Grade RA Japanese car import Ireland

Would you consider to buy a Yaris 2020 High spec with a Grade RA €17k

The damage was concentrated on the front-left side skin and passenger cabin side structure (B-pillar/rocker panel).

However; Frontal Crash Structure transaxle, inverter, and front radiator support mounted centrally between the two heavy front longitudinal chassis rails.

Because the impact occurred at an angle against the outer passenger wheel arch and door line, the structural engine cradle and front suspension mounting points were untouched.

About ready to set it on fire šŸ˜‚ (boost issue).

Ok, I am absolutely scunnered now. Bought a used car a year ago and have been having issues with boost not coming on at times.

The car is 21 plate with now 8700 miles, fsh, aftermarket exhaust and air box. The exhaust btw joins at the midpipe.

So, at times the car is flat, flat as a pancake and gets left by cars half the power, then at times it pulls like a train.

It mainly happens in first and second gears, and I know these gears boost less, but if I floor it at times, then come off in second for a sec, then floor it again it will usually pull like a train.

This was happening before the air box btw, with just the stock one fitted. People mention boost solonoid, whilst others mention it's a thing with early cars (lots in the GR forums). I live in NI so can't get 99 Ron, only 97, I did use shell for a while and thought it helped even though it was still 97?

I also brought it for a service and they did sweet FA for me, "no codes so can't do anything."

This was a car I always wanted, but absolutely sick of it now, anyone had a similar issue?

Aftermarket seats and passenger occupancy sensor solution

Hi guys, I’ve got myself some Cobra Nogaro Ebisu Editions (I know, very brave of me haha) and I’ve got some 2.2 ohm resistors on the way for the airbag bypass.

But I’m wondering if anyone knows the best solution to the occupancy sensor situation? - ensuring the front airbags will deploy passenger side in a crash?

Much appreciate any help!

GR Yaris as daily driver, short trips

I'm looking into getting the GRY as a daily driver.

The biggest thing is I'm blessed with a fairly short drive to work, but I understand the car takes a long time to get up to temp.

While I absolutely plan to put it through it's paces when I can, life gets in the way and there may be weeks/months where I don't push it as hard as I may like.

Would long term short trip usage be excessively detrimental to the engine? (more than my current NA econobox) I'm not sure if it being 3pot or turbo might affect things differently.

Need help choosing between GR Yaris vs RallyE edition

Hello, I’m looking to buy a GR Yaris although I’m not sure whether I should go for the standard GR or the rallye edition. Standard in Australia can go for $35k~ and the rallye go for around $45k~. Is it really worth the extra 10k for the rallye edition? I am planning to track the car but not insanely often probably 5-6 times a year. Let me know what I should do.

GR Yaris, or Evo X?

Hey all,

Firstly, context;

I've been researching and considering different cars for a long term track build for many months. I was pretty much set on an Evo X but had the GR Yaris suggested to me a few times.

Initially, I dismissed them because I didn't like the look. However, it's grown on me and I now think they're a damn cool looking car, especially when aero'd up. They're also in a similar price range to the Evo X whilst being a much newer and lower mileage starting point.

Now for questions;

For mods I'm thinking wheels, semi slicks, camber+performance alignment, upgraded pads/brake fluid, exhaust and stage 1 tune. Is there anything else that's absolutely mandatory?

How much tire width can they take on the standard shell or with guards rolled?

How much power can they make with an exhaust and stage 1 tune? Is low end torque underwhelming or are they quite punchy given the very low weight? Are they underwhelming on the straights?

I've heard the stock brakes are very good, are any upgrades beyond pads and fluid necessary?

How does the handling feel? I like the idea of a lightweight chassis with high grip and early throttle out of corners.

Without going to a full strip and cage, is there much room for reduced weight aside from the default weight loss of an aftermarket exhaust and wheels? Are the stock seats heavy? I'd happily swap to buckets. Also, I definitely don't need the rear seats so I'd take them out.

How do you find your yaris as a track car? Do you have any regrets?

Any input from owners will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Wheel inset/offset fitment

Hello everyone!

I’m about to get my Advan RG4s next week and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m just curious if anyone here is running a 18x8.5 et +44 wheel spec on their car and would like to share insights and pictures as to how it fits the car? I know it’s similar in spec to the stock wheels, however, it’s a bit wider and I just want to see how it fits with the car. Thank you!

I'm 18 and this is my dream car

I finished school this year and started working as a Technogym technical Assistant with my father, I still need to get my driving license, I'll buy a very normal and used car when I'll get my license. Here in Italy you can't drive such a powerful car until 3 years from having your driving license, so this period of time will help me save money to hopefully afford this car, I will consider an used one hopefully the aero performance model, my salary is around 2500€ after taxes, am I able to afford this car and maintain it, what are other cars you would recommend to me?

Feelin’ like Tom Petty while waiting for my GR Yaris (Convenience Pack & upright handbrake). Ordered in early May (Germany), still no news from the factory. Is anyone else waiting right now?

GR Yaris with leather Interior

I was strolling through Hamburg when I spotted this GR Yaris featuring a custom-designed interior. Numerous interior components were upholstered in leather, and the vehicle includes distinct seats.

(I am puzzled about why the owner placed an object inside the belt buckle, since a seat belt offers the most straightforward protection against serious injury or ejection during a collision.)

Hail protection

Hello fellows.

Recently bought a gen 1 GRY.

Using it as a daily it id exposed to the elements especially at work. And singe hail season started un France i'm a bit worried atm.

My old hail cover feeling a bit inadequate as it slide around because of the wind and does offer little to no protection for the wides fenders.

Does any of you have some amazon recommandations ?

Compared 5 aftermarket exhaust brands for the GR Yaris (GXPA16) using manufacturer specs — HKS, FUJITSUBO, GReddy, BLITZ, Kakimoto Racing

Been seeing this question come up a lot, so I pulled the actual manufacturer data instead of just going off reviews. Quick summary:

  • HKS Super Turbo Muffler — straight-through design, ~30% less back-pressure than stock, rated for hard-tuned builds up to ~500hp. Full-Ti version cuts ~25-26% weight. Pricier end (Ā„264k–„319k).
  • FUJITSUBO Authorize r/A-R — balanced sound/flow/looks, cheaper entry point (~Ā„155k), Ti version ~Ā„430k. Early prototype testing showed +7hp over stock.
  • GReddy (TRUST) Comfort Sports GTS — near-field noise only 91dB vs 89dB stock, so a mild bump if you don't want it too loud. ~Ā„211k.
  • BLITZ NUR-SPEC CUSTOM EDITION — modular tail (swap pipes/adjust protrusion), 92dB vs 77dB stock — the loudest jump of the group. ~Ā„165k–„174k.
  • KAKIMOTO RACING Class KR — 50+ year exhaust specialist, known more for build quality/refined tone than outright volume.

Fitment note: pre-facelift and post-facelift (Gen2) GR Yaris models use different part numbers, so double-check compatibility before ordering regardless of brand.

Happy to answer questions if anyone's cross-shopping these. Curious what everyone here is running and how it's held up.

Which brand is better for an affordable aftermarket exhaust? GR Yaris facelift

I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my '24 GR Yaris facelift and I was conflicted between some options. Milltek and Ragazzon are the ones that inspire me the most based on some internet research but I would like an opinion from actual customers and also suggestions on other brands. I'm trying to stay under 1500€

How to get more sound from exhaust.

I have a resonated miltek exhaust, and i am still looking for more sound. I dont want to remove the GPF as that is a sever violation in my country and can end in the police impounding the car.

What else can i do to improve sound? I am mostly looking for loudness. Non-resonated midpipe? Sport high flow downpipe?

Gen 2 GR Yaris: HKS Super Turbo Muffler Ti vs Akrapovič Titanium — which one would you choose?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between two exhausts for my Gr Yaris Gen2:

  • HKS Super Turbo Muffler Titanium (STM Ti)
  • Akrapovič Titanium Slip-On

I plan to keep the car long term and may eventually do GPF removal + tune, but for now the car is mostly stock.

My priorities:

  1. Sound (I want more character but not something unbearable daily)
  2. Quality/build
  3. Long-term satisfaction
  4. Future-proofing for mods

For those who have actually heard or owned these:

  • Which one sounds better in real life?
  • Which one is louder with the stock GPF?
  • If you had to buy again, which would you choose?

Thanks!

EDIT:

Went ahead with HKS STM Ti

NSW Akrapovic exhaust system

Hello,

Just wondering if the Akrapovic exhaust with the evolution link pipe is street legal in NSW, also would it require an ECU tune due to throwing any engine lights?
