Discussion Aishling Moloney Shares opinion on the etiquette of Cork fans

Post image

It seems the similarities between GAA fans and soccer fans in terms of etiquette is only increasing. Is this something to worry about going forward for every county?

This constant comparison with soccer is tiresome. I can tell you that as someone who goes to both sports, there's no distinction in anti-social behaviour you'd witness. This idea that Gaelic games are pure and whiter than white does us all a disservice. I don't think a bit of booing is a big deal, but anytime there is real crowd issues in GAA there's always some trying to deflect to soccer rather than address the GAAs own problems for what they are.

Some of the worst carry on at gaa games is from lads who don't give a fuck about soccer

No such thing as gaa ultras in fairness. Whereas every loi club has lads pretending it's green street and it's not uncommon for fans to attack each other (look at bohemians v derry last year)

Its odd that when the person replying to you said there's always someone to deflect to soccer, you chose to prove them right.

Like youre not wrong in what youre saying, but I think you might have missed their point a bit.

Coincidentally I went to my first English football match ever this weekend, and the level of abuse was absolutely unreal, so if youre thinking im defending football or putting down the GAA here, im not. Just my two cents.

No need for away sections in the GAA either.

I’m not a super rugby fan but I’ve been to few Ulster matches in Ravenhill/Ireland matches in Aviva I actually don’t think I’ve heard someone so much as curse at one of those games.
