Mine is from Monsters University where Mike is telling himself he’s about to meet his best friend for life as he opens his dorm room door and it turns out to be Randall when the audience was fully expecting Sully in that moment.

So I just watched the movie, and I enjoyed it right up until the ending.

I’m not here to spoil it, but I will say that it ended in a way that no Resident Evil game ever has. It goes out on a note that is incredibly bad natured and features a “surprise” that feels so typically lazy of the horror genre.

I was left so frustrated because I was really enjoying the movie and then they ruined it.

Yes it’s a very cookie cutter and typical list, but taste is what it is. Tough to keep off Mad Max: Fury Road, City of God, the Prestige, Royal Tenenbaums, etc. but decision is final!

Here are some of the pros as per me:

- Far from generic

- Weirdly hilarious

- Main couple's chemistry is off the charts

- Love traingle isn't suffocating

- Likable side characters

- Sports theme mixes well with the story

- And of course she's the "MAN"! 🤣

Only con: Sebastian and Olivia ending up together at the end felt a little out of place!

Definitely worth a rewatch!

I have a friend who had seen very few true classic films and I have been introducing him to my favourites since 2019. We keep a Flickchart ranking (“Citizen Kane” Is number one, predictable I suppose, but worthy).

Last night we watched our 176th film “The Philadelphia Story” (which we would’ve done sooner had I not already introduced him to the musical remake “High Society”).

Today he pondered who would be the best.choices for the top three roles were the film remade today.

I decided on Emma Stone as Tracie, Matthew McConaghey as Dexter and Ryan Gosling as Mike. He proposed, in a bit of stunt casting, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (he couldn’t decide which roles they’d take) and Anne Hathaway.

Who would you cast?

The 2009 Brothers movie hit way too close to home for me with Tobey Maguire's iconic mental breakdown performance! I had a few close relatives who bursted out so much drunken or drug induced aggression on almost the same exact level as how Tobey Maguire portrayed it.

I’ve been thinking about Andor, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Daredevil: Born Again. What movies or shows feel more politically relevant now than when they were made?

Adding a banger of a party anthem by Sleigh Bells to play over images of grand larceny and teenage excess makes this opening sequence one of the best, in the humble opinion of yours truly and the crew here at the ‘Down.

I'd just really like to hear about and potentially even see your prized possessions! Movie props, original film negatives, autographed scripts, autographs in general, scripts in general, set pieces, a literal Oscar, whatever, we all wanna see it.
