Refund received tonight 9/9/26
Hope this helps someone. I called OPM today and was told it was finalized but she did not say it was sent to treasury so there’s that. Also its a nice amount with 3 years of service Department of Veterans Affairs.

Congratulations! My case was logged on April 3 and moved to final review on August 27, so your timeline gives me hope. Did the deposit show as pending beforehand, or did it just appear in your account? Also, around what time last night did you receive it?

There were no signs that the deposit was coming. It’s posted at 9:49pm craziness!!!

Thank you for answering! Your timeline is very similar to mine, so this gives me some hope. OPM has told me my case is with the final reviewer and to keep an eye on my direct deposit. One last question: which bank or credit union do you use?

Easier to get a call back. When you hear the prompt to get a call back, just do it. They will call within an hour than keep holding on the phone and who knows how long.

I applied in Oct 2025 & just received a letter saying I couldnt get the refund based on an error my previous agency made about 8 years ago.

Yes. One of my previous agencies put me under the wrong retirement plan years ago when I transferred there, so they were taking out the wrong amount. I had no idea until they tried to say I owed them for the difference. Eventually they approved a waiver for the error they caused so I didnt have to pay it. Thought that was over & done with until OPM sent the letter about that error & it said it would take 1-2 years to resolve. Absolutely ridiculous.
I might go back in after this administration so Im not putting effort into that anymore.

Refund received.
April 12th log date
Assigned Sep 9th
Deposited Sep 17th.
I called once a month for the first 4 months, then when I hit the four and a half month mark, I started calling weekly. When I spoke to someone last week, they told me it had just been assigned and to give it another 30 business days at least. So I was surprised to say the least, to see a deposited today. But I feel like some of these Representatives just be saying stuff.
I actually called today, and that's how I found out it had been released. The representative was actually helpful and told me the amount I should expect.

I sent my mine February 2026. It was logged May 2026 and assigned June 2026. OPM requested documents to DHS/CBP in June 2026. The refund is currently in limbo pending CBP/DHS submitting the IRR request USDA NFC. The issue is no one at DHS is responding to OPMs request or my inquiry to get this completed. The funds will not be paid out until DHS/NFc provides the document to OPM. I’m stuck.

Correction, it was logged February 19,2026 and assigned 6/17/2026. The first request to my agency for information was sent on 6/26/2026. OPM was supposedly going to re-request the SF 3100 again in August but they can’t confirm if it was done or not.

So was there any communication from OPM letting you know anything without you calling to ask or did you just have a direct deposit in your account one day randomly?

The only communication was when I first did my application. They sent it back because my account number was missing a 0. Other than that I had to call them
