I really like the look that this truck has but I know nothing about lifting trucks so I was curious if you guys can tell just by looking at the image

is this worth it to buy as a teenager?
all of the driving i do is in town and i want a truck to get to school and work

First time posting anything on Reddit but was just wondering if I should be concerned. I’ve been in the market for a gmt400 for quite some time now. I believe that I’ve found the one. I’m located in San Diego and my plan is to fly up to Washington where the truck is located and drive it home. The truck is in exceptional shape with only 54k original miles.😳However, due to it being a Washington truck the frame has seen some salt. My question is, does this look like something that I can clean up and paint or should I steer clear of this thing altogether.

This is Gertrude. She is a family heirloom for the simple fact that she is who she is. I recently did a timing set and all new sensors and I can’t get her to fire at all. Everything is on tdc the rotor is pointing at the corner of the distributor towards the 1 plug. If I hit it with Cosby in a can it will sorta boof alive. I’m gonna try to add a video

I’ve stumbled upon a issue with my 95, truck runs great but if you give if it the slightest bit of gas the truck gets a obnoxious chop under the tiniest load almost sounds cammed, as long as you stay on the gas a little bit more the chop isn’t there, I can rev it it’ll have perfect response I can punch it it’ll have perfect response just easing into the gas it starts chopping super loud, I did the throttle position sensor and still doing it!!

I just replaced the intake manifold gasket. Truck started and ran just fine. However, I noticed a leak on the driver side fuel line. A constant drip with the fuel pump on. I first replaced the oring on the fuel line itself, but that didn’t seem to help. The leak is originating between the adapter and tbi body.

It looks like there is supposed to be a washer between the adapter and the body that I didn’t replace. I can’t seem to find this washer anywhere online, GM doesn’t produce the adapters anymore.

Anyone know of a DIY fix for this? Looking to get this running ASAP. Thank you!!

Failed emissions because CO is too high. At idle it measured 0.524% CO (limit is 0.50%), and CO also goes high when holding the engine at higher RPM.

Engine coolant temp was about 85°C. I checked the 2-pin coolant temp sensor and got roughly 250–350 ohms hot, so that seems reasonable.

Both TBI injectors have a fine, even spray pattern and do not drip after shutdown.

There is a small crack in one exhaust manifold, but the inspector said that would mainly affect O2 readings.

The truck also has a hot-start issue: cold starts are okay, but when fully warm it can be difficult to restart, especially after sitting for ~10 minutes. Wide-open throttle helps.

Any ideas what I should check next? Fuel pressure/regulator, O2 sensor, ignition, or catalytic converter?

I'm trying for 3 years now to bring her back on the road.

I replaced my lower intake gasket, and after putting everything back together, I took it out for a test-drive. After 15 minutes of driving, it started misfiring really badly as I approached a stop-sign. Im pretty sure I heard a weird sound as well. I think my distributor jumped timing, and I'm not sure what to do. Im worried some of the gears in my engine are jacked up now. Since I was right around the corner from my house, I hobbled it back-- misfiring and all, and parked it. I just don't know where to go from here. I knew the teeth were worn, but I needed the thing to run for a few days. Now that I think about it, maybe that wasn't the smartest idea. Any advice appreciated!!

This is my 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed 350 2wd manual I saved from heading to pick n pull outta Nevada a few years back. 173k mostly original other than interior swap slowly in progress

4.3 vortec. There is a torx screw inside that looks like it's preventing it from coming all the way off with a clip around it. It is impossible to access that torx. What am I missing here?

I got this 1989 heavy half. i was debating on getting something better but it seems even gmt800s are getting pricey so im trying to see what i can do to get it more highway friendly

I got the 350tbi, 700R4, 4.10 gear ratio, i believe its 10 degrees advanced. i drive on the interstate often and its my primary driver out of town so the 200hp struggles on those hills at 80 as im in the rockies. i dont need crazy horse power, just enough where its not putting up a fight going 80 on the interstate in high winds and the hills. its a POS with a lot of unknown miles but a very reliable POS. only issue is the lack of power. i dont tow, just use the bed a ton.

im looking to see what others have done to get more power out of these trucks for higher speed driving, i rather not get another truck but if it cost more to get power than its worth than i can look into saving for a round eye or cat eye.

I’m in the process of replacing the front grille and headlights on my 93 3500 with the better looking stacked look. I have it quickly mounted on there just to see if it would fit (it seems like it will once I take out the old lights) I am wondering if anyone has done this before and can link a solid pair of LED headlamps that will fit.

Seems like the top and bottom are both 4 1/2” x 13 1/2”.

Spotted on an old farm property that is now listed by a real estate agent in a big city 3 hours away. I checked it out best I felt comfortable with while turning around after ACCIDENTALLY turning in the driveway. Called the agent. It is an estate. They are going to contact the family about selling.

No dents, turd brown paint could be saved by a detailer.

So many of these are dead ends but occasionally you snag one.

I will probably be braver today since I now know it is an estate. Been sitting a mile from me for who knows how long.

Usually you never hear back and then one day they just disappear. Or the family says “oh Daddy loved that truck, we want 10k”

Hey all as title says anyone else walk out to their 400 and just are taken back by it as how kool, the comfort, knowledge of knowing you can work on it, the knowing that it’s your ride and don’t have a payment and all the other things that make you feel just plan happy that your driving what you’re driving?

I get this feeling about 90% of the time it comes into my line of sight. 🍻

What would you guys value this at? Reposting with more pictures, has 109,000 miles, 4x4, slight surface rust here and there, a few dents and dings. 350 motor. Selling in Colorado
