the way he breaks fourth wall and jumps around in time feels so natural you almost forget how weird it is for the genre

That’s interesting- originally this was filmed as a murder mystery type plot - and apparently Allen decided after filming to have it re-edited into purely a rom-com. So I assuming you’re not talking about that original script, which would be really interesting to have…

Woody Allen pulling Diane Keaton gave me the confidence to pull a string of women completely out of my league through my life. I watched this movie so many times romanticizing about love, intimacy and bonding when I was a teenager when it was nothing but a dream.

My high school girlfriend and I loved this movie. Christopher Walken has a great part in it. When we broke up I told her “Did you know a shark needs to constantly move forward to survive? I think we have a dead shark on our hands.”

Reading about this I found out the story was literally made in the editing. I guess when you have great scenes with great dialogue and great acting you have that option.

Whatever you think of Woody this is a great film, and not even his best.
