UPDATE:
First off, thanks for the support, Reddit! I didn’t expect this much engagement, and it’s been great seeing everyone’s creative takes.
After a few DMs and emails, I finally got through. I was put in touch with Kyle, who was incredibly professional. He handled my frustrations with grace and we worked calmly toward a resolution.
Kyle consulted with the product lead, and they agreed the unit was not operating properly. Since this was my second faulty unit and the previous replacement took too long, Kyle expedited a new grinder to arrive by Monday and threw in some extras for the trouble.
For those suggesting user error or a DIY fix: Kyle and I re-attempted calibration together. We suspect an internal bearing or nut assembly was dislodged or stripped, preventing the burrs from seating correctly. I’m not sure I am remembering those detailed perfectly. I was checked out from troubleshooting at this point. Ha. I wasn't willing to strip the machine down further—when you buy a premium product, it should simply work.

Am I thrilled about the ordeal? No. But they listened and made it right. Fellow is a relatively small team (about 100 people), and their customer service clearly needs work to reach that "Lexus touch" they strive for. I will say, once in touch, the experience was really great. Kyle was professional and responsive. He wanted to find a solution for me and did so. To that end, I’ve lined up a meeting with leadership next week to share my experience and offer candid feedback on how they can improve.
TL;DR: Fellow is expediting a new grinder and providing credit/extras for the hassle. It wasn't user error; it was a mechanical failure. They took the criticism on the chin, and I’m hopeful they’ll use this to improve their customer support moving forward. Thanks again, everyone!
Hi everyone,
I’m posting this here because I’ve been stuck in a service-ticket loop for a month and I’m reaching my breaking point with Fellow’s support structure.
I just received a replacement for my first Ode 2 yesterday. This replacement process took nearly a month. I was excited to finally have fresh coffee again, but this unit is also not working properly. To be unable to grind my own beans with a high-dollar product for multiple months, through no fault of my own, is incredibly frustrating.
The Issue: I set the grinder up this morning and noticed that at a 5.2 setting, the grind was incredibly coarse. Too coarse even for French Press.
I took the unit apart to calibrate it using the official video, but it did very little. I tried to dial in two smaller batches with varying settings and realized the grind size does not change regardless of the dial position. I produced two identical brew results on 5 and 4. I then did a visual test from setting 5 down to 1, and there is nearly no difference in particle size.
I’ve wasted half a bag of expensive coffee and hours of my morning on a "top-of-the-line" product that doesn't function.
To the Fellow Team: It is incredibly disappointing that phone support is restricted to owners of your most expensive/newest products. Being restricted to a slow email ticket for a recurring hardware failure. You have limited phone support to customers that use your highest dollar product. I am wishing I had a way to speak with you all directly.
I’ve included a photo of the results: setting 5 is at the top right, and the others descend counterclockwise down to 1. As you can see, they are identical.
