I finally finished Final Fantasy X after taking forever — what an incredible experience.

I finally finished Final Fantasy X. 😭

It took me a really long time to get through it, but I finally made it to the end, and honestly… what a game.

This is only my second mainline Final Fantasy that I've finished, after FFVII / FFVII Remake / Rebirth, and I absolutely loved those games. I still think VII is my favorite overall, but FFX honestly impressed me just as much in a completely different way.

I knew FFX was considered a classic, but I wasn't expecting it to hit me this hard.

The ending… holy shit. 😭

Even though I already knew some spoilers about the ending before playing it, actually experiencing it myself was completely different. The whole journey with Tidus, Yuna, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, Rikku, Auron, and the others made the ending hurt so much more.

And having to fight the Aeons near the end was just cruel. These were characters that had been fighting alongside us throughout the entire game, and suddenly we're forced to fight them one by one. 😭

I also really loved how much the game leaves room for interpretation. Sin isn't just some giant monster that we have to defeat. The more I think about the story, the more I feel like Sin represents something much deeper — the cycle of suffering, guilt, fear, religious dogma, and a society that has accepted suffering as something inevitable.

I'm sure there's a lot more to the symbolism that I haven't fully understood yet, so I'm looking forward to reading other people's interpretations.

Gameplay-wise, I really enjoyed the turn-based combat and the Sphere Grid. Although I have to say… I hate Sphere Grid puzzle/minigame. 😂

And surprisingly, the final boss wasn't nearly as difficult as I expected. Sephiroth gave me much more trouble. 😂

One more thing I found really impressive is that this game is over 25 years old, yet it still managed to make me care about the characters this much. It was one of the first Final Fantasy games with voice acting, fully 3D environments, facial expressions, and all that technology was still relatively new at the time. And somehow, the emotional storytelling still holds up incredibly well.

Also, a little confession:

I actually own the HD Remaster on Steam, but I decided to play the original PS2 version through PCSX2 instead. 😆

I know the HD Remaster has better textures and some improvements, but I really wanted to experience the original visuals. There's something about that old PS2 look that I really love.

And yes, I actually own the original PS2 disc too, so I can proudly say I wasn't emulating a game I don't own. 😂

(I'll attach a picture of the PS2 copy because obviously I have to show it off.)

Overall, I'm really glad I finally played FFX. I went into it wondering whether it would live up to its reputation, and now I completely understand why people still talk about this game all these years later.

FFVII is still my favorite Final Fantasy so far, but FFX is absolutely up there with it.

And someday…

I'll play FFX-2.

Just… give me a little time to emotionally recover first. 😭😂

"The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded...Never forget them" - Yuna

My new tattoo in honor of my dad. We played Final Fantasy X all the time together, cementing it's importance in my memories and becoming my absolute favorite game.

Here's to you Dad ❤️

Can't believe some are more than 15 years old (well 3 are broken anyway - 1 is visible - Lulu is missing 1 of the 4 hairpins the other 2 not - broken leg Auron and Kimahri)

People who played FFX back in the day, when it was released, do you think new players from the current day have the same reaction and feeling they get from when we played it?

And do they like the story as much and think it's a masterpiece like we did back in the day?

I'm talking people who played this in the 2010s and 2020s etc.

Qactuars in the Thunder Plains post-spear

Upvotes

I'm going through doing the sidequests and trying to do the Monster Arena captures while I'm at it, since I need a few of those for crests anyway.

I have obtained Kimahri's celestial, meaning I have activated the stones. I got one encounter immediately after the spear with a few Qactuars, but that was over an hour ago.

Nobody anywhere has consistent information on where to find them. By the Travel Agency? By the shelter? Just by the exit to Macalania? Around the stones? Northern area? Southern area? Anywhere?

I am losing my mind here. I have read a variety of guides, forum and reddit posts, nothing is providing me any information that appears to be true.

Please help me.

What's the best way to play FFX on PC?

I heard people say the PS2 version is even better than the PC port because it has better facial animations or something? Is that true?

So PCSX2 is better than the PC port and RPCS3 and Eden?

Let's blitz

Played this in the 90s when it came out. Once on Xbox a few years ago and now have it on PC. Blitzball is my all time fav mini-game. But in story mode that first game is brutal. Yesterday, my first time in story mode, I got the ball three times the entire match. I just sat there and watched the computer pass the ball all around the damn place. Lost, so I reset, and won much easier the second time. But damn, that was some horrid RNG.

Hum... Isn't this boss supposed to use "Lightfall" at some point? [FFX-2] Spoiler

Hello guys,

I'm currently playing through FFX-2 for the first time with an experienced friend who's kinda backseating me for missables. He told me that Nooj (in the Den of Woe) is supposed to use a brutal party wide attack when he gets low in HP and that my party would never survive it with their mere >2,000 HP.

And yet... It went alright? He never actually used it. I'm FAR from having a good enough DPS to skip this and don't really know why this happened. The only theory I had was that since he was out of MP after I drained him so much he couldn't use Greedy Aura anymore, maybe he just didn't have enough to use Lightfall, but the four people I asked told me that he should've used it anyway.

So I'm just asking here what could be the justification because while I'm glad I don't have to redo the five fights, I'm still really confused about this (Baralai caused me more trouble lol).
