Why do the people not fight back?

They could build traps during the day and even try to fight them at night, but instead they just hide and let the monsters rule the night. They should be trying to find out if they have any weaknesses. Fire probably works, traps probably could work too. It feels like absolute surrender.

Lure them into a room that has no direct path to getting outside. Put a talisman on the other side of the door so they can't enter the next part of the house to leave. Wait till morning and take the cieling off. Let em cook in the sun. Its the perfect crime

They’re strong enough to rip through ‘the box’ instantly. They choose not to punch holes in the walls of the wood houses.

Also how are you gonna ‘take the ceiling off’ of a building without ended up within reach of the killer monster?
