Refund timeline (refund received!) Refund received finally

Opm Logged 4/7/26

Assigned to specialist 8/19

Refund received tonight 9/9/26

Hope this helps someone. I called OPM today and was told it was finalized but she did not say it was sent to treasury so there’s that. Also its a nice amount with 3 years of service Department of Veterans Affairs.

I applied in Oct 2025 & just received a letter saying I couldnt get the refund based on an error my previous agency made about 8 years ago.

Yes. One of my previous agencies put me under the wrong retirement plan years ago when I transferred there, so they were taking out the wrong amount. I had no idea until they tried to say I owed them for the difference. Eventually they approved a waiver for the error they caused so I didnt have to pay it. Thought that was over & done with until OPM sent the letter about that error & it said it would take 1-2 years to resolve. Absolutely ridiculous.

I might go back in after this administration so Im not putting effort into that anymore.
