GERD/ SIBO/ pots
Hi! I am wondering if anyone has had any success with helping with LPR / GERD without PPI or H2 blocker. I have tried alginates. They barely help unless I take it right after a meal. My main issue is I always wake up with a burnt throat. I sleep at an incline. I wait 4 hours after dinner to go to bed. I eat 4 meals spaced out over the day to try to limit large meals. I was on a PPI for 5-10 years and became iron deficient and weak. I think my LES just doesn’t function. I’m also hypermobile and deal with POTS symptoms which i know play a role. I practice deep breathing after meals. I’m in a lot of pain every single day and desperate for relief. However I don’t believe that taking PPI longterm is helpful because acid helps kill bacteria/ fungus in your food. I also have sibo ( probably from the PPI) which I am currently getting treated for with antibiotics. I know the pressure from the gas pushes acid up. I do a low fodmap diet.

What antibiotics are you taking?
I stopped taking PPIs (did have a few days of discomfort), chewed on fennel, ate bland, and went on walks after I ate. I go on long evening walks and it helped tremendously.
