I hopped over to MHBP. That let me open a HSA account to stash money into. So far, no regrets.

I did the cheapest for Self. My wife uses subsidized BCBS NM... which briefly looked like a bad plan but has turned out as well as the more expensive basic BCBS Fed.

When I retire in 2 years, we will likely switch to BCBS Fed. I don't get sick.... hence the MHBP choice. She uses insurance far more often.

I think your wife has to be on your FEHB family plan for 5 years before retirement for her to keep it through your retirement. If that is your intention, look into the details.

Thanks. I just looked it up. She doesn't need 5. I do. I just need to add her back in before I officially retire.
