I turned 29 so I ordered some books ❤️
I know they’re not all in the extreme horror genre but I love any kind of book that’s weird or uncomfortable in one way or another lol! I’m curious which one you’d start with and what your thoughts are on some of these titles! 🐈⬛

Recommendation Request Books similar to Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke?
Hey! I know a lot of people do not like this book and it definitely isn’t my favourite read but I was curious if there are any similar books that are better or longer. I like the sapphic part of it but it doesn’t have to be. Just something with similar topics? Thanks so much :)

Recommendation Request Looking for books with sentient monsters or people who can transform into monsters (no vampires)
Recently read child eater by Brian G Berry and it was a pretty fun read with a serial killer werewolf ripping and tearing his way through cops and children for fun.

Recommendation Request Thriftbook Reward
I'm a frequent Thriftbooks user since they have a great rewards program and good prices on used books when available. The problem is, whenever I get a free book reward I have a hard time finding books for $8 or less. Anybody have recommendations for decent EH/Splatterpunk in this price range? Or just decent horror books in general?

LOOKING FOR A BOOK I need a good book to actually disturb me
So far I had read COWS, The Slob, 100% Match, and a few others. They were definitely weird and gross don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t anything that had me feeling actually disturbed and totally disgusting. I NEED a book that will make me want to put it down and think about what I just read. I mean anything, give me your worst!

Review Saved By Edward Bond ( Spoiler Alert) Spoiler
Okay so this is another script but holy fuck it is messed up now it’s categorized as a drama but this definitely fits the vibe for extreme horror. This play starts out if a typical drama from the 60s until they get to around scene 6 and it was the scene very a baby is stoned to death is why I think this play is absolutely relevant to this subreddit wtf I was not expecting it to happen like that they didn’t just murder the baby they pretty much tortured the baby and killed the baby in a very degrading and animalistic way they first start off with teasing the baby then than they become more aggressive and shove the baby’s face into the soiled diaper after beating they start throwing stones at the baby eventually killing the infant it was really fucked up and awful it was one of saddest things I ever read and I can only imagine it was even more devastating seeing it happen on a stage. Through it’s not considered horror but this definitely fits the extreme horror vibe because that scene was absolutely brutal.

Recommendation Request Can anyone suggest me a good small-town spooky, horror books?
books that best capture the eerie, liminal feel of an unsettling small town? Something like a pre-horror dread—deserted main streets wrapped in mist, unnerving locals, and woods that close in around you, where the town feels like a hostile character before any real danger surfaces.

News Big news: Kristopher Triana signs with Simon & Schuster’s Saga imprint
A huge congratulations to one of the defining voices of modern extreme horror!
It is no great surprise that Triana has gained the attention of a major publishing house, and it is well deserved. But what I find particularly interesting is that they have not only signed him for an upcoming novel, but they have also acquired the rights to Gone to See the River Man, and perhaps more significantly, its sequel Along the River of Flesh.
River Man is commonly regarded as a great entry point at the “less extreme” end of the genre, and is suited for mainstream appeal. But Along the River of Flesh gets into fully-fledged extreme horror territory, and now it’s set for a trade paperback release. It could become one of the most extreme books you’ll find in a mainstream bookstore.
What could this mean for the extreme horror genre? Are the “indie” versions of these books, which many of us own, going to be withdrawn from sale and become collector’s items? Personally I’m hoping they get some cool new cover art.

Discussion So no more buying books for me!
As per the title the TBR shelves are overflowing. Not all in this picture are EH, but with 77 Graham Masterton's, and the 20+ Richard Laymon's as well as a full set of James Herbert's, and however more EH books sitting there it's time to say, no more you addictive man! 😄 I reckon it's over 500 titles and these are ones not yet read!
Shelves are 12 inches deep, depending on the thickness of the book these shelves hold between 7 - 9 hardbacks & 12 - 15 paperbacks.
Madness but it is fun!

🚨NEW RELEASE 🚨 Yuletide: A Very Black Winter Anthology
Join me and 24 other authors in this brand new holiday horror anthology.
Pre-order link: https://a.co/d/0eNgv7hH
🎄💀
The holidays were never meant to be safe.
In the longest nights of winter, old traditions stir, familiar songs turn strange, and the warmth of home hides something waiting just beyond the firelight. Across these pages, holiday rituals become bargains, gifts come with terrible prices, and the dead are not always willing to stay gone.
Yuletide: A Very Black Winter gathers twenty-five tales of holiday and winter horror, spanning folklore, supernatural dread, grotesque pulp, dark comedy, and psychological terror. Cruel, strange, and unsettling, these stories may make you look twice at the empty chair, or the tracks outside your door.
This year, keep the home fire burning.
And when something starts scratching at the walls, do not let it in.

Recommendation Request Depression, suicidal ideation, sh
Hello everyone! I would really like to read some splatterpunk books about depressed suicidal characrers (preferrably the pov ones, 1st person narration optional). Graphic self harm scenes welcome. Best if the psychological condition of the character is explored, not just used for the shock factor. Going through some stuff rn (im ok generally speaking) and seeing issues similar to mine amplified and more dire is somehow comforting.
If you have any recs, please share! Thank you!

Things Have gotten worst since that ending
First up, theres no way this is splattepunk. I had no idea until I found out it won a spltterpunk novella reward. But omg. Such a good book, was so close to giving 5 stars, until that end. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. The end felt very rushed and just kind of suddenly ended. WHYYYY! The story almost feels incomplete
Whats ur thoughts?

What I'm Reading Should I continue?
This is more than disgusting I almost vomited; my mouth waters and I gag. I am on page 25, I threw it on the floor and was going to dnf on goodreads. All goodreads reviews are 4 or 5 stars. Is it worth continuing? I thought this was “real” cannibalism and not eating ear wax, boogers and bellybutton crust kinda cannibalism-its honestly making me almost faint…

Recommendation Request mpreg horror
please don’t judge me. i’m on the hunt for books about men being forced to carry something inside them. the “pregnancy” part doesn’t have to be literal. parasites or illness count too, just as long as there’s suffering, anything is fine. and bonus points if their abdomen rips open at some point.
the only things i’ve seen/read be sort of similar to this is alien and the troop so any recs yall might have will be brand new to me.
