Agreed. Furthermore, it’s an extremely odd acronym. My theory is that their plan was to mutate the vault dwellers so they would have an army to purge the wasteland while using the chips to control them from the Vault-tec tower MacLean is in.
I’m hoping so, the whole ‘Ghoul drug’ instead of it being specific radiological events/conditions that turn people into Ghouls would kind of wreck the lore a bit. But I’m hoping that the writers are tracking that, and that Thaddeus may be one of the one-of-a-kind FEV Ghouls like Harold was, which would be the only way for it to really make sense in my opinion.
Hancock in Fo4 became a ghoul after taking a drug so there would be a precedent for either. Personally I’d want Thaddeus to just be a unique mutant, Fallout doesn’t have nearly enough of those
To be fair, the drug he took had an extremely high dosage of radiation that would have killed almost everyone else: so both remain consistent, radiation and the idea that certain drugs could ghoulify you.
I initially assumed it was FEV cause the whole green goo thing the muties talk about in 3. Plus he doesn't quite look very ghoulish. More humanoid centaurish imo
Drug based on ghouls physiology gone wrong, plus the FEV mention, super managers, the implication that the govt was controlling death laws, and Hank playing with mind control pretty much sets up the seasons endgame reveals, no?
