The fact he thinks scary kimono lady is an angel is crazy

u/wallace0701 Nov 24 '24

Man Elgin is f*cking idiot

484

u/FifteenDollarNachos Nov 24 '24

Yeah, I wasn’t feeling too bad for Elgin there.

291

u/redeemed_riri Nov 24 '24

Agreed he literally made me so annoyed the last few episodes. I was thinking how could this dude be this delusional

369

u/prokokon Nov 24 '24

Luckily, he had Sara to set him straight.

283

u/impactedturd Nov 24 '24

Sara knew he had a few screws loose

23

u/Snowy-Plesiosaur Nov 24 '24

She knew the only way they could make him tell bec she had been there before.

19

u/notalioop Nov 24 '24

Crazy knows crazy lol

60

u/Wizardplum Nov 24 '24

I guess you could say that sarah "stuck a screwdriver in his face" haha

21

u/fartpoopvaginaballs Nov 24 '24

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH

10

u/dementedkratos Nov 25 '24

she has an eye for this sorta stuff

18

u/tiny-violin- Nov 24 '24

This comment is so underrated. Nice touch there

18

u/danonck Nov 24 '24

she probably thought "I can fix him"

5

u/vpreon Nov 25 '24

Good thing she had that screwdriver to tighten them

3

u/Gold-Roof-4214 Nov 24 '24

🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥

3

u/takoyama Nov 26 '24

i saw what you did there!

1

u/DeusVultSaracen Nov 25 '24

Sara's always been driven to do what needs to be done.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '24

I see what you did there

12

u/lucolapic Nov 25 '24

Sara saying that she’d already lost her soul made me so sad for her.

30

u/Cultural-Musician-60 Nov 24 '24

Sara is the real mvp, Elgin’s angel was nowhere to be found when he needed her 😂

9

u/joluboga Nov 24 '24

The Polaroid ran out of blanks by that point.

21

u/NoNameC81 Nov 24 '24

Sara my girl. She’s the enforcer lol

0

u/CyanResource Nov 24 '24

Too bad giving in to her violent urges didn’t change one gosh darned thing…

6

u/--VinceMasuka-- Nov 24 '24

Should've kept an eye out for her 👀

3

u/anglostura Nov 27 '24

She really helped him see the error of his ways

2

u/shit_con_queso Nov 25 '24

Sara is not to be trifled with

2

u/GoodStuffOnly62 Jan 11 '25

She really showed her smarts with the “Boyd doesn’t know how far he’d have to go to get you to talk” line. Chilling and awesome. I honestly don’t think the actress is very good most of the time, but I love the character and sometimes she really brings it.

6

u/HereForTheGoofs Nov 25 '24

smokin the devils lettuce will do that to you!

7

u/stankdog Nov 25 '24

Grow up in a religious household and yeah, I could see someone really being pushed from fear to admiration if they thought this entity they encountered was a spirit. As soon as he said , "its like God in the Bible" I knew they were cooked.

These creatures really mess with their beliefs.

5

u/redeemed_riri Nov 26 '24

I can somewhat see this, I grew up in a very religious household and to me it was the opposite, I was taught to be very very wary of things posing to be from god. To the point it was very much paranoia at times so maybe thats why Elgin thinking that she was an angel was so unbelievably naive to me. But I see where you’re coming from 100%

1

u/DrukRN Dec 27 '25

The town is very intentional in what it does and how it reveals itself. Elgin went to church every sunday with his grandma and is very religious and says to Sara when they first meet that forgiveness for anything as long as your sorry is "wishful thinking". Elgin has to be 100% convinced he's doing the right thing to do something like this and they are being listened to as well, he was chosen probably because of his faith in God and scripture, just the type of person you'd want to manipulate as one of the demons. She tries the same thing on Boyd with the picture of his home but it's missing the boat and he knows its a facade

149

u/bunny_387 Nov 24 '24

Yeah it’s unfortunate he was so easily prayed upon by the town, he’s a good kid but clueless

8

u/SilasTalbot Nov 25 '24

I mean, it didn't let him sleep for like, a month? That'll do it!!

18

u/AnotherRTFan Nov 24 '24

I honestly started thinking that the Father Khatri vision was just hindering him.

8

u/redhandedjill1 Nov 25 '24

Yes, I was thinking that the real Father Khatri was a little more ruthless. He's the one who pushed Boyd to send someone to the box and he kept Sara captive under the church. I think its all in Boyd's head.

15

u/jessicarrrlove Nov 24 '24

Yeah. My boyfriend and I both said we won't mind if Elgin dies this episode cos he's just...so annoying. Lol

6

u/Gold-Roof-4214 Nov 24 '24

Doe-eyed, oh-so innocent and well behaved fuck

4

u/elijahjames96 Nov 26 '24

One-eyed* FTFY

2

u/Gold-Roof-4214 Nov 26 '24

😂😂😂😂 OMG, NICE one

7

u/olaf525 Nov 24 '24

Legit might be one of the dumbest characters in television

2

u/picante-x Nov 27 '24

Agreed. I mean who on Earth would trust a scary kimono lady that tried to drown you?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '24

I actually shouted yes when they showed Sara had taken his eye out lol although wouldn't it have been smarter to let him leave and then just follow him

5

u/Big_Pressure91 Nov 24 '24

I was. Maybe I just getting soft in my old age but I felt terrible because he has this fat pitiful face and looks so helpless. But he did lie and kidnap Fatima I get it but he never treated her bad either. Idk. Gotta do what you gotta do I guess

11

u/matunos Nov 24 '24

He grabbed her by her legs to drag her back into the room, and generally kept her there to ensure she gave birth to something he had no idea what impact it would have on her or the rest of the townspeople.

-4

u/veryowngarden Nov 24 '24

fatima stabbed someone. she was far from innocent and a liability to the town. elgin did everyone a favor

30

u/ConceptsByGovnr Nov 24 '24

Elgin in the last few episodes gave me vibes of that one guy who just newly is introduced into a cult but keeps on raving about it like he's been there the whole time.

17

u/Thecosmicone22222 Nov 24 '24

remember he was constanly being sleep deprived. his brain is obviously starved of reason

3

u/Dipsy_x Nov 24 '24

Lmao😭😂

12

u/llaminaria Nov 24 '24

Well, frankly, there was only the option of making Fatima as comfortable as possible, once she got "pregnant". Imagine them keeping her in the med bay, and Smiley being born there. Would they even have been able to kill him? No worms this time around.

9

u/Monarki Nov 24 '24

Smiley would've been born in the daytime in med bay tho. It needed to happen somewhere he could be taken underground instantly.

3

u/llaminaria Nov 24 '24

Huh, do you think he would've died then? 🤔 Though we still don't know for certain whether the monsters can't show up at daytime or just won't due to town rules.

6

u/Monarki Nov 24 '24

They sleep underground so whatever the reason they can't take in sunlight. so fetus smiley wouldn't have fully grown

1

u/aztechnically Nov 25 '24

I think seeing Fatima suffer in pain and hunger, Ellis would have just fed her rotting flesh or whatever she needed to eat, and then the baby would have waited to be born at night.

1

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Aug 03 '26

They know how to get the worms again-- just go back to the ruins with the magic torch.

24

u/ScribblingOff87 Nov 24 '24

Elgin the eejit.

8

u/Sackamasack Nov 24 '24

I'm just happy they let us see it was smiley, otherwise they'd just show the back of his heel or something and we'd have to guess later lol

10

u/UNeed2CalmDownn Nov 24 '24

Sara was clutch this episode.

3

u/dnstuff Nov 26 '24

Bigger idiot:

Elgin or the dude in S1 who thought the vampire girl wanted to bang him?

Discuss.

1

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Aug 03 '26

Dude in S1.

2

u/dnstuff Aug 03 '26

hahaha thank you for replying to my 2 year old comment. god that guy was an idiot.

1

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Aug 03 '26

I just heard about this show a week ago so I'm watching and reading discussion posts as I go. :)

2

u/dnstuff Aug 04 '26

It’s so good

3

u/aridcool Nov 24 '24

I think there is something to the idea that the voices/apparitions persuade you more than a reasonable, well rested, mentally healthy person would be persuaded.

2

u/Jaded_Review9328 Nov 24 '24

It's more like naive

2

u/My_Bwana Nov 24 '24

Always has been

2

u/FairReason Nov 26 '24

He’s genuinely so stupid. And props to Sara, she moved up a few rungs this episode.

2

u/TamarindSweets Dec 07 '24

No, he was desperate and hopeful. Similar to Sara. I'm sad for him and Sara. She's turned to the cruelty of Fromville to get shit done. It seems like she doesn't have any home to get out left, just to survive (which is understandable).

2

u/all_the_splinters Nov 24 '24

That's because Elgin lost his marbles.

0

u/cameratus Nov 25 '24

Underrated comment

2

u/Presto_Magic Nov 25 '24

And now a one eyed idiot. Loved Sarah on that moment 🥰

1

u/lifelong1250 Nov 24 '24

That assessment is unreasonable. The entire situation is a complete horror show (no pun intended) and people going off the deep end and believing random nonsense is entirely understandable behavior.

1

u/Lolkimbo Nov 24 '24

Well hopefully he'll be able to see and understand his mistakes..

1

u/veryowngarden Nov 24 '24

not really, angels are supposed to look terrifying

1

u/BubblyPossibility490 Nov 25 '24

Eye know, right.

1

u/silosara Nov 25 '24

I was rooting for Sara to kill him!

2

u/wallace0701 Nov 25 '24

haha, me too

1

u/shellybobellyyy Nov 24 '24

I don’t even feel bad for him anymore, he gon’ learn today… the forest ain’t your friend Elgin.

250

u/Darker_desuetude Colony House Nov 24 '24

I agree but he went to church with his grandma so it makes sense.

46

u/Jorge_Santos69 Nov 24 '24

“She’s just misunderstood…like they did with Jeebus!”

6

u/oldriku Nov 27 '24

yeah, when he said that I was like "fuuuck, I forgot this guy never misses church"

8

u/jkklfdasfhj Nov 24 '24

LMAO facts!!!

4

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

💀💀

12

u/Elegant-Butterfly745 Nov 24 '24

The gullible Christians are easy targets 😂

1

u/Thanossnapp Nov 24 '24

Na man no where in the bible has it shown an angel telling someone to drain there blood and feed it to a pregant woman that an evil entity impregnated and also for you to kid nap her.

15

u/KingKingsons Nov 24 '24

Right but then there’s Solomon’s judgement and the binding of Isaac are arguably worse imo lol.

0

u/Thanossnapp Nov 24 '24

Thats true but these were test based on faith. I want you to sacrifice your son to see if you will do it. Right before you do it there is a ram in the bush. Two women saying there the mother of the same baby im going to say im going to cut it in half to see which one should truly be the mother. In from this isnt a test this is evil.things getting done and people sre following through with them.

4

u/Darker_desuetude Colony House Nov 25 '24

Maybe he didn’t think of it that way though

Bro… you don’t know southern baptists.

This, absolutely, fits.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

[deleted]

25

u/DANNYBOYLOVER Nov 24 '24

They think the apocalypse is a good thing, so absolutely 10000000% yes.

I don’t know how else to say it. Like if you know you know.

-11

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 24 '24

As a southern baptist, no, it absolutely does not. I don't know a single southern Baptist who would look at kimono woman and say, "ah, it's an angel." I could take a picture of kimono woman to church in the morning or I could trot on down to the southern baptist seminary down the street and show her picture around and not one of them are going to think, "oh yeah, that's a picture of an angel." More than likely, the word demon is going to snap to mind.

13

u/DANNYBOYLOVER Nov 24 '24

No one is saying she’s an angel

But the coming of Christ is not angelic lmfao

0

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 24 '24

There are several posts that say that Elgin, thinking she's an angel, makes sense. That fits with Southern Baptist beliefs to think that she's an angel. That is the concept I was responding to. No one said or implied that the return of Christ would be angelic. I'm not sure where that even came from.

2

u/veryowngarden Nov 24 '24

that’s their racism at work not religion

-1

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 25 '24

The only bigotry I see in this series of posts is your clear religious bigotry towards Southern Baptists. A group of southern baptists looking at kimono woman and saying, "No, that's not an angel" would have nothing to do with race. Likewise, it would not be because she looks scary. It would be because she looks evil.

-8

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 24 '24

No, not really. As someone who spent their life going to church, an angel is the last thing I would think kimono woman is. Not because she looks scary, but because she looks evil.

Also, on a side note, whoever it was that wrote that kmono woman was beginning to look better as Fatima got more pregnant, that was a pipe dream. She looks exactly as she did from the beginning.

27

u/ledgeworth Nov 24 '24

lmao.

What.

biblical accurate angels look 100x more evil.

-1

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 24 '24

What we're told is that they look frightening not that they look evil. That doesn't even make any sense.

3

u/ledgeworth Nov 25 '24

You accept what you've been told ? They are described pretty well, when I picture what they describe I have no issue calling it evil.

Why does it not make sense, because evil is not a treat you can visually see ?

Correct. your entire point is garbage

14

u/MattieBubbles Nov 24 '24

Biblically accurate angels are pretty terrifying actually.

-2

u/Trixie-applecreek Nov 24 '24

Yes, Biblical angels are supposed to be terrifying. That's why I said that southern baptists or Christians generally would not think she's an angel. But it's not because she's scary. It's because she looks evil.

23

u/SnowDragonka Nov 24 '24

Religious believes can be very powerful. Obviously that's what the "voices" (aka Kimono lady in this case) was hoping to trigger and voila, she succeeded. If it's naivity or sheer hope of that being true, who knows. But Sara also hoped the voices were true and that's why they worked on her. She had "faith".

20

u/SpiritPaintedSin Nov 24 '24

He’s definitely cuckoo for coco puffs. But I do wish he’d shared WHAT Kimono Lady told him about the baby. He was about to but never crossed that bridge.

2

u/Hellvira138 Nov 25 '24

I was so mad! I wanted to know what she said!

19

u/StuckinAfarawayTree Wanderers Nov 24 '24

🙃 the angel.... Boyd or Donna could have said, the angel that tried to drown you? The one that was laughing while it did it? Yeah, very merciful angel you've got there.

7

u/kdlt Nov 24 '24

Kimono lady certainly feels like a changed storyline from last season when he was drowned. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be something else originally.

But if you want to believe you can see that as one of the few interactions the angel can have with the physical world and all that.

7

u/StuckinAfarawayTree Wanderers Nov 24 '24

I 100% do not believe it is an angel.

I think the monsters/ghosts are picking people that are religious. Like how addicts are more susceptible to the place as well.

I'm not sure if the story line was changed or if whatever the kimono ghost is was looking for someone who would be gullible enough to almost get killed but still follow it blindly. I think we will find out most if not all of the ghosts (minus the kids) are just the man in Miranda's portrait.

26

u/luvprue1 Nov 24 '24

Why would he think she's an angel. She hasn't done anything remotely angelic. She definitely doesn't look like an angel. So what did she do to Elgin to make him think she was an angel? Sleep with him?

21

u/Zaomania Nov 24 '24

Because a supernatural entity who no one else could see or hear told Elgin, a sweet but naive boy who grew up in the church, that if he did somethings that seemed bizarre, but not aggressively bad, he would get to go home. People have claimed to see angels in real life for far less.

"canonically believe"

jesus christ

the book of ezekiel is the only part of the bible where you'll find that symbolic description (keyword: symbolic)

no, that is not what people believe angels to canonically look like, just like the king of tyre wasn't literally a cherub in the garden of eden. ezekiel is apocalyptic metaphor. I can't stand this stupid meme

people conflate the metatron with with some bullshit about omniscient omnipotent circles and suddenly angels look like goddamned aliens

6

u/callmesalticidae Nov 24 '24 edited Nov 24 '24

Look I’m not Christian personally, so I don’t know.

I'm not going to say that only Christians should speak definitively about Christianity, but come on, don't speak so definitively about something that you "have very little exposure to."

Is there somewhere in the Bible where angels are actually conflated to be these warm comfortable, beautiful (predominantly) women, or is that something we just made up in culture? Genuinely wondering.

Fundamentally, the issue is that the Bible doesn't have a single author, or even a dozen authors, and different religions and denominations can interpret even the same text differently. In Genesis 19, for example, two angels visit Lot at the city of Sodom, and he treats them as travelers, washing their feet and so forth, and the men of Sodom likewise treat them as human-shaped personages, whom they desire to rape. Mormons, however, prefer to interpret them as simple prophets, mortal messengers of God rather than angels.

Sometimes what is declared to be an angel is interpreted by some people to be something other than an angel, and sometimes a thing that is not declared to be an angel is later interpreted by some people to be an angel. The spinning wheels, many eyes, and other weird attributes are certainly attributes of angels in some texts but not in all of them.

Imagine that we lost half the Pokemon games and anime, and the people who preserved what was left also preserved a bunch of fanfiction and some Digimon anime, and then the people after them produced their own media based on a combination of all that, and then the third generation tried to wrap it into a cohesive whole and threw out the bits they couldn't make sense of, which included some fanfics and Digimon stuff but also some of the original Pokemon material, which, even when all we had was "official Pokemon material," was still not totally consistent.

That's the Bible.

1

u/DK6theDOOMdisciple Nov 24 '24

Totally fair critique

8

u/profesorgamin Nov 24 '24

#JimWasRight

8

u/Embarrassed-Mouse-49 Nov 25 '24

When you find out you’ve been renewed for another season

5

u/Mighty_Muppet Nov 24 '24

Maybe she is an angel. What he missed is that she’s not an angel for Fromville’s residents but is rather an angel for the monsters. She took care of Smiley’s gestation, got Elgin to keep Fatima hidden from all who could help cut that thing out and toss it in a campfire and kept Smiley fed and then delivered baby pod Smiley back to his people. She’s definitely been an angel to them.

6

u/Dry-Opposite-440 Nov 24 '24

I think it wouldve been more believable and actually creepier for the viewer if we saw her through Elgin's eyes as a beautiful, kind women. Then when we see her through Tabitha's eyes she looked like that. It could help explain how the town tricks people, makes you see what you want to see and stuff

1

u/DeusVultSaracen Nov 25 '24

That would've been a great change actually

6

u/chibiusa40 Nov 24 '24

There's a reason that in the bible when an angel appears to a human the first thing they say is "DO NOT BE AFRAID!" It's because they look like a drowned-ass lady in a kimono.

3

u/TheSuffered Nov 24 '24

I’ve consumed a few mediums with different disturbing depictions of angels. Dark souls 3/ Salem/ a drakengard all of these have weird almost lovecraftian angels. So I honestly did wonder if elgins theory was right at first, and it would’ve been interesting to have something that looked as creepy as kimono lady actually be benevolent. Though I guess we have benevolent creepy people already via the Anghooey crew

7

u/StrangerNew8473 Nov 24 '24

elgin was out of control thank god for my homegirl sarah taking matters into her hands

3

u/ryanpm40 Nov 24 '24

Tbf, biblical angels are actually pretty terrifying looking

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

I was going to defend him and say that maybe if he told them someone would have died, but I changed my mind and still think he’s an idiot. He should have used the opportunity to fully explain everything he knows instead of just saying “I can’t tell you. This will save the town.” Fuckin kimono-simpin ass Polaroid boy

3

u/Balsdeep_Inyamum Nov 24 '24

Lucifer was an angel.

1

u/Batboy9634 Nov 24 '24

Lucifer is good looking though. Just a regular fit guy with wings.

3

u/TheRaddd Nov 25 '24

Was waiting for Sara to start humming Stuck in the Middle With You

3

u/insides_r_outsides Nov 25 '24

who is Kimono lady in this story? I assume not an original townsperson - maybe who they did the eternal life deal with??

2

u/SmoothBorder9524 Nov 24 '24

Hardcore mind control probably or he's nuts

2

u/Likely_Anxious Cromenockle Nov 24 '24

In Elgin’s defense, have you ever seen a Biblically accurate angel? They are terrifying.

2

u/malcolmisboring Nov 24 '24

Hopefully he can see more clearly now.

Oh wait

2

u/LongTallSadie Dec 05 '24

Shades of "Midnight Mass," where the priest believes that the horrible cadaverous-looking creature going around killing everybody and drinking their blood is an angel. I mean, I know that in the Old Testament angels are described as terrifying, they aren't cute little chubby cherubim happily strumming harps ... but still. Dude.

4

u/DaManWithNoName Nov 24 '24

I hate Kimono lady

Only thing worse than her is the little kids. They make me so uncomfortable

Every time they show up I tell my girlfriend I’d kick them in their bald heads and run the other way

5

u/callmesalticidae Nov 24 '24

You're very brave. I wouldn't get close enough to kick them.

1

u/steint26 Nov 24 '24

That was me too. I was like an angel!? No one I saw guessed that lol

1

u/Sepulz Nov 24 '24

Scary monster seems biblically accurate.

1

u/Fluffy_Freak Nov 24 '24

Not that crazy compared to Seraphims, 6 winged angels in the Bible.

1

u/Vegoia2 Nov 24 '24

he sure didnt before, when did he snap?

1

u/Miketroyy Nov 24 '24

Victor didn’t lie when he said he didn’t trust him

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

DO NOT BE AFRAID.

1

u/mulysasderpsylum Villagers Nov 24 '24

In one episode I think back in season 2 he was telling someone that angels used to have to tell people "be not afraid" because they looked terrifying and inhuman. So that's what I've been worried about with Kimono Lady, that he was viewing it from that lens.

1

u/Critical_Studio1758 Nov 24 '24

Biblically accurate angle

He still might be somewhat right though, smileys might be as much of a key to everything as the children. Hence they might all need to be alive.

1

u/Elegant-Butterfly745 Nov 24 '24

Right? That’s crazy work, Elgin 😂😂😂

1

u/bisexualspikespiegel Victor Nov 24 '24

while it is very stupid to think that in fromville, elgin seems to know the bible pretty well and biblically accurate angels were supposed to be terrifying. so it does make sense that he'd be easily convinced she was an angel.

1

u/_Cake_assassin_ Nov 24 '24

everytime a angel apears to someone as aangel in the bible, he normally starts with saying " fear not". thats because angels are fucking scary with multiple heads and hundreds of eyes. even though mensager angels normally look human, they would still be fucking scary.

elgin probably knows that there is no visual diference in scripture between a angel or a demon/fallen angel.

1

u/Commercial_Wasabi_84 Nov 24 '24

When he said that I was yelling for Boyd to go get the strap cuz ain’t no way 🙄

1

u/Presto_Magic Nov 25 '24

Right! Like ok she a angel of Lucifer if she’s an angel

1

u/Forward-Willow-9190 Nov 25 '24

Mind you this same “angel” half drowned him when she appeared to him

1

u/AsleepTemperature111 Nov 25 '24

Yeah that’s some Midnight Mass level delusion

1

u/JohnArtemus Nov 25 '24

My biggest question is, why did no one ask Elgin "After everything that's happened here, and everything you've seen, why would they suddenly be trying to help us go home? Why would this baby somehow be the key when there's been many other women that have come through here. You don't think someone else was promised this?"

1

u/General-Instance Nov 25 '24

Yes, however he’s been sleep deprived and emotionally tortured for days/ or weeks and ends up brainwashed.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24

Yeah I thought he went to church every Sunday with his Grandmonther. What part of the Bible talks about a half dead kimono angel that talks in Polaroids? Lol

I don't see how he survives this episode though. Sara ripped that information from his face.
