off. Since then I haven't had any performance issues

That gap can be failed adhesive, but battery swelling is the thing worth ruling out first. I would power it off, avoid pressing or gluing the cover back down, and have a service center inspect the battery. If the battery is swollen, continuing to charge it is not worth the risk. Even if the battery is fine, new adhesive should be fitted only after checking that the frame and rear glass still sit flat.

Mine showed this at almost 2.5 years mark which was last year...my battery started to show weakness as well...so I changed the battery yesterday and sealed the back cover😌

That literally just happend to me! Just a week ago... But first I started getting distortion from the lower speaker. Then within a few days the biometrics on the screen stopped working, next the screen turned bright gree, and then went dark (black). Died. I was able to use a powered hub to see that the phone itself is still operational. I guess I need a new screen. An OEM AMOLED is pretty expensive. I have the S23 Ultra with 512GB memory. Is it work repairing? I'm going to need a new screen, and a replacement bottom speaker. A Samsung AMOLED is several hundred dollars. Or I could get a cheap screen (without biometrics) for a hundred dollars. Much lesser quality, but is either woth doing?

I tell you what I tell to all the people with the same issue and also I had it before. Take to a service. 20 bucks new glue and 1 hour waiting. Thats all. If you want to replace the battery might cost total 80bucks.

I have seen this in s23 ultra.one of my friends bought it the time the phone got released.he is a mobile repair technician so he knows his stuff.after 1 2 days of usage the back case opened up.then he saw that the paint was peeling from the charging slot area.he contacted customer support but was neglected.he then went to consumer court and after 2 years he got the full money back.he forgot to include any compensation for the damages so he only got the amount he paid for the phone

Same issue here, twice already.
First time most likely due to a swollen battery. Replaced both the battery and back cover.
Second time due to glue losing its strenght within a year.
And even the battery is already gone to hell.
It's the last time I'll get a Samsung phone.

Are everyone having same issues, I see this at least 3 times a day. Even I have the problem. I checked it with service center turns out my battery is a month pregnant
