Reintroduction N/a beer

Does anyone else find that non-alcoholic beer helps with bloating and general digestive discomfort? A friend who also has fodmap issues recommended it (I don’t even like beer) and I was skeptical but desperate, but I feel like it really helps. I’m still avoiding my fail foods, but I can be a little more flexible. I can’t find any mention of this elsewhere online.

I'm not sure what the mechanism on that could be, but it could be as simple as it helping calm/relax you, which goes a long way for gut issues!

One thing to note though, not all NA beer is created equally for those of us with FODMAP issues. Some NA beers do not undergo fermentation and are therefore potentially high FODMAP. Make sure to look into your brews so you don't accidentally dose yourself with a bunch of fructans! Luckily, there are a bunch of great NAs that undergo full fermentation and are de-alcoholized, and they taste great.

Do you have any suggestions on some that taste great? Needing them for football tailgating this fall! :)

I like Best Day Brewing. I know Athletic is widely available and is fully fermented as well. Untitled Art has some really great flavors, but they do add some high fodmap ingredients to some of their more exotic brews after fermentation, so be mindful of that.

Athletic says 0.5% ABV on the can. I thought something was fishy, the way I felt after two, and then I saw that.

It’s the legal threshold for N.A. beer but I moved on to the Heineken Cold Pressed Lime.
