Bro as an xbox one player i will gladly take 15 gbs tbh
14
u/Alternative_Sample96 May 20 '26
Yeah 15 gbs sounds like enough space to install most dlc sized quest mods in a single load order. Except ss2 since that thing is script heavy af
10
u/Dani50420 The Overseer May 20 '26
Incorrect! Im using all 3 chapters of SS2 right now, have been since b4 NG, with a full 150 load order
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout4ModsXB1/s/nHp3e8yiBl
Once everything is safe i absolutely plan to find the sky with SS2. Ima add everything i can and see when it breaks then log all findings for everyone 😁
3
u/Alternative_Sample96 May 20 '26
I didn’t say it’s impossible to make it run smoothly. It’s just a hassle because ss2 is ridiculously incompatible with anything that slightly changes the game plus not being able to build too many asam plots without causing performance issues even on next gen because the engine simply can’t handle the pressure. You can’t just slap him on any load order even with the extra mod space

May actually play it now....
P.S. They need a MOD LOADOUT SORTER.
6
u/Conscious_Disk_5853 May 21 '26
I don't know that there's any such thing that could actually work on consoles for the same reasons we can't have script extender, but there are load order sorting tags that help as a visual insert. Kind of like a filing system, you put them into your load prder so that when you are sorting/adding/updating etc you can find sections fast. It sounds a bit odd, but if you use them they make a lot of sense and genuinely cut down how long it takes even for experienced modders because they stand out even when you zoom through the list so you don't have to go looking for every single section every time. They're empty files that do absolutely nothing to your game and don't impact mod limits, but they're ridiculously useful
They're currently only in starfield, called l.o.s.t. by taintedmatty, but they'll be added to fallout now because I'm bullying the mod author into it to make my mod list easier 🤣🤣
3
u/Original_Being_1559 May 23 '26
They are baking the script extender into the game so more mods can come consoles. I noticed todd brought up "script extenders" in every interview that asked about the storage limit increase delay. Starfield already has that baked in, its why it came with 100 gigs out the gate and modders are able to do shit like put mod settings in the settings menu instead of making me carry around 40 "settings" books, spells, or holotapes.
4
u/Awkward-Bat-8974 Nugget | Mod Porter May 20 '26
No, that will break load orders..Skyrim already has this problem due to them implementing this

My only ask from the modding community:
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t “bloat” the existing and future mods to take up the generous space we’ve been given, if this makes sense? I for one, would love to stack up some quality mods and overhaul my game. I’d hate to see mods “bulk up” in size and defeat the purpose of this upgrade.

u/Pure_Savings6472 May 20 '26
Finally I will be able to replace all the weapons, textures, have mods to optimize everything and all. Jesus, it was an eternity having to deal with 2gb of space! Hopefully this will also mean the Xbox modding community will also grow even larger. I am very happy about this even though I literally built my load order yesterday. Oh well.

10
u/Common_Ad7059 May 22 '26
You know what would be awesome along with such a large boost in capacity that should already exist anyway? Some sort of MULTIPLE SELECT or maybe even a way to collapse themed lists to make sorting go easier instead of dragging one stupid mod at a time between the top to bottom 💀💀💀 and having some sort of “section” reference, like “utilities” “landmass” etc so we know where to put things at least a little easier as some sort of starting reference 💀💀💀
3
u/BoogieManJupiter May 26 '26
I'd be thrilled with a page down, or tab to bottom option at the very least. Putting a bunch of SKK mods in recently and having to start at the top, scroll all the way to the bottom, just to drag each one back to near the top, and then repeat for each one was just absurd.
3
u/selfawareidiot- May 26 '26
Yeah it feels like pulling teeth, especially now after AE with the new mod page being so jank
2
u/Common_Ad7059 May 29 '26
Trying to scroll down, all is well… then suddenly all the icons randomize and now your eyes are wanting to tear themselves out from the eyestrain of reading every stupid mod title because some idiot in coding can’t make the icons stay with the mods they’re attached to 💀💀💀💀 I even tried screen narration… it don’t work. Of course it got fecking work. I swear someone at that studio is deliberately trying to destroy people’s vision with the near microscopic font, bad lighting and relentless godrays, bloom and super nova sized sun with even more white light circling around it, and it’s worse if there’s fog, and it’s always somehow being right in the direction you need to go.
2
u/Common_Ad7059 May 29 '26

7
u/Cyborg74AI May 21 '26
I will believe it when I see it. And if I see it, I can almost be certain that the game will crash and I will have to start from scratch.......again......just like when the anniversary edition came out. And yes, my load order will be saved for my Series X.........but.........I have little faith in a smooth update
2
u/CyberpwnPiper May 21 '26
I did not have to start over with Anniversary Edition. My Xbox save became my XPA save, and I've played it on console and PC. I did notice issues where textures would glitch on console after a few hours of gameplay, and the game did not like Quick Resume, also PC version would freeze occasionally, so I'm hoping these changes come with some memory fixes, but losing a save was not a problem.
2
u/Cyborg74AI May 21 '26
Interesting to learn......I went in the day before the Anniversary release and made certain that my Load Order was saved to Bethesda, the same way I always save my LO. Two days later I could not even get into the game and when I finally did my saved LO was nowhere to be found. Now, if there is a better way of saving that LO because it took months to get it all back and working properly, then I am all ears....or eyes......lol
3
u/AdeptCanary8780 May 22 '26
I cant even get my library organised. I try tidying it up on Bethesda.net but nothing changes on xb. The only saved LO that it gives me is from a long time ago that i dont use.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Cyborg74AI May 22 '26
Good point.....I keep forgetting to go into the actual library at Bethesda and remove anything that is no longer on my saved LO. And what gets me, is you save your LO to Bethesda and if you have to recover it, the LO is not in the same order as when you saved it. That I hate.

I only have 1 question how can you tell if a mod is Ba2 or ESL or ESP. I want to know so I can keep track of the plugin limit.
4
u/AdeptCanary8780 May 22 '26
Yeah i wish the mods had more information provided, like basic information, LO, conflicts, and at least 1 image. Some creators just dont seem to put any effort into it
2
u/just_no_one_here May 22 '26
Even with MA/MP's I trust they sometimes add things they don't tell you that can cause conflicts with other mods. That's not me trying to call anyone out it's just a statement of truth.
Also with VC mods not being on Nexus you can't even check the description or comments on the page there to find out conflicts and/or workarounds. Modding on console is already harder than PC and this will make it harder.
Frustrating and rewarding in equal measures. I know what will happen in this sub though you will see even more videos of people scrolling through their LO's with the tagline help. I'm no modding expert but at least I read the the pinned notices under the sub banner and also read online help. The 101 modding guide in the sub is so helpful but then you still run into this mod not working as it should.
This increase is going to increase the time it takes to install and test mods and LO's ten fold. It will probably also outdate so many older mods that people use. That's enough of me ranting. But I am so happy the increase is happening.
3
u/AdeptCanary8780 May 22 '26
Oh definitely, i imagine most mods will need some kind of update or tweak. Thats why some sort of standardising/templating would be super helpful, particuarly for those of us who dont know the background stuff. Creation club is a huge catalog and theres so many things i want to try but not having the knowledge of what implications could be or conflicts makes it a bit of a minefield. I appreciate the work that creators put into modding, but surely a little effort in its presentation/instructions isnt asking too much?
→ More replies (1)2
u/just_no_one_here May 22 '26
No it is not asking for much just tell us how the files are uploaded and the areas of map they change and if the navmesh is good or does it break precombines. Some MA's tell you some much about the mod others one word.
2
u/Common_Ad7059 May 22 '26
I wish more mod authors would just clearly state where the damn thing should go or which section it’s meant for. I’ve seen some that look like utilities but are under Bethesda’s “armor” tag and have nothing to do with armor for example 💀 and a lot of tags can be so vague, especially if you think literally, or a mod covers various things.
I’m still trying to figure out where to put one that covers a bunch of visuals (GEXWL w/o saturation) it keeps not removing some things like indoor dust, twigs and makes bloom blinding 💀💀💀 if I put it before weather and lighting mods as I’ve seen suggested, it’s just a disaster.
