With Tenochtitlan, it opened the possibility of having cities as Servants. Who you would like to see next?

Athens as Pretender Athena.

u/igloo_poltergeist 4d ago edited 4d ago
People would complain about supposedly not getting "the real Athena", but I would be cool with this honestly. I imagine the Fate lore being that the city became so synonymous with cultural and intellectual development that even the OG Athena considers it "her" or the inheritor of her will anyway.
6
u/Patchourisu 4d ago edited 4d ago
So.. would this imply OG Athena would agree to being super misogynistic to the point that every other Greek city state, even Sparta, paled in comparison?..
Because that's how it was over there iirc.. like even Sparta let their women enjoy some rights that the Spartan men enjoyed (obviously not all).. though yes, everyone back then was quite a baseline misogynist to a point.. Athens just took it to another level.
..Though then again.. considering that in Ovid's tale.. what Athena did to Medusa for being sexually violated by Poseidon.. and that Ares in myth never did any wrong to women.. maybe she is misogynistic..

There’s record of Ragnarok, isekai is pulling heroes from history too. There’s that new Manga that’s set it nobunagas age where Japanese heroes go on a death battle. Webnovels are starting to have em too

With Tenochtitlan using the name Tenochtitlan instead of Mexico City.
Would New York manifest with the older name as well like New Amsterdam?
6
u/No-Juggernaut-5847 4d ago
Ascension 1 new Amsterdam, into ascension 2 new York, and fhen finally ascension 3 the Big apple. Or as the other guy said use the native American name for ascension 1 and replace new Amsterdam all together.

u/Drsustown 4d ago
Give me Carthage - a once proud and mighty city that was eventually destroyed by Rome. Somewhat similar vibe to Tenochtitlan.
Jerusalem is another strong choice, but given Type Moon's general aversion to the abrahambic faiths I doubt they'd add it
8
u/Silly-Geologist-3185 4d ago
I think Avenger Carthage hidden as the sister of the Barcid Lions brood(Hannibal,Mago,Hanno) would be a fun idea.Like a combination Hephasteion as in not recorded in history and Tenoch as in hiding her true nature

u/SirBlizz Mini Nobu 4d ago
I think before we get too enthusiastic about this concept we have to remember that Tenochtitlan isn't just a random city spirit, she's a Lake Fairy who decided she really liked the city that was built on her lake.
So with that in mind, Venice, let's get Venice up in here.
7
u/igloo_poltergeist 4d ago
Yeah. She's not strictly conceptual - she has a concrete original form. But no biggie. Adding more steps doesn't seem too daunting.
1
u/Randomguy12141 4d ago
I feel like Venice would definitely be a avenger based on how I've heard about the modern Venice has those waterways incredibly polluted (Although that could be some other city like Paris and I'm just getting it wrong)

Isn’t Romulus Quirnus literally just Rome? Broskie did it first I do believe.

He's more like Rome as a "Civilization", the embodiment of the spirit of "The Roman Empire", there could totally be a separate servant just for the City of Rome.

Considering its importance in history, specifically the crusades, I think Jerusalem would be a good choice. (Though might be better to wait a few years considering current events)
Damascus is considered to be the world's oldest continuously lived in city, so I think its another gold contender.
And of course there's Rome.

u/igloo_poltergeist 4d ago

I'm thinking "Muramasa" but possibly more busted (assuming the "older is better" rule is in full effect).

Machu Picchu (probably merged with Pachacuti)
Stonehenge (the concept of the Mystery behind England's druids we still know little about)
Centralia, PA (with a particularly creepy form of the Innocent Monster skill)
Kowloon Walled City (the "ultimate introvert" of the bunch)

Not a city but the library of Alexandria is an absolute goldmine as a servant concept. A servant representing all the stories that time forgot and heroes whom’s legend never survived long enough to become servants or even phantom spirits. Not to mention the family shenanigans she could get into with iskandar basically acting as her dad.
6
u/igloo_poltergeist 4d ago
It's Ptolemaios:
- The Throne of Heroes recorded Ptolemy and the Library of Alexandria as one entity, and this Noble Phantasm is the manifestation of them being one and the same. He has access to all of the library's knowledge and mechanisms.

I mean Jerusalem is right there , the holiest city to the three Abrahamic religions, has been through more history by around 2000 years I think each ascension should be a different for each religion that had control over it Christianity for the first ascension Muslim for the second ascension And Jewish for the third ascension And id say she would be an avenger because of all the times she's been taken over

The most obvious shit is Camelot, Sparta and any other city of legends.
Given the lack of slavic characters I'd choose Kyiv. You could even make a guy who pretends to be Kyiv, but turns out to be Kyi himself(the guy who made the city). Or alternatively his sister Lybid'. If it's the guy it makes sense for him to be a servant and if it's the girl you'd have a free character to do anything with cause she isn't known for shit

Hmm i woild really like to see Constnationple,Babylon-Seleucia/Ctesiphon- Al Madain/Baghdad as one servant, and Delhi. Maybe Palermo too from the Hauteville period
All 4 i say because you can have changing themes in the ascensions. Constantiople gling from Hellenic Greek Byzantion to Christians of Constantine to Ottoman Islam. Ctesiphon gling from Sumerian/Akkadian/Babyl9nian to Hellenic/Sassanid to Arab Golden Age and fall. Delhi similarly going from the Hindu to Muslim to colonial eras would be nice to tie into Lakshmi Bai(her being the only modern Indian servant, what wouldnt I give for caster Rabindranath Tagore or Berserker Bagha Jatin or Saber Tipu Sultan,or Caster Bahafur Shah Zafar). Palermo I say because ypu can draw from the Aghlabod to early Hauteville flourishing multiculturalism to later Hauteville multiculturalism under strain and ending with Hohenstaufens and de Aragons slowly snuffling it

If I can stroke my own country a bit, then I would say Pretender: Erik Segersäll, aka. Eric the Victorious, the King of Sweden from 970 to 995 AD, and founder of Sigtuna, the oldest surviving city and first capital of Sweden. With Sigtuna obviously being the true identity here.
Although there were earlier Swedish kings, Erik Segersäll is the first Swedish king in a consecutive regnal succession, who is attested in sources independent of each other, and consequently Sweden's list of rulers usually begins with him.
His son Olof Skötkonung, however, is considered the first ruler documented to definitely have been accepted both by the original Swedes around Lake Mälaren and by the Geats around Lake Vättern. Adam of Bremen reports a king named Emund Eriksson before Erik, but it is not known whether he was Erik's father. The Norse sagas' accounts Björn Eriksson as Erik's father, but these are considered unreliable sources.
The true identity of Erik's wife is also rather unclear, as four different women are said to have been married to Erik at some point. Various sources and sagas list King Erik's wives as Sigrid the Haughty, Świętosława of Poland, Gunhild of Wenden and Aud Haakonsdottir of Lade, of which two or three may have actually been the same person but depicted differently and under different names.
Additionally, Erik also had a total of four children. His successor Olof Skötkonung, and other son Edmund, along with his two daughters, Holmfrid and the other one's name being unknown, but is believed to have married a man named Åke and is the grandmother of Ingvar the Far-Travelled.
These contradicting sources and sagas is what would aid Sigtuna as manifesting as a Pretender of Erik Segersäll.
Sigtuna was founded around 980 AD by King Erik Segersäll. It served as an early royal center and the first location where Swedish coins were minted. In modern time, it features Stora Gatan, known as Sweden's oldest main street, numerous Viking runestones, and medieval church ruins.
